Swasey Parkway

Beautiful park for a walk, has a paved path but also a dirt path. Benches, gazebo and plenty of grass to have a picnic or just relax. Shady spots with a great view of the river and town of Exeter!

Swasey Parkway is located on river-right on the Squamscott River below the last falls of the Exeter River and is the start of a tidal estuary emptying into Great Bay. The one-half mile long parkway built in ~1930 has many shaded areas and over-looks. This a great place to take a lunchtime walk to see the wildlife on the edge of downtown Exeter.

Really beautiful park... quiet, quaint and great views

Great park along the river with views of the historic downtown of Exeter. Community events take place here such as farmers markets, fireworks, festivals and also a great place to take a walk. We love grabbing an ice cream near by and taking a walk during the week down here. Tonight we watched a band of the stage and hundreds of families watching the fireworks for the town’s Independence Day festival. We highly recommend you enjoying this park!

I lived right up the street from the parkway when I was a kid. I played there for hours every night. I went today for the first time in a long time and it was really beautiful. Traffic has been blocked off, so it was very quiet. It's a beautiful park.

I actually live almost across the street from the park and I love it. It's a great place to picnic in groups or alone.
Many people like to walk or run on the sidewalk along the water and there are any benches to sit on along the way if you get tired.

Swasey parkway is beautiful and well kept. I went in the evening and the lights from all the buildings reflect beautifully in the river. It was a little dark and could use more lighting at night but I understand that they don't want people in the park after certain hours for different reasons.

Located in the heart of Exeter just a stone throw away from Phillips academy and locally owned restaurants and shops.
It's a nice place to walk or even to just sit and watch the sun set over the river.

Absolutely perfect place to walk or bike. The sunset is beautiful. Farmers market is open on Thursdays. Great place for the Exeter town community and welcoming others too!

Blocked to pedestrian traffic only, one way on each side of parkway for Covid safety. Beautiful views of River, wildlife along river and town. Close to downtown shops where there is currently a mask mandate. Sorry, no dogs allowed fines are imposed.

Beautiful scenery of the water and lit buildings on the background. Bridges from a distance. A very peaceful place to sit or take a stroll to enjoy the outdoors. The shops and ice cream store nearby is a plus! A great place for picnics and walking around.
