State of Ohio Computer Center

Yesterday [10-19-2021], I walked past the State of Ohio Computer Center for my first time in approximately ten years.

Between 2007 and 2013, I would regularly walk from my at-the-time home [in western Upper Arlington near Griggs Dam] to my at-the-time job near the OSU campus.

Part of my route would involve walking immediately south of the State of Ohio Computer Center, first on a curved sidewalk [beginning near the east end of Berkshire Rd.] and then across the State of Ohio Computer Center's parking lot. I would then exit that parking lot [near the little guard house]; I would then continue walking towards the "Carmack 5" parking lot [on OSU's West Campus]; I would then take an OSU bus to OSU's main campus.

I would reverse that route while walking home. I had memorized that route so that I would be able to walk it even in complete darkness.

Another "walking option" near the State of Ohio Computer Center [that I would use only when absolutely necessary] had been a barely-walkable dirt road, slightly further south than my traditional route, that had always been extremely difficult to navigate because of many large and deep holes that are often filled with water. I would never walk that route after dark.

I am sad to report that the curved sidewalk has been removed and that the State of Ohio Computer Center parking lot is now enclosed by a fence, which means that the barely-walkable dirt road is now the only option by which to walk through that area.

Thankfully I no longer need to walk that route.
