Casual Joe's BBQ

Outstanding BBQ in a very unique building on the outskirts of town. Unless you live in the area, you'll need GPS to find this place. The interior of the restaurant is larger than it looks and there is plenty of seating. I love it when old buildings are re-purposed and this one was once an auto repair shop. It's a cool, funky, laidback atmosphere. It was exactly what we were looking for on our visit to Whitewater. The employee who took my order was cool and friendly too and was very knowledgeable about the food. My family and I had the brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and mac-n-cheese. Everything was delicious and we'll be back again. They have a full bar and there was live music on the day we were there.

I've eaten at the best bbq joints in Texas,Kansas city and Memphis and casual joes in Whitewater Wisconsin beats them in taste and quality and price.

Casual Joe’s is excellent! We brought a large group of high school students to their establishment. The owner worked with me personally to get a large back room set up, and was able to accommodate for allergies. The two vegetarians in our group loved the options too! Overall we had excellent food and service. I cannot say enough things about the quality of the food and the staff. My students raves about all of the options and the quality of the food.

I had been here a couple of times before and guess that I'm just not much of a BBQ guy. I've even eaten at some of the southern chains that everyone raves about and could never quite figure out all the rage. I heard that Joe's changed things and added "Smash Bowls" to the menu. Having eaten everything there is to eat in Whitewater, I decided to give them another try.

The setup is like Chipotle where you pick your meat and build from there. They still have the same BBQ stuff, but now offer the aforementioned bowls, salads and some other stuff. I had some sort of asian BBQ bowl with chicken served over a bed of mac and cheese. It was really quite good and filling for eight bucks.

Food is out of this world good! Smash bowls with amazing flavor and anything from that smoker outside is pure gold. She definitely needs some help to keep up with the business demands, but it was soooooo worth the wait!

I missed Texas barbecue. It has been over a year since I was in Texas. When I came to casual Joe's, it was like I had been transported back to a classic Texas BBQ joint. The no nonsense atmosphere was fantastic. I felt right at home as soon as I walked in. Then I tasted the food, which is out of this world. I'm sitting in front of my chopped pork platter right now and I'm pretty sure I'm crying a little bit. The flavors dance in your mouth like an overenthusiastic family reunion. Everything is amazing. The prices are great. Just shut up and come here, it's incredible.

I went here and hot damn their food is AMAZING!!! The brisket and fennel apple slaw has to be my favorite off the platter we had but it's all truly amazing. My friend and I were so full we were about to roll ourselves out of there when we ordered pie to go...and then couldn't help but get a taste before we left and we ended up eating half of our banana pies. We literally couldn't stop ourselves from eating. Saying this place has great food is a huge understatement.

Amazing BBQ ribs and strawberry BBQ sauce was outstanding. I will absolutely be headed back on my next visit to Whitewater!

My boyfriend and I tried Casual Joes for the first time the other night and we thought it was delicious!! I got the mac and meat smash bowl and he got the brisket and sausage sandwich. Both 10/10.

Delicious BBQ! This is probably some of the best barbeque I've ever had. Everything is very flavorful and seasoned just right. The focus on quality and customer satisfaction is obvious here! The entire staff was extremely friendly and would make suggestions which was helpful since there are so many tasty options. Pick up some of the " Butt Rub" too! It's a fantastic seasoning salt that I put on almost everything.

Casual Joe’s catered our wedding and it was delicious! Mike did a great job and we received so many compliments on the food. Can’t wait to use them for future events!

Looking for a quick bite to eat and a great price with it? Then look no further. Came here with my fiance, and we left full and ready to come back soon! I love the rustic look of the dining area, and the brisket and pilled pork are to die for. Everything seems to be made same day, all smoked and natural. Really gives you a unique taste than the same old frozen food from other chain restaurants! But don't take my word for it. Check it out!.

This is truly a hidden gem of Whitewater. When i say hidden, I certainly mean hidden. This restaurant is tucked away behind the train station on James St and looks like an unassuming auto body shop. Which is coincidental, because it actually used to be an auto body shop.

Now lets get into the food. The menu is small and simple. The sandwiches, while creative, aren't over complicated. All the ingredients can really speak for themselves. This restaurant uses only the highest quality meats from local farms. They are always cooked to perfection, especially the pork and brisket, and do not need to hide behind the sauces. The meats are perfect in and of themselves.

Now the sauces, they are tasty and simple. There are no weird flavors and only 5 selections to make your decision easy when selecting one.

There is a full service bar with one of the best craft beer selections in Wisconsin, and certainly the best outside of Milwaukee and Madison.

Overall, this is a tremendous restaurant and i would say is the best bbq outside of the bible belt.

Frequently visit here. Recently did some catering too. Food is good and fresh, sides are yummy, and the sauce is the best. Definitely nice seeing them getting going good again.

My wife and I stopped for lunch looking for a quick bite to eat. Boy were we pleasantly surprised by how great the food was! I had a pork sandwich topped with coleslaw and my wife had the brisket and sausage sandwich. Let me tell you it's some of the BEST bbq we've ever had! And I am from Texas where the bbq is great so I know what I'm talking about. Not to mention that this little place has such a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the music and the setup of the place. Their beer and food is local so you're getting quality food and drinks that tastes so fresh and delicious! This place is now our go to for bbq for sure! 👍

OMG in a food coma! Best barbeque ever! Had the ribs with beans and coleslaw! Everything was great! The owner and the staff were very friendly! Will definitely be back! Have to check out Mic Night on Wed and bands on Saturday too!

Chef Tyler knows what he’s doing when it comes to running restaurants. Like at his nearby fine dining establishment—The Black Sheep—all of the food here is fresh, Home-made, and locally sourced. The menu hits all of the tenets of a good BBQ joint, while adding in some of Chef Tyler’s personal creativity. The prices are a bit rich, but fair. There’s a full bar. The service is good, but more importantly, very fast. Finally, Casual Joe’s boasts a cool, fun ambience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting a student in the area.
