Sidney James Mountain Lodge - Downtown Gatlinburg

Our room was older but comfortable and had everything we needed AND it was clean. The location is PERFECT. We could sit on the balcony and listen to the river and it was so quiet and relaxing. It’s very quiet at night. The red trolley stops directly at the hotel and took us right to the parkway. We never had to worry about driving or paying for parking the whole time we were there. The staff is amazing. So sweet and helpful and friendly! The pool area is fabulous and also well cared for and clean as well. And the little cafe is perfect for breakfast and snacks. And the bears! If you want to see a bear this is the place! I’ve been visiting the smokies since I was a kid and this is the first time I’ve got to see a bear. We come about twice a year to Gatlinburg and will be staying here EVERY time from now on!

This place is an absolute gem. Stayed in the King jacuzzi suite. Hotel sits just off the beaten path but with a very reasonable walking time. The staff was fantastic. I love all the nooks and crannies that you'll come across. My husband and I have decided we will be making this our Gatlinburg hotel. If you are bougie and are expecting absolute modern features, you will probably be disappointed however we are big fans of originality and history. The room itself was extremely clean and the cafe has a really good food. You also have a really scenic barbecue pit area that sits next to the roaring stream. Don't judge a book by its cover.

The location was great. It was close to the thoroughfare but not too close if that makes sense. The room was great. We loved the fireplace and solely used it for heat. The staff at the front desk were great and answered any questions we had and helped us with anything that came up. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

We stayed at Sidney James the week of Christmas, the folks that checked us in were Awesome! The location was slightly away from all the town hoopla, but a bus stop that loops the town was perfectly close. It was a bit chilly, so the heated pool/spa indoors was convenient. If you like a cold plunge during winter, you always could use the outside pool. The fireplace was so comfy in the cabin, we had to make cookies! Thanks you to the staff for the cookie pan, we put it to good use!

Always enjoy staying at Sidney James Mountain Lodge! The trolley comes right by the front lobby so no need to have to fight and pay for parking downtown. The indoor pool was crowded but with such a good place to stay that’s to be expected. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and definitely made us feel welcome!

What a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely nice. Only somewhat of a complaint, would be that you have to clean your own room and go to the desk to get clean linen. The indoor pool and hot tub was amazing. I will definitely go back.

My husband & I stayed here overnight and it was our favorite hotel. We only love a few hours away, so we come up to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area about 3-4 times a year, so we have stayed at a bunch of hotels in the area, but this was our favorite by far. I was worried because the rooms looked older, but the rooms were nice and well kept. The appearance of the rooms do give older vibes, but still well worth it to stay here. We got the jacuzzi suite and it was the most spacious jacuzzi suite we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in a lot. The tub was massive, the room was very spacious. Had a couch, TV, fireplace, king bed jacuzzi, and huge mirrors everywhere including over the bed. It was cool to see. Not only that, but they had an outdoor pool, indoor pool, indoor children's pool, indoor hot tub, and a sauna. All the pools and even the outdoor was heated, so the water was not uncomfortable to get it. The indoor pool even had like the cool little tunnel you could swim through and had a massive waterfall beside thew pool.
They also had a little Cafe restaurant, but that was closed. The service was average. Nothing extraordinary, but it was still decent. The Gatlinburg strip of shops was only half a mile away, so it was easier to park there and walk to the strip instead of paying for parking at the strip.
My only complaint about the rooms is that the bed was a little hard.

To have fun, you don't need anything fancy. This place is amazing, nice. The pool, sauna, and hot tub are great. The front desk was very nice to us. Even the night visitors love it. I truly recommend that whoever wants to have fun visit Sidney Mountain Lodge. There is no microwave in the room. But a good-sized fridge is available.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Sidney James Mountain Lodge. Everything was exceptionally clean and nice. We especially enjoyed the indoor pool and kiddy area for our 4 year old. Even when the bathroom light went out in our room, it was fixed very promptly. We will definitely be back!

Great place. Friendly, helpful staff. Good location, we could take the trolly to a lot of things we wanted to do. Not a terrible walk from the shops either. Indoor pool and hot tub is the coolest thing I've ever seen. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The walk to the pool was a cold one in the middle of December, and it did get a bit crowded sometimes as it was a small pool, but we adopted. Rooms were clean. Parking was easy. Can't beat it for the price. They even accommodated us staying an extra night.

We enjoyed everything. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the location was convenient. We got breakfast from the snack bar by the pool and were pleased. We will definitely be back!

We love Sidney James Mountain Lodge. We especially love the creek side rooms. We have never stayed there and not seen a bear. We love this hotels pool & hot tub they are always clean and warm. Sidney James is also so close to everything on the Gatlinburg Strip. The Hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to help if needed.

Parking is tight, layout of hotel takes some getting used to, depending on where your room is. Check in was super easy and the gentlemen at the front desk was super friendly, provided a map of the hotel, and menus to the cafe. Our kids are 4 and 2 and we were conveniently located on the first floor. We had dinner once and breakfast twice at the Poolside Cafe - kind of pricey but not any more than we would pay at a restaurant and had a generous military discount; but was like a home cooked meal so it was very good and great portion sizes and the staff was very friendly. It was convenient for us having young children — restaurants can usually be a pain due to the waiting. The indoor pool was the BEST we have ever experienced. Temperature was great. My two year old loved the wading pool and it was perfect for him to just play in with his toys. My daughter loved the “cave” in the big pool. We walked to the Parkway the first evening and it wasn’t too bad of a walk, pushing a double stroller. Definitely an incline coming back from the Parkway but doable. Rooms are dated but clean, hot showers and great water pressure. Love that it’s a trolley stop and we used that one day to avoid parking fees downtown. We would stay here again!

Sidney James is my favorite place to stay in Gatlinburg. We even have a favorite room. We visit several times a year. My fiance actually proposed to me last time we visited. I love the creek and the bear visits. The hot tub and sauna are great as well. I can never wait to return!

Staff was very friendly. Had a creekside room, which had a small patio so we could sleep with door open and listen to the water flowing. Was very quiet since we were away from street. Room was very clean and well put together. Beds were comfortable. My only complaint really was the shower head restricted flow. We used the indoor pool and hot tub which felt great after a long day of travel. Great value for price paid. We didn't use the trolley system but would have if we would have stayed in town longer. Would stay here again.

About two blocks from the strip. A nice walk. Staff was friendly. Pool facilities were clean and enjoyable. Beautiful landscaping. We had a balcony room with 2 queen beds. The bathroom was small but the room was clean and fully stocked.

We left today , after staying 3 nites. This place was great! Our room was huge and we enjoyed everything about it. Very clean rooms and comfy beds. Very thick mattress and pillows! The staff was great and very friendly and helpful! Walking distance to the parkway . A bit of a hike back up the hill to motel from the parkway but the trolleybus is free so no problems there! Drops you off right at the front door! Great price too! This place deserves more than 5 stars. We will be back for sure! Also has a restaurant and inside pool that the kids will love!

We were here for 2 nights 3 days, on February 2024.
We enjoyed our stay. The room was just what we needed. Loved the generous counter by the small fridge was perfect for setting up the food we brought with us.
Pool and hot tub were excellent. Pool inside was heated. Cafe by Pool was priced well and tasted good.
There was a creek by the hotel with and access to it. Loved sitting by it and relaxing.

The staff were excellent, informative, and helpful. So friendly.

There's a trolly stop right infront of the hotel. Trolly is free.

This place has lots of room options. And have many rooms on ground floor. They also have an elevator for the second floor.

The only negative is the pillows are awful. I would recommend bringing your own and extra blankets if you sleep cold.

We booked this hotel for a quick 2 day Dollywood trip. It was a great stay overall. The room and grounds were clean, the hotel staff were courteous, and the location is great. The parking situation can be a bit confusing but they provide a map so you don’t accidentally use the incorrect lot. It’s right on the creek that runs through which you can sit and grill next to. No doubt when we come back to the area, we will stay here again.

My family and I have stayed at Sidney James Mountain Lodge numerous times and would recommend it to anyone. It is always clean, the staff is helpful and the hot tub and pools are great. The food from the cafe is delicious and should you want to go to the Gatlinburg strip it's a short walk down hill. They also have a trolley stop right out front if walking is not an option.
