I don’t give 5 stars but this one deserves it! From impeccable service to elevated Indian food like you’ve never had before, this restaurant wins all the awards. I have been a fan for years and go regularly. Try the fresh dishes and also the Tamarind Margarita Up. The appetizers are yummy and the mains are out of this world. They have a beautiful wine list and incredible service. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and kind. The halibut is one of my favorites. If you want to impress someone, this is the place to come. And don’t forget to also try all the desserts. You can’t go wrong here.

Tamarind Restaurant in Tribeca, NY, is nothing short of a culinary marvel, offering an exceptional dining experience that stands out in the vibrant New York food scene. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by an atmosphere that perfectly balances elegance with warmth, making it an ideal spot for both casual and special occasions.

The food at Tamarind is a delightful journey through exquisite flavors and innovative dishes. Each plate that arrived at our table was a testament to the chef's mastery and passion for culinary excellence. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were balanced, and the presentation was artful, making every bite an unforgettable experience.

What truly elevated our dining experience, however, was the service, particularly our waiter, Dekiy. Dekiy's attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and genuine care for our dining experience were remarkable. She had an impeccable timing, always there when we needed her but never intrusive, ensuring our meal progressed smoothly and pleasantly. Her recommendations were spot on, guiding us through the menu to make selections that suited our tastes perfectly.

Dekiy's professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our evening, making us feel truly special and well taken care of. It's rare to find such dedicated and thoughtful service, and Dekiy is undoubtedly a shining star in Tamarind's exceptional team.

Tamarind Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy amazing food with equally impressive service. It’s a place where every detail is considered, ensuring a memorable dining experience. We left with full bellies, warm hearts, and the certainty that we would return. A heartfelt thank you to Dekiy and the entire team at Tamarind for making our visit truly exceptional.

Absolutely love this place for lunch and dinner. I went there on Saturday for my wedding anniversary lunch and the service was spectacular. We ordered lunch prefix menu which included one appetizer, two entrees and one desert.

Being vegetarian for appetizer. I ordered tomato soup, in entrees I ordered paneer curry and spinach saag. All entrees are served with jeera rice and naan.

The dessert was absolutely tasty. We ordered moong dal halwa and kesar kulfi.

They have great Indian style cocktails my fav being Tamarind Margarita.

Food is delicious, reasonably priced for 5 star restaurant. Perfect place to celebrate any special occasion!!! Highly recommend ❤

I absolutely LOVE Tamarind Tribeca. I would take the lower-rated comments with a grain of salt because I had an incredible experience and this is my 2nd time coming. I’ve dined at Indian restaurants all over the world and this place is in the top 3. The prices are very reasonable and you’re getting a high quality meal for the price you pay. Other Indian restaurants charge double the price for average service that isn’t memorable. Tamarind Tribeca wins 5 stars in Service, Atmosphere, and Food for me!

The second you walk in the staff is ready to help you and check you in for your reservation. Once you’re seated, you’re given warm cleansing wipes to prep for eating. After appetizers, the staff presents you a large clean hot plate ready for the main meal. Everyone was helpful and attentive.

The cuisine was delicious and probably the best Dal Makhani I’ve had from a restaurant. Drinks are also amazing and you have to order the pistachio kulfi for dessert!

Tamarind has to be one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is amazing, very refined and flavorful. The food is also not very spicy and can be enjoyed by anyone. The service here is amazing and the staff really ensures that everything you have is perfect and that you are well taken care of. Every time I have been, the food has been wonderful. The last time I went, I did the tasting menu and it was perfect for a big group and we got to choose between a couple different menus. I definitely recommend the lamb which is perfectly cooked and spiced. The food came out quick and was perfect. They also have the best lychee martini and the margaritas were so good as well. The ambiance is also amazing and really great for big groups of people or intimate dinners.

Everything was absolutely phenomenal—especially the Punjabi goat curry! This has to be the best Indian food I’ve had in the states!

I highly recommend going to Tamarind to celebrate a special occasion! The chicken tikka masala, chicken takka tak, lamb vindaloo and saag paneer were incredible. For dessert, you must try the cardamom crème brûlée which was unlike anything I had before! I’d describe the menu as elevated traditional Indian food with exquisite flavor. Staff was very attentive (including to gluten free, all nuts and sesame allergies) and the ambiance of the whole restaurant was lovely.

Best Indian food in New York. The place is beautiful and staff are amazing. While that’s all nice, the food is out of this world. I’ve only recently discovered Indian food and have liked what I found. But I loved what I ate at Tamarind. I will be back on every trip to New York. A must go for anyone who likes Indian.

Really nice spot with a great ambience - been here a couple of times and have not been disappointed. The cocktails were really good and would definitely recommend any of the whiskey based ones. Also loved the service here - very friendly and amiable staff who will offer their opinions and help you decide on the right things to order. If you haven't been here, would definitely recommend you give them a try.

I love the fact that this restaurant has a cool upscale vibe, which all indian restaurants should get inspired from. The food tasted fresh and was well presented. The portion size was decent. We ordered two starters, a salad, two vegetables and one dal for four people and we could not finish all of it. The service was quick. Bonus points for late open hours, which accommodates tourists in NYC who usually have long evenings exploring the city.

Fairly expensive but also high quality Indian food. Nice & peaceful ambience and really attentive servers. I don’t remember what exactly we got but I have lots of pictures.

I made a reservation to have my birthday dinner here with my boyfriend, and it was wonderful. We’ve never had Indian cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere, and had put it off for a while because we were perfectly happy with our take-out Indian meals. But our experience here was unexpected and fulfilled every little bit of expectations.
We started off with the halibut app and lasuni Gobi which was one of the specials. It was perfectly cooked, crispy, flavorful, spiced, and overall a well curated delivery of flavor. For our meal, we had the meat tandoor special, goat mutton, and the lamb chop special with basmati. Every single bite was delicious, well thought, well prepared, and worth every inch of our bulging stomachs. It was hard to imagine how Indian food could get better than our usual take out at Benares. But there is such a thing as doing everything perfectly, and it offers an incredible dining experience. The cocktails were also excellent. We finished our meal with a pot of Darjeeling and a lovely mango cheesecake, service of the restaurant for my birthday. Most of all, we appreciated the service. Very often, fine-dining atmospheres can feel structured and corporate, but the staff here was friendly, charismatic, and oh so charming. I would be happy to have dinner here for every single occasion.

Wowowow! Id say this is Indian/American because they use a lot of ingredients that are not really part of the Indian cuisine but when it comes to spices and flavors, it’s all there. Portions are good. We had two apps, two entrees, a side of rice and naan and 2 desserts . I was stuffed . Slept 10h after this meal lol , but I’d do it again .

The highlight was definitely the spicy lamb and the cocktails (OMG my mouth is watering just by remembering them) .

Service was amazing and staff was very nice . My friend has some important allergies, nevertheless the server was quite knowledgeable about the dishes and was able to recommend some good options suitable for her .

The place still has the white table cloth (which I’m usually not a big fan of) but doesn’t feel old fashioned at all.

Id definitely go back

Tamarind is my place to go when I crave Indian food. I'm not into very spicy food so I appreciate the options availlable to me. The BATAKI KOSHA (Minced Duck Cooked With Onion, Ginger, Garlic, Garam Masala Hand Rolled In A Rice Crepe) is one of my favorite dishes there. KOLAMBI POLA *Prawns Sautéed In Coconut, Lemongrass, Dried Red Chilies, Spiced Chickpea Flour Cake) was great as well as the CHICKEN SHAHI KORMA (Roasted Chicken In A Saffron Cashew Sauce) with garlic naan. And the margaritta was nice and strong.

Food was excellent. We happened to be a large group, so we shared a lot of food and everything was absolutely great. Everyone in the group loved the food.

We reserved a table for our engagement anniversary. The restaurant is open and has a clean contemporary feel to it with Indian touches to the decor. The first thing i would like to highlight is the incredible service. Our server Adrian was attentive, friendly and professional. We really liked Adrian’s recommendations and he attended us with a smile. Steven from his supporting staff diligently took care of us, cleared the plates soon after we were done with each course, laid out fresh plates for each course (dinner plates came out hot!), and made sure we were hydrated. Service at this place was memorable, they nailed it.

As for the food, it lived up to the raving quality described in other reviews. For the evening we had:
1. Mr. Walia - 5/5 - coriander and chilli in a cocktail! Yes and they nailed it, was delicious
2. Hara Bhara Kebab - 5/5 - Melts in the mouth
3. Aloo Tikki - 4/5 - was good, but was not memorable
4. Paneer Lababdar - 5/5 - perfectly spiced, creamy and flavorful
5. Garlic Naan - 5/5 came out hot and was delicious
6. Vegetable Pullav - 4/5 - complimented the paneer entree well

Overall a memorable experience with exceptional service and delicious food, definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great Indian restaurant in the area!

Great Indian restaurant for a special occasion.

The quality is outstanding and the service is very good as well.

I enjoyed the grilled thali with chicken kebabs, lamb chops and grilled coconut shrimp. However the mushroom butter diish was time pass.

The mushroom and truffle naan is good, so is the lachcha parantha.

The recommended brunello paired well with the grilled dishes.
