Any hard to find part, any type of “old” part of contraption, vast selection of tools and hardware. PLUS: Their website doesn’t say but they sharpen knives, repair door/window screens.
All of this with a smile and great service.

Friendly, helpful staff and an unexpectedly large inventory. You're greeted right at the door, and the staff can provide expert knowledge and assistance on almost any project. As someone who does small DIY projects and home repair, it is easier and quicker to grab project supplies that I need from a local store like this. And I always leave with more knowledge than I walked in with. Highly recommend!

This is a real hardware store. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. I will gladly drive the extra distance for any hardware needs.

I still value traditional hardware stores, and Gales is exactly what they have always been - a place to get most everything you need for your home without walking for 3 miles to find it.

A wheelbarrow tire was fixed incorrectly the 1st time, and would not stay inflated. I took it back, they gave me a whole new tire no charge, since it was their error. Awesome customer service!!!

Super friendly and attentive staff! I was kindly greeted as I entered the store and asked if I needed any assistance; I didn't, but the woman right after me did. It was great to see, and I'll definitely be back here! Please try to shop at a locally owned hardware store whenever possible and especially when you are tackling a project for the first time. You will usually get far superior customer service and staff with more knowledge and a lot of times real world experience. Don't worry that they will always be more expensive, it's negligible compared to the end user experience, and they usually have great sales and rewards programs.

This is the best hardware store ever! Luckily I live fairly close but I am over there at least once a week. Not only do they carry things you don’t find elsewhere, they will happily help you find just what you need and give advice with planning and explaining a project. Plus you don’t have to walk miles in a big-box store looking for something, with no help available. You may pay a little more here, but it is worth every penny for the service and I believe in supporting local businesses! Great workers here!!

For a store that doesn't look big on the outside, the selection inside is incredible! I honestly don't think I've ever had trouble finding exactly what I was looking for on many trips here.

Shop here if you don’t want to be sent to a huge isle to figure things out yourself like in the big box stores (Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc). I don’t shop here just to support a local business. I do because their customer service is extraordinary and their selection seems to be quality over quantity. Tried and tested product the workers stand behind and can give you advice on from experience. Great store from needing help replacing that single/unique 5 cent screw you lost, to taking on a big DIY project.

Our family loves Gales hardware! Its an excellent little jewel in Kalamazoo. It’s important to support your local business; especially when they have everything you need. I saw someone post that everything is overpriced and you can never get anyone to help you. I’d have to question this. Everyone is friendly, helpful and if things may be a few cents more than the big box store they are not buying product in bulk. I haven’t ever noticed anything being overpriced. My favorite place in the store is the nuts and bolts; it reminds me of shopping with my dad. They have everything!!! Always buy your spare keys here as they have a genuine key replicator and not digital so it’s always perfect!!! Thanks Gales!!!

This is my favorite hardware store in the area. Many helpful staff that are knowledgeable with most projects as well as having a great awareness of what they stock. I used to go to the big home improvement stores for small items like fasteners, tools, etc. I would usually wander looking for what I needed or someone to help me find it. Whereas Gales always has someone to help and can immediately take you to the products you want if they have them. They are a small store, but I have been impressed with their selection.

I love this store! I've been to several big box stores and small hardware stores looking for a certain length and size screw and no one had it. I walked into Gales and they were waiting to help me and went right to the exact one I needed!

This is the best little hardware store around. Sadly almost every other small hardware store has folded due to the megahardware establishments. This place has held on however and is just fantastic. Great service, very knowledgeable staff, and very decent pricing. Don't let the size fool you they have a huge inventory and a wide variety of items to choose from. Skip the longer drive to the big box store. Dont worry about getting lost in the maze that the hardware store has become. Check out Gales instead, tell the staff what your looking for, and be on your way in minutes. Much better then getting lost in the hardware labyrinth.

Whether you need just a few screws or a snowblower, Gales has you covered! Excellent customer service! I even named a color corrected paint after one of their paint department experts! I love them!

Disagree with Emily! Awesome repair shop! They can fix anything: mowers, blowers, electrical...every machine I have taken there has been fixed within just a few days! New repair guy, quick turn around, and way cheaper than the guys down the road. Try these guys first!

I disagree with John Doe. I've always been treated well. I always go there to buy sometime ridiculously small orings or screws and the staff would always spend time with me trying out several items similar to my request just so that I get what I have come for. The screws would be sometimes so cheap that I wonder would spending that amount of time just to get the right fit for them would really worth the value of their prices?! That's why I think the staff is all about costumer satisfaction.

More like an old fashioned hardware store in a small town. The carry items that to young find in big box stores and not bulk/bubble wrapped. Bug what you need. Customer service is excellent!!!
