Have been taking advantage of the diverse landscape of NJ, and very happy I visited this place. Trails are great, well maintained, but you have to bring some sort of bug repellent (eco friendly of course), to avoid getting violated (everywhere, their mouths.... they were... they were. EVERYWHERE! ).

Such a special and magical place! There are many trail crossings yet each one is marked and extremely well. The trails closer to the nature center have more benches. The center was closing up when I finished my hike and they were very gracious and welcoming. You can tell the facility and staff are very well loved and cared for. There are fairy and herb gardens galore! Great place for imaginations to run wild—children and adults alike. Can’t wait to come back in the warmer months.

We had warm weather today for January and enjoyed our first hike here. The paths were muddy but waterproofed hiking boots didn’t stop us going. We saw kids wearing long rain boots which I would highly recommend to easy cleaning after the hike. We first took Yellow trail which was very quiet. Green trail at boardwalk was slippery. We took Red trail to see observation and finish with blue trail. It took us about an hour. Such a beautiful easy hike. We will definitely come back in different seasons. We enjoyed learning about swamp and animals at environmental center as well.

An obsoletely gorgeous area which is teeming with wildlife. We hiked the 2.5 mile red trail and did not see a single other person, but we did see plenty of wildlife and beautiful scenery! Highly recommend you use large amount of powerful bug spray, this is the Great Swamp after all! Enjoy the natural silence and beautiful scenery while taking a leisurely hike through the area.

A great place for a short to medium hike through the Great Swamp. The trails diverge in many paths, so you can easily choose your own route. Taking the short loop around the first pond will only take you 15 minutes, but if you stick to the perimeter it may take you over two hours to complete.

I recommend walking to the boardwalk sections on the north side of the park. The Boondocks boardwalk trail has been recently renovated and brings you to a beautiful part of the swamp. Wear a good pair of waterproof hiking boots; sections of the trail can get very muddy, especially in the spring.

There are great trails with bird blinds. It is peaceful. Also the best attraction for the kids is the Raptor sanctuary. They have bald eagles, golden eagles falcons, hawks and much more.

NJ Audubon morning bird walk with 20 people led by Dave Oster was great for discovering new areas and birds (55 species for me).

The Environmental Education Center is one of NJ's BEST kept secrets! I was looking for a really nice location to host my daughter's baby shower, and when I found the EEC, I knew that after countless hours of looking, my search was over! Everything was terrific, from Jane in the office, being patient with me, answering my COUNTLESS questions, to Ben who was so lovely in sending me photos, as I was unable to get there ahead of time, and really wanted to see what the room looked like for decorating purposes, to Rich, who... bless his heart, had several pregnant women who were running hot and he did everything possible to keep the room cool. Everyone was helpful and lovely.

The restrooms have been redone and are quite nice, not what you would expect! Much nicer. Having access to a full kitchen was key for us, because we did our own catering. The food was prepared off site, but having a sink and fridge and prep area for final primping was so helpful, and the stove, to boil water for tea for our guests, and the coffee urn... These folks set up all of our tables to my specifications and they did it perfectly!

My daughter's shower was a HUGE success and MANY of our guests, including me, plan on returning to see the museum and trails and the MANY wonderful things the EEC has to offer. I HIGHLY recommend checking out their website and seeing the things they offer that would interest you and your family! Thank you so much to the staff at the EEC!

Wear your wellies when you visit. The paths are delightfully muddy and impassible wearing standard footwear. Only serious hikers with waterproof footgear will make it to the Boondocks!! So much fun. Boardwalks all over the back of the park. You have to try to get to both observatories in the baaaack of the park. Can you spot the bullet riddled abandoned car in the middle? Saw some white tail does, a shrieking osprey, sedge grass mounds, and a beaver dam today.

Absolutely loved the walking trails and boardwalk section. However I do want to point out that despite Google’s amenities section saying that dogs are permitted, there are signs that say NO DOGS ALLOWED when we got there which was disappointing and misleading. :(

Turning around the branta pond was enjoyable. I was there with a three- year old and it was good to have experience to know the some plants.

More of scenic long walk than a hike, fairly flat and easy. Cool trails

Nice park for a quick stroll. Didn't hike too far in because things were quite flooded the day we went. Ended up here because the road to the Great Swamp and Raptor Trust was closed due to flooding. Cool Environmental Center with helpful staff. Looks like you can do some canoeing there if you like. Would be a nice place to spend a couple hours with kids, doing a free educational activity.

Great place for a 5+ mile hike. Most of the paths are well maintained but there are some spots that have rough spots. The smaller loop of the 2 loops are better maintained than the larger loop. Most of the pathes are well shaded.

Be sure to bring bug spray.

I checked out the free tree giveaway on Arbor Day. I also drove over to the canoe launch area which is excellent well maintained meant I could find nothing wrong with it and everything right was there. I guess maybe a bathroom would be nice but that would be very expensive and there is one down the road at the main Park Center.
