Dollar Car Rental - Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport

I had a great experience. I didn't have to wait in a line and the service was good. I enjoyed my rental very much. The price was affordable and when I returned my vehicle got my deposit back on the credit card right after. I will be coming back next time I visit.

A great rental service! No hustle at the drop off and clear instructions. Very organized lines at the drop off (I rented the car at IN and dropped it at DTW).
And even greater is the courtesy by the Airport Transport Shuttle Service lady, Janice. She was a very kind person and spoke nicely. On noticing my throw, she came up to me and talked about chess since my throw had chess pieces printed on. It felt nice talking to her.
I didn’t know where to post a review about her service. But I hope the related personnel notices this, can you please convey the same to Janice? I took the rental car shuttle service on 18-Nov-23.

Great service, quick check out after a long day and still had a two hour drive. But the car smelled of weed and couldn't change cause they didn't have any cars available so that really sucked

My experience was exceptional. Nicole was behind the counter, she gave us a free upgrade and a discount on some things. She also guided us in resolving some issues with travelocity. I was fifth in line and she was able to get all of us taken care of in a matter of minutes. Hands down one of the quickest and most pleasant rental experiences I have ever had. After reading the terrible reviews regarding dollar rental I had my doubts, all I can say now is whoever’s idea it was to hire Nicole deserve’s a raise. She’s nothing short of extraordinary.

I had been dreading this experience based on other reviews. However, after arriving at the facility I was warmly greeted by Nicole who was super helpful and pleasant. I explained to Nicole that my wife and I were visiting Michigan and driving all over the state and Nicole provided plenty of good insider information for us to try while traveling around. The return was just as easy and pleasant, as were the shuttle drivers, which leads me to believe some of the negative comments about this location were either due to bad luck or misunderstanding on the part of the renter. I have experienced a bad rental car agency (Fox rental cars in Salt Lake City) and you can see my 1 star review if you want to prove I am not some paid individual trying to support this location. I would certainly go through this Dollar location if I ever return to Michigan in the future and I greatly appreciate everything Nicole did.

I normally do not rent from Dollar but my girlfriend recently had a very unhappy experience with the leading car rental company and so has forbidden me from renting from them. Delta had a link to Dollar when I made our airline reservations so I ended up using Dollar. Frankly, I was surprised how excellent the experience was. The bus from the airport to the lot was a brief wait. The driver not too talkative. The woman at the counter was a pleasure. I had the opportunity to actually select from about 5 - 10 different cars on the lot. I chose an Impala. The Impala has improved since I last rented one. I am tall and overweight and the Impala was roomier than my own Sonata. The return experience was also a breeze. I might actually make Dollar my first choice the next time i need a car - albeit the price will have to be right.

It was my first time renting with Dollar and my overall experience was very pleasant. My shuttle arrived at the DTW airport within a reasonable amount of time and the driver seemed very nice. Once at the rental office, everyone was very professional and timely. At the front desk, Paul helped me secure my rental and made sure I was aware of my early turn-in location and each step in between. My rental was up to standard, clean and they even let me upgrade as my "Military Discount". The guy that helped with the Pre-Rental Vehicle Inspection paperwork was also very nice. He helped get my bags in the car and was very informative. I will definitely be using Dollar for my next car rental.

This was my first time renting a car and it went so smooth I placed a reservation 2 hours before I went and picked up the car (yes I know last minute) and the woman at the desk was awesome (totally didn't get her name but she said she's been there since 1992) anyways long story short it was so cheap and just a great experience all around I definitely would recommend but make sure you book your reservation thru Priceline. Also a big thank you to dollar for getting me in a car so fast and easily.. only thing that wasn't so great was the car I got which I got to choose has a ticking noise going on under the hood so just make sure you check it before you leave there lot so you won't have to go up there to trade it out like I will but now I know for future rentals to start the car and listen before I leave..

This time my rental process was seamless, returning the car was fine also. Waiting on the shuttle to get back to the airport took 20-30 minutes. They have two shuttles, North and South terminals. I was glad I banked extra time for the return.
The car was clean, full rank of gas and it ran like a champ!

I had the best rental experience ever! Other than the long line, once at the counter, service was friendly and quick. I was offered a great deal on my rental and I will definitely go back. Dollar Rent a Car will be my only car rental service from now on. Ruth, she was amazing, she gave excellent customer service and is a awesome person. Thank you Ruth!!

Being an Express member is very helpful - getting a car immediately!! This time the first car's registration had expired so we had to go back and were given an upgrade. However that one had some scratches that were noted, and a report had to be filed upon return. Overall, the experience was much better than some other times. Thanks.

I hate renting cars & writing reviews, but I had a very good experience here & the good employees should be acknowledged.
I made a reservation through Dollar's website for a mid size SUV because I heard that you can drive their vehicles into Canada with no extra charges. We were driving from Detroit to Niagara Falls, Canada about 5 hours away.

We collected our baggage & went to the rent a car shuttle bus area....Immediately we see the Dollar/Thrifty bus pull up.

The driver Andrew introduced himself & everyone was exhausted so he didn't get much of a response, but he took it in stride & had everyone laughing.
He helped everyone with their bags & air conditioning in the bus was working great on a hot & humid day.

We get to the rental lot office & there was a slight line, but we were served within a couple of minutes by a nice smiling young woman named Shernamah. She took care of us quickly, recommended a few things we asked about in the area (Buffets), asked about my Russian accent/complimented me & directed us out to the lot.

Then came only the small hitch in our good review. The person who brings the cars up to the customer waiting area seemed to forget two of the customers waiting for suvs.

After about 20 minutes I saw Andrew the bus driver dropping new customers again & he was surprised we were still waiting. He told us a bit about his recent trip to Niagara Falls after we told him we were going there & asked him for suggestion which he seemed happy to share with us. He said we should go right back in & get one of the reps to check on the car/suv.

We went back to Shernamah & she took care of it right away. Car was nice Jeep & clean. It worked great during our trip.

When we got back from our vacation a week later we saw both Andrew & Shernamah again by accident & they remembered us & asked how we enjoyed Niagara Falls (a lot!) & they are both so nice to all of us.

Bus showed up as soon as we arrived back & we had a good bus driver named Sherry on the way back from Dollars drop off lot. Something was wrong with the rental lot attendants mobile computer to accept dropped off rental cars so there was a delay & Sherry told us she would wait for us to get our drop off receipt for the car which took us about 5 more minutes in the office.

Like I started this review.... I usually hate the whole rental lot process & hate writing reviews but these people turned it into a very pleasant experience for us this time. So many people hate their jobs but these people were awesome to us.

The gentleman at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The reviews for this place that we read were not great however our experience upon picking up our car was great. Lets see how the return goes. So far great experience

We rented a car at the Detroit Metro location. I am a Dollar Express member. The counter clerks were very pleasant. Their service was good. When we got to the car I found that one of the back seatbelts would not retract or extend. We were a total of 4 passengers. I went back to the office, told the clerk of my problem and was told to go pick any car to the right of my initially assigned car. We did and actually were able to pick a larger car. When we got to the exit we were asked why we weren't in our initially assigned car. We told them that all the seatbelts didn't work and that the clerk in the office said to pick a different car. The gate attendant might have called to the office as our wait was not more than a couple of minutes. We were on our way and the car worked out great for us.

I rented a full sized car Feb. 5-7,2016. I was very pleased with the customer service I received
from beginning to end. I felt embraced with kindness and concern for my comfort at the same time
all instructions for return and usage were made very clear to me. I appreciated the clarity, Thank
you very much, I rented the car at the Detroit (DTW) airport location.

My husband and I rented a Brick Enclave and a sweet Jeep a couple of weeks ago. The environment was was fast and fun and they provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately, we do not remember the names of the individuals who assisted us but we would like to thank the entire staff at the Detroit Metro airport.

Nachelle turned my whole day around with her kindness. After an awful experience at Hertz she really made sure my family and I were ok. Even though they are under hertz I'll go there again. Maybe the people at Hertz need to take a lesson on how to treat their customers

The customer service was very nice, the employees waited even though our plane was very delayed. They told us over the phone that they will wait. I will rent from this place anytime again. The car was clean, only 3000 miles on it. Very good experience!
