A small urban zoo that you can easily spend 1-2hrs at with your partner, kids or friends! Affordable, good for any weather, and convenient for any kind of transportation.

One of the cheaper zoos in the area. The wonderful thing about this zoo is that most of the exhibits are indoors. The Discovery Trail is outdoors but very shady. The Barn is outdoors (in the colder months, the barn has heat). The zoo is easy to navigate; everything circles around the sea lions.

P.S. Bring quarters to feed the ducks in the Discovery Trail and hooved animals in the barn!

Parking - nothing on-site but street parking is available. on the weekends, it's best to arrive early for an easy spot right out front. On Sundays, street parking is free.

Entrance - the main entrance is in the park, walkway entrance towards the corner of Flatbush and E Lake Dr (toward Ocean Avenue). in the spring or summer, the entrance on Flatbush Avenue is oftentimes open as well.

Food and Drinks - water fountains by the bathroom. minimal food and drinks, snacks available in the gift shop. plenty of food options nearby but wish I could do more to support the zoo directly.

Bathrooms - very clean and located by the sea lions and barn

Smaller zoo, but well-organized and isn't very overwhelming but not boring either. There is a nice variety of animals to see and it isn't really that crowded. It's also good that most of the animals are indoors or in enclosed spaces, which makes it a zoo you can go to even when it's raining. Unfortunately, the zoo is closed indefinitely.

It's perfect if you want to visit the animals and not have to deam with tons of people. If you want to see a large variety of animals or exotic animals, this isn't the place. But if you want a nice leisurely day with the kids this is a great choice.

This is small but cute and interesting zoo located inside gorgeous prospect park. You could visit this zoo by yourself or continue exploring whole prospect park. For small kids, adults and whole family, this would a pleasant time spent over the weekend. Remember, if you would like to see sea lions fed, you need to know the times ahead. This information is on the website.

I had the most amazing experience here!! The zoo is a perfect size for young children. There’s a big variety of animals but the actual zoo isn’t ok big, making it easier to walk around with children. There was plenty opportunities for the kids to be interactive with the animals. I had a wonderful time. Definitely a must visit for families.

The Prospect Park Zoo is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. It's conveniently located inside Prospect Park, and admission is only $10. While the zoo isn't too big, the animals that live there are very lively. I really enjoyed spending time watching the baboons, especially one particularly cute family with a baby baboon. The sea lions near the entrance were very active, friendly and talkative too. Discovery Trail also made for a nice outdoor nature walk, and it was fun to see the porcupines and ducks living there. They had some prepacked sandwiches, salads, and snacks inside, which were fine, but I would probably bring my own next time to avoid the cost.

Very enjoyable zoo for cheap!! The animals were well taken care of, and the descriptions of each animal were well written. The zoo was clean and the staff were very friendly! It's definitely a good place to visit if you are in Brooklyn.

I have stopped by this cute little zoo several times in the past with today being my most recent visit. It might not be a large zoo, especially in comparison to the Bronx Zoo, but it has enough animals and exhibits to entertain a small child. The price of admission is $9.95 for an adult and $6.95 for a child, which I find extremely reasonable. They have a really cool barn with adorable friendly farm animals that can be hand fed. They also have a cafe/gift shop which has vastly improved since the last time I was here. The cafe part might be limited on food options, but they have really nifty gifts and toys. Be on the lookout of all the zoos friendly resident peacocks that are walking around so children won't be startled if they approach them. I definitely recommend anyone (whether solo or with a family) to check out this zoo. It is really a great place to spend a few hours every once in a while.

This isn’t a super big zoo but it’s still a nice decent zoo. Small enough to walk the whole zoo and not have my kids complain about being too hot or too tired but big enough where you get to see different animals. It’s clean also. A small petting zoo area and a feeding ducks area which the pigeons have also found their way to. Nice time with my kids.

My family enjoyed the visit, its a small zoo but you got time to see everything. My kids favorite part was the barn animals where you can feed/pet them. Gift shop is pricey, but kiddos love the souvenirs!

Amazing zoo that I overlooked and didn't consider the vast amount animals and nice area to walk similar to the Bronx but closer to home.

Had a good time. Tickets have entry times but you can stay in there for as long as you want once your inside. Hand sanitizers are posted throughout the zoo. Was surprised to see the peacocks walking around freely. They were friendly and eating food from people and just going about their merry way. The barn feeding was a nice touch. Wasn’t too crowded which was good. The cafe wasn’t much of a cafe. More of a gift shop with few snacks. We literally got through the whole zoo in about an hour and a half. It’s small but good enough if you don’t want to go all the way to the Bronx. Overall had a good time. Would recommend for kids as well as adults.

Cute little zoo but it's a little too small.
Wonderful for toddlers to roam around and see animals. Lots of exhibits were closed or work in progress so we didn't get to see much.

My favorite is the barn area where there are sheeps, goats and lamas. They allow you to buy feedings to feed to animals. Fun interactions!

They do have a few peacock roaming around the area so that was a pleasant surprise.

Staff were located at a reasonable distance so handy when needing help or first aid.

Small zoo with a few but still interesting and exotic animals. Lots of small activities spread throughout and close by in the park. Took about 2 hours to do everything including eating our packed lunch with a three year old. Peacocks everywhere like the most beautiful moaning pigeons!

Good little zoo. Perfect for kids. The sea lion show is a must see. Too many beautiful things to mention any. Else, I would spoil the fun. Anyway check the red pandas too.

This zoo is small. But still is a good place to go. First of all, it is close to us in Brooklyn. I don't need to Bronx zoo. Second, it has many animals. There is a sea lion training at 11:30. My daughters are so happy.

This is a nice but small zoo. Due to covid, all indoor attractions are closed, but you can still see the sea lions, go on the discovery trail, and visit the barn. My family spent a fun 50 minutes here, but if the indoor attractions were open, we would have visited for longer. You do have to reserve tickets ahead, and not take the chance of there not being enough tickets for everyone in the group. It's worth it too get a zoo membership so you can come here as often as you'd like.
