Western Slope SUP

My son and I took a half day guided SUP tour and had a great time. The water temps in July were cold but tolerable and a nice way to cool off on a hot day. The rapids were not hard to navigate, and our guide did a good job making sure my son felt comfortable and had a great time.

In hindsight we would probably have enjoyed the full day tour and wouldn't have had a problem covering 80% more distance than the half day tour. If you're debating between them, consider the full day as long as you're in good enough shape to be on the water for 4ish hours.

Half day guided trip at Gunnison NCA was perfect intro to rafting for my wife and kids. This is a local small business just doing it better, staff went out of their way to make sure we had a safe and enjoyable time both on and off of the water. "Bobcat" was a really great guide, try to have your best jokes and riddles ready 😉

Absolutely beautiful, awesome and fun experience for everyone! We did class 3 and was perfect for my 14 year old and 10 year old. Not too rough but had some splashing. They really enjoyed it. This is our 2nd time rafting first time in CO. Such a beautiful area. A shuttle drove us down to the water. Lovely drive. Daniel and Daysha were the best guides sweet and funny. They made us feel safe and really comfortable . We appreciated that. We enjoyed water rafting at lovely anthracite Creek, CO. Will do it again in a heartbeat! Definitely check them out.

Had a great time on our SUP River tour down the Gunnison. We have SUPed before on lakes and flat water, but never on the river. Our guide Amy is a local and knows the river well. Amy was awesome at guiding us safely down the river. We are glad we picked Western Slope SUP for our trip, and an experience my daughter and I won't forget.

What an awesome experience! Having my family along was ok too, I guess (just kidding - I love them). Our guides (Becca and Rosie) were very sweet and knowledgeable and safety was a primary consideration, which was very important as we had some first time paddle boarders. The gear was great with clean, top of the line everything. Their shop was organized and had a little bit of everything you might need. Above all we had a great family adventure and will do it again next time they are visiting!

What a great idea of Western Slope SUPʻs to combine harvesting peaches with floating through the Escalante and Dominguez Canyons of the Gunnison River! I booked the trip as a celebration for pulling off a busy and challenging summer, and what a great idea that was. The scenery was beautiful, our guides took care of every need including preparing us a delicious lunch sourced from North Fork Valley farms. New friendships were formed and we ate and took home the juiciest and yummiest peaches ever from Honey Rock Orchard. I definitely look forward to my next trip with Western Slope SUP!

Book a full day SUP River tour on the Gunnison River after visiting area wineries the day before. It was just my wife and I on the tour and we had a great time. The riverside provided lunch picnic was excellent and a needed break. This was our first time paddle boarding on a river and learned a lot of great skills. The section of the river is great for all abilities. The full day trip is worth it for the lunch, extra hike, and longer SUP tour. Great scenery! Great conversation! Great experience!

My family and I were recently in town for a family wedding and my brother (a former guide on the Gunnison river) said we had to check out Western Slope SUP. What a find!! We took our 15 year old son for his first whitewater trip and the Anthracite creek was just perfect. Our guide had lots of experience and was very safe (and super funny!!). We had a safety boat of other guides with us who were training along with the owner Daniel and everyone was top notch. I've experienced a number of outfitters over the years and I could not recommend them enough and would certainly encourage anyone in the area to check them out. Not to be missed!

We had a fantastic experience with Western Slope SUP. They were very accommodating and provided a great experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and helped make our experience great. I would highly recommend them! Next time, we plan to paddle board and kayak!

Daniel and his guides are the best. In addition to stand up paddleboards, he offers raft trips. We rafted with Becca, one of his guides recently, and saw a Class II/III part of the North Fork Gunnison river that is not next to a road. Becca was very skilled and professional. Couldn't ask for a better trip. Definitely recommend Western Slope SUP.

This was an unexpected "gem" of a find while our family visited Crawford after hiking the North Rim of the Black Canyon. Luckily we found Dan's SUP service in a local guide book. Dan and Joy were committed to safety but the excellent instruction led our family of four into feeling confident in manuevering the Level 1-2 rapids in no time. (Mom and Dad weren't quite as skilled as the 20 and 16 year old but there was no disappointment from the cool river dip on a hot day! )The trip to Eagle Rock was an interesting archaeological addition to this wonderful family memory. I would highly recommend this outing on an SUP! Thanks, Dan and Joy!

First time stand up paddle boarding. We did the full day river tour which included all necessary equipment, a lesson, a guided river tour, lunch and a small hike to an archeological site. It was so much more than I expected. Our guide, Landon, was very knowledgeable, fun and all around a great guide. Lunch was simple yet delicious. Landon set up a shaded lunch area and set out an amazing spread of delicious local food. Dan was very friendly and informative. Fun and easy rapids that were exciting for first timers. And areas of very still water to play in. They drive you to an entrance spot to the river and pick you up down stream to drive you back.
I would recommend this tour to all my friends and family. Had an absolute blast!!

What a great day kayaking down a cool river in the hot desert. Bobcat was a fantastic guide and SUP instructor. He was funny, patient, and knowledgeable. Can hardly think of a better way to spend a summer day!

We actually booked the wrong trip originally. The owner was very flexible and was able accommodate the change required on the day of the trip. Great customer service.

Our guide was very informative about geography, wildlife, and history. We enjoyed our easy-going float trip and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get out in nature.

Theses guys run a quality outfit. The boards and equipment are practically new and modern design. They were able to tell us the best places to go and there are some beautiful areas here.

Best of all, they are friendly and flexible. We changed a few things and they just rolled with it helping us have fun along the way. They made our family fun easy and good prices as well.

Our family had an awesome time floating on the Gunnison with our guides. They’d provided squirt guns for the kids and made it an even more enjoyable experience for all of us! Provided a great lunch and transportation, we just had to show up and have fun. We’d go back anytime!

Rented 2 SUPs for the afternoon. The equipment worked great and the man at the shop was very helpful and kind. Thanks for helping us have some fun!

I am late to this review (we worked with Western Slope SUP back in July) but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to post something about their amazing customer service!

We reserved 3 paddle boards for our camping trip. On the day of pick up, they reached out via phone and text (so awesome, as cell service in the area isn't great) to say that there had been a website glitch which allowed us to reserve paddle boards that had already been rented out for the day but that they had been able to move a few things around to get us 2 paddle boards and a kayak, which they rented us free of charge.

The staff was beyond helpful and accommodating. Accidents and glitches happen in every line of work and it just goes to show that it's not about the mistake, it's about how you fix it. They easily could have left us high and dry, and instead went out of their way to give us a memorable customer service experience. We'll definitely be back!

Daniel is the man!! Best paddle boarding experience we could have asked for . He gave us great tips on where to go and his boards were so much easier to blow up and pack up than any we have used before . I hope to make it back to western SUP in the near future and go on one of Daniel's guided tours !!
