Channel Bass Inn and Restaurant

This was our second stay at the Channel Bass Inn and it felt even better from the first! Which is hard to beat. You feel like you’re staying with family when you arrive with their warm welcome, tour and friendly talk to discuss the area and their recommendations. Dottie is the sweetest, she cleans the rooms and helps serve breakfast and very easy to talk too!

The breakfast is included and it’s always absolutely delicious. We also joined for afternoon tea and the menu + tea selection was amazing! Bill does an amazing job with the menus and truly has a talent with the food! We’ll definitely be back for a third time!

The owner was very understanding about rescheduling our trip for a later date. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival. The owner was in the middle of dinner service upon arriving. He personally stepped out of the kitchen to help us with our luggage. It did not go unnoticed. It was certainly a classy act of kindness. A staff member gave us a tour when we arrived. We enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast the next morning. The plate was piping hot and the breakfast and tea was great. It was beautifully presented. It was so nicely done that we decided to join later that afternoon for High Tea. The room was very clean. We had a wonderful experience for our first time on the Island. Thank you!

We arrived later than normal check in time, and Bill was more than welcoming and accommodating. Our room was large and comfortable. Dottie served us breakfast, and I believe she also cleans the rooms. She was very friendly, and did not make us feel rushed. A big plus for us is that they are pet friendly. We would definitely stay at Channel Bass again, and will be recommending it to others.

My friend and I stayed at the Channel Bass Inn back in July, and we had a wonderful experience. The room was spacious and incredibly clean, and I really loved how much personality the building has. The historic aspect appealed to me, and the decor gives it a nice, warm, comforting feeling. The breakfast was delicious, and every member of the staff was friendly and attentive. This place embodies good hospitality, and I really appreciated even the small things they do to make your stay great. You want a random cup of coffee in the middle of the day? It's there. Glass of wine? Help yourself. Forgot to bring beach chairs and towels? Grab a couple outside. They've thought of everything. We also took one of the local Tiki Boat tours, which Channel Bass catered, and the food was fantastic. In general, you can tell the owners really care about their guests and want to make sure their stay is perfect. Major kudos to the owners, Bill and Kristan. We'd love to visit again!

We had an amazing time at the Channel Bass Inn! My husband and I came here with my parents after they had an excellent stay last year. All the reviews about the food, the location, and the rooms are all true. I also want to shout out how amazing the staff are.

We ended up taking our trip with a dog, not ours, but one we’ve been long term sitting for a friend. We’ve had her for about 5 months and in all the time we’ve had her, we’ve known her to just hang out and lounge around when we’re gone. Unfortunately, she had a bit of separation anxiety while we were out and did some minor damage to the wall of our room as she tried to scratch to get out. The way the staff at Channel Bass Inn accommodated us, as we were hesitant to leave Chutney alone for fear of more damage, from then on out was amazing. Dottie, who changes rooms, offered to dog sit at the very beginning of the trip, and we ended up taking her up on it. She let our pup hang out with her all day while we went to the beach. Dottie spoiled our dog with love and treats, Chutney would even go looking for her every morning and night. Doug, went out of his way to serve us all meals on the patio so that Chutney could be with us and not alone in the room. Finally, when I told Bill about the damage, he was incredibly understanding! Obviously no one wants damage to their business, but I really appreciated how he made me feel less terrible for what happened.

I highly recommend Channel Bass Inn. It’s definitely set apart from anyplace I’ve ever stayed for the way they treated us!

Had a great dinner with my wife, the ambiance was fantastic, nice and quiet. Our waiter Doug greeted us with a “are you ready for an amazing meal?” That’s what you want to hear! Everything that was served was flavorful and thought out, something you don’t see at most restaurants. You could tell they put effort into the menu options. The complimentary wine was a nice touch too. Overall the Channel Bass was just a next level experience for dining on Chincoteague, and well worth checking out. What a wonderful hidden gem! We've been coming to chincoteague for years and just discovered them yesterday! So glad we made reservations and tried out something new! We had 6 courses, and every course was amazing. There was soooo much food! Doug and his sister were the most friendly hosts and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed! The menu changes daily so keep an eye out! They even messaged me promptly when I had questions! Can't wait to come again!

We did not stay here but, had dinner. It was a great experience! Our host/waiter, Ken was a great guide for dinner. Food was top notch to say the least. Will definitely be back soon.

Very interesting place to say the least. Honestly when we walked I was unsure what was going on or if I was in the right place. Breakfast menu was already done for us and they brought out a three course type meal which was pretty good. Really enjoyed the zucchini bread and the oatmeal. Pancakes with ricotta was different but it was the ambience and staff that made this 5 stars.

Made a reservation for breakfast only 15 minutes in advance but were welcomed like they were expecting us all morning. Great start to our day, particularly with the lemon ricotta pancakes. Went back later in the week for dinner and enjoyed a fantastic 5 course meal with delicious clam chowder, short rib, and chocolate pot de creme. The menu changes every day but based on our experiences it is always filling, delicious, and you get your money's worth.

Excellent location for Afternoon Tea! If you're visiting the island, please consider stopping by for one of their food services (breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner options).

They had an amazing 4-course offering with delicious teas to pair with everything. You were able to ask for cups of the different teas. Decor around the inn was fabulous and the tea sets were beautiful. Service was also phenomenal - One employee was working the entire tea room & assisting incoming inn guests too. Big kudos to her!

My dinner was so absolutely perfect that I returned the next night. That dinner was also flawless.
The food, the service, the room, the building, all incredible!
Hoping to stay at the Inn next time I travel that way.

We decided to step out of our comfort zone for our anniversary dinner. Channel Bass Inn has a reputation of fine dining and it did not disappoint! The staff were attentive, descriptive and very kind. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. The set dinner menu was delicious from beginning to end. And we even had a visit from the chef at the end of our meal. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

What a delightful stay. Owners/chefs Kristan and Bill, along with an incredibly service-oriented staff, roll out the welcome mat for their guests and could not be more gracious and accommodating. Comfortable rooms and common areas are designed for relaxing. The homemade breakfast included with our room was delicious. A fabulous, multi-course dinner, a great value, is also available and not to be missed. We enjoyed a variety of house-made appetizers, salad, generous entree, sides, dessert and wine. It was a memorable meal and getaway and we'd love to return.

Beautiful place run by a great husband/ wife team. The tables were set with full Victorian tableware and silverware. …..The service was spot on! So much so, we kindly asked them to slow things down a bit for us. We weren’t in a hurry. All the courses were delicious and done to perfection…..If your tired of the deep fried goodness at the seafood bars come here for something different and worth while!

We had a wonderful dinner at Channel Bass Inn. The waiters were fantastic, the food was delightful, so delicious. We were celebrating our anniversary and they made it very special.

I cannot say enough good things about Channel Bass Inn! I picked it initially based on reviews, which are for the previous ownership as of now, but the new ownership is amazing too! Bill and Kristan were absolutely wonderful hosts. We came with our 2 year old daughter and they made it SO nice for us as a family. When I inquired about a crib/pack n play, they didn’t have one yet, so they just ordered one for us and future guests. How awesome is that? They had a high chair and an adorable, kid friendly place setup for her for breakfast every morning (and perfect toddler sized portions). Speaking of breakfast, the owners come from a culinary background, so the breakfast was fantastic! Comfortable room and great location downtown. 10/10 would stay again. The high tea was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and fun to chat with. We enjoyed all the food. We requested a vegetarian option for one person in the party in our reservation and we didn't have to remind them, it was already ready. The gardens are also lovely.

Best Inn ever!!! My family and I love this place. This is our second summer staying at Channel Bass Inn. Everything is high quality 👌. The rooms are super clean, the breakfast is heavenly delicious and the dinner served on Sundays and Mondays is excellent. If you want to experience quality vacation at Chincoteague Island, Channel Bass Inn is the place. We love it! I could have given this place more than 5 stars. On top of it all, their customer service is the best. I can't stop saying good things about this place!!!
