The guys at Outboard Motor Service are not only some of the best outboard repair experts but they also take the time to explain what they are doing and why! You can't find that kind of service and knowledge sharing, especially in the boating industry. Lee and Mark are good guys that enjoy what they do. The only potential problem is lead time as they can get pretty busy, especially during the boating season. If you have to wait, it will be worth it - use your kayak for a week or two!

Mark is the best!! He has a great support crew too, including his wife. We were desperate to find someone who knew older carburetor engine repairs. We took our boat with 130 hp Evinrude to 2 other repair shops close to Xenia and Waynesville. They couldn't diagnose the problems, but they sure tore the engine up, taking it apart and not putting it back together properly. When Mark got a hold of it, he turned everything around. Our 1995 engine runs great, purrs like a kitten, and is operating better than when it was new. We are so grateful, and would recommend him to all.

Lee and Mark worked on your boat for a good couple hours. Got timing set,put a new prop on, new cables. We were having problems getting full speed and boat not starting every time. I highly recommend this place especially your older outboard motors. They are very knowledgeable and know what they are doing. They went over the boat with a fine tooth comb. They also were priced very reasonable. Thanks Lee and Mark! ( P.s. sorry about the snake that was in the motor, scared Lee too death ) but on other note the boat is running and sounds great now

After reading all of the reviews, I must say that the majority of us are in agreement with the quality of work and the vast knowledge of outboards that Mark and Lee both demonstrate. As far as their personalities go, you really need to get to know them. They can be a little harsh it seems but they are very nice guys. They bailed me out of many issues with my outboard and were at first hesitant to do anything with it. BUT, they (Mark) took it on and did an outstanding job. Mark found many issues that were over looked by a previous shop that did a total rebuild of my powerhead. Heck, Mark even took a "shot of voltage" from my engine cover while searching for a short! He found it!! I spent 2 days in the shop with them and I observed them in action both with the repairs and dealing with the public. They are very professional in their ways. I would not hesitate to go back to them. I should have went to them 1st on the rebuild for guidance even if they did not want to take on my project. Live and learn. I thought I bought a lemon but Mark has it all dialed in and I am back on the water.
I highly recommend Outboard Motor Service!

These guys are the best! I went to a big name shop in Catawba where I spent $6,000 and one engine would not even run at the launch ramp. These guys repaired all the work they did and then some for less than 1/3 of the cost. Honest and dependable. I talked to Lee ahead of time and he knew my engines inside and out. You will not be disappointed!

The ONLY people I would let work on any of my outboards anymore..Mark and Lee are a cut above the rest believe me. They fixed my 200 HP Evinrude Vindicator while other mechanics couldn’t figure it out. Been all over the shoreline trying to find some reputable outboard mechanics.. I really can’t ever remember writing a review before but I’m telling everyone these guys ARE the best. I find them to be the most up front, honest trustworthy people in the business. It’s only a 2 man operation but their quality is what counts. They even explain things and teach you about your motor...

These boys are not the cheapest place in town to get your motor worked on but let me tell you what they are. They are the only mechanic I will take my johnson/evinrude motors to. The old man is an expert tech. He can pull the cowling off and tell you how long the motor has been sitting around outside or in storage. He can tell you if it's gonna be worth working on or not. You won't have to worry about the motor running good when you get it back from them because it's gonna run better than it did when it was brand new. These guys are the best in the business.

I took my boat to lee and Mark after expericing some issues with both my engines. They took the boat in even tho they didn’t have much room for it (it’s a big boat). They went through both engines. repaired and replaced what ever they found wrong and they water tested it. Both engines run better then they ever have. I picked the boat up last Friday and received a follow up call from lee on Saturday to make sure I was 100% satisfied! The call in itself was very nice knowing these guys care about the work they do! I would highly recommend using them and I know I will be from here on out!

Once again I must give high praises to these men. They are truly experts with Evinrude motors. I can't say enough. When I have a problem with my motor they know just what it is and fix it promptly. Thanks Mark and Lee!

I bought our old family boat after it had sat for 7 years and was over 20 years old. The outboard motor ran decent the first year I had it, but then would not run well at all the second year. I was really stressed about who to take it to, but finally decided to try Outboard Motor Service since they specialized in Johnson outboards and were only mechanics and not a dealership that would work on motors on the side. Let me say that I was immediately put to ease when I dropped off the boat and Lee popped the cover on the motor and immediately ran down the list of every bit of work that had been done on the motor since it was new in 1992. He had no idea that I personally knew the history of the motor, but he was right on with it. He found everything that was wrong with it and the motor is running as good as it did when it was brand new! I took the boat up to the river and it ran 63 mph as easily as it did in 1992. Even though the shop was full of boats they were working on, every time I was in there, they made me feel like I was the only client they had at the time and that they really cared about me and my boat. Their attention to detail is wonderful. You won't be disappointed.

I recently purchased a restored 1956 Crestliner Voyager with a 1957 35 horse Johnson. The motor was painted to original factory condition; however, it would not run. I was not concerned as I knew Mark and Lee would get it running, but had some reservations about damage to the new factory condition paint. No worries, Mark is a true craftsman and understood my trepidation. He took meticulous care not to damage the paint. I couldn't find a scratch or tool mark. Additionally, Lee ran the boat with me and explained all of the fine tuning controls and motor trim.

I couldn't imagine taking my classic restored boat and motor to anyone else for service. You will not find a more knowledgeable or personable shop than Outboard Motor Service , period.

On a rough lake day I took wake over my 225 ETec. As I called shops to see who could take a look at it, I told Mark that I believed it was hydrolocked. Knowing this, Mark explained the importance to quickly repairing and drying out the motor. He went above and beyond to give me instruction, answered numerous calls through the process, sto led the new plugs I needed, and even printed diagrams for me to understand how to index plugs properly. Without his knowledge and kindness to go above and beyond in helping me I would have faced inevitable doom of this engine and the end of my fishing season. I’m very grateful for professional, knowledgeable, honest and honest people like him!

The shop saved me from buying a new engine. My 130 Johnson wasn't running right and after others looked at I was told scrap it. I called and spoke to Lee he looked it over in less than an hour and said there is no reason to scrap it. In about week he posted a youtube video of the water test. It was running strong again. I would like to thank the guys for the great work they performed. It never hurts to get a second opinion but I would definitely stop here first next time

Mark and Lee are true Craftsmen and mechanics when it comes to outboard motors. I had some work done and due to a defective part from the manufacturer I called Lee and he came to my location to help me. Turned out to be a defective part from the manufacturer, thanks to their skill and abilities I'm enjoying the Lake once again.

Want to thank Lee and Mark for getting our Evinrude Ocean Pro 150 back in running order. They bent over backwards to find the problem with the electrical system. We were all pulling our hair out, but they spent many hours working on it until they found the problem and now we are back to fishing. They are two of the most professional men we know and you can't go wrong with them. They are the best of the best. Carl and Janice

Asked a few folks about getting work done on 84 Johnson 150 6cyl.”Ol smoky”. It ran ruff, but ran. Many recommended O M R In Port Clinton. After initial inspection, they told me what to expect, and was kept me informed of any issues. Trusted these folks all the way, but decisions were mine. Refreshing nowadays to find service of this caliber.
(Great job Mark & Lee)
Extremely knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Waited to try motor before posting reviews. WOW! Completely new machine (think they gave Ol Smokey a viagra) never had this type power/acceleration ever. extremely pleased with results.I also learned a lot thru process All my outboards go here now.

Running a 1995 Evinrude 150, I have found it necessary and comforting to have a top-notch mechanic to keep my boat on the water and running at peak performance. Not cutting corners and being thorough may in the end cost a little more but not having to walk home from the middle of the lake is worth every penny. I also appreciate that they will guide and advise me on DIY projects.

Ok these guys are simply the best. I had an old 1996 Evinrude that had a cracked blocked and they fixed it. In addition while I was on vacation I had a problem, called them, and they coached me through a fix...on the side of the road! Who does that?? The guys at Outboard Motor Repair. I've been boating for 45 years, had lot's of boats and I have never ran into to a service company like these guys. I drove my boat up from Mansfield and I'll keep doing that. A little advice...sell your crappy Mercury/Mariner and go with an Evinrude cause these guys can fix it if it ever breaks. Thanks again Mark and Lee!

First of all I will not buy any other brand of outboard besides johnson/evinrude because I found OMS 25 years ago. I pass several other reputable outboard mechanics on my 20 mile drive to their shop. I own 6 different outboards and every one of them runs like a top as a result of OMS. I ALWAYS know BEFORE their work begins what I'm looking at "investing" in a motor. Most of the time they are spot on but sometimes they come in UNDER their estimate. The part I appreciate the most about their service is the "free" knowledge I gain about every one of my motors as a result of just listening to them systematically going through what they've done and what to be "aware" of. That means a lot, as my life depends on these motors, to get me off the great lake of Erie when she turns nasty. Please understand that some people can never be satisfied no matter how far you bend over backwards for them and that you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear...but I gaurentee you'll have a running and dependable sows ear if Mark or Lee touch it.
