Commons Cafe

It is almost impossible to elucidate all of the reasons why I absolutely LOVE this cafe. The food is delicious - the House Salad is scrumptious, the Hibiscus iced tea served in a lovely glass is delicious, and the pastries are excellent, especially the macaroons, which are beyond delicious, and the Ginger Cookie with the lemon icing. But it is also the diversity of patrons I love, the feeling of being part of a community, the fact that one can be surrounded by patrons but can still focus on a book or do work on a computer, the diversity of events held in the back room, which adds to the diversity of the patrons, and the fact that the walls have been painted with lovely colors, and they now serve wine and beer. It is a lot of fun to spend time in this cafe, and observe all that is going on! Also, it appears to be an excellent place to hold events, such as musical gatherings, film showings, improv gatherings and plays. I have no idea how one schedules an event here, but I think one could easily call and find out. I really love this cafe. And the staff is sweet and works hard!

One of my good friends recommended Commons Café… It is truly a great place to meet up with family and friends. From day one Marisa, Diana and Shakespeare were Amazingly Exceptional. They carry themselves extremely professional, they are genuine with the service they provide, and I love that they are down to earth and compassionate when interacting with the customers. My experience has far surpassed any expectations… I have enjoyed countless more visits and have become a regular.

I continue to thank my friend Sandra for her recommendation… This is definitely my go-to place when meeting others in my network and socially.

I love this place. I will miss coming here every afternoon for my lunch break. (My temp assignment is ending). The staff are so very friendly and warm, the food is really great and so is the coffee. I love the relaxing, spacious, artsy environment. Always a nice time here!! I will be coming to visit in the future!!

Solid cafe with great space, fast wifi, yummy coffee and food and friendly staff. They are an open community space and unfortunately, a bigot booked their space which has created some balleyhoo. Do not let that deter you - this is a good neighborhood place that is offering a valuable service (both from a workspace and community gathering standpoint).

Just moved to the neighborhood and this became my new go to coffee shop. The staff are all around awesome and really make you feel welcome. Their prices are fairly moderate compared to other coffee shops in the same area.

Good food. Lots of gluten free and organic options. They do a lot for the community by hosting community meetings and posting signs for local services. And the staff is very nice. Support small business!

The place is spacious and comfortable. They also have a stage area where bands practice which creates a lively atmosphere. Prices aren't too high either.

A cafe in the front and a venue space in the back, the Commons Cafe has quickly become a popular venue for politics conversations, activism and the arts in Brooklyn. The food is not bad either!

A great place to work while people watching and hearing the most bizarre and interesting conversations. You never know what you'll find here. The cold brew is really good.

Great place to bring your laptop and settle down for a bit. Good food, good people. Venue plays host to many eclectic events in the evenings.

Small but cute! There's a small performance space in the back. The food is great! And the employees are always so friendly!

Great neighborhood cafe. They host a lot of progressive political events and they have wine and sandwiches in addition to coffee and such.

Good drinks, very friendly service. Not many vegan options, but there are a few they're good.
