Great place to eat seafood without feeling you are at a high end restaurant. Great service. Really neat place on the inside with all the decorations. Clean and orderly.

We stop here every time we're in the area. Best place to eat by far. Word of advice, get here early! Ray opens the restaurant at 400 and there is a line to get in at 3.45. also, check out their fresh seafood market! It's awesome.

Service: 5⭐ fast and friendly!
Food: 5⭐ large portions, good value. No one is leaving this place hungry. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious.
Speed: 5⭐ holy cow this place was BUSY. We waited an hour but once seated we had drinks and hush puppies immediately and the food wasn't far behind. Food came out surprisingly fast. 40 minutes from seating to finish.
Ambience: 4⭐ a little loud but cute and kitchy.

Well worth the drive, time and money.

Our first time at Ray’s Shanty and the food was Great and the service was Wonderful! The seafood was very fresh and was delicious.
We were fortunate enough to meet Ray and he was a wonderful host and engaging person. Thank you Ray!!!

Catch of the day (grouper) and crab cake sandwiches were big and delicious. Crab cake was the better of the two, definitely recommended. Hush pupps great too. Had our dog with us so we did takeout and they brought the food out to us no problem. Very friendly, will try to stop again on the way back up north!

Great place! If you're in the area, don't miss out trying it. Food is delicious and the service is great. Waitress was on top of everything. There's a reason they've been around since 1986. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Was a line when we arrived, but staff was super polite and wait was only a few minutes. Place was packed, but staff was fast, efficient, and super friendly. Very family themed restaurant. Nice sea themed decor, but not overwhelming or corny. The fried flounder was literally humongous, and everything was reasonably priced. Wife had the crab cakes, also awesome. Hush puppies were amazing. Definitely would go again.

If you're staying on Chincoteague, do yourself a favor and make the 10 minute trip off the island to visit Ray's. It's the only place I'll go to buy my seafood. And, the restaurant offers the best seafood platters available locally. Make sure to check out the special board when you walk in - I almost always order off of that.

Possibly the best restaurant in the area for authentic Eastern Shore Seafood !!! Been coming here for years and have NEVER been disappointed . 😊

Absolutely fantastic. Went on a lark to celebrate a birthday and goodness it was worth it. Fresh seafood, great portions, delicious - especially for the price. We left stuffed and delighted.

That said: people say to go for the hush puppies, and they're right. But people don't mention the SIZE. I went in thinking "oh, three for a dollar? weird, I wonder what's up with that" - and then we got the puppies in advance of our entree platters.

They're the size of tennis balls. Three for a dollar indeed. Anyway, try the steamed shrimp.

A pleasant surprise! The softshell crabs are big! My sword fish order is out of the plate 🤣

Really excellent steamed shrimp, fresh fish grilled or cooked other ways black and fried, excellent oysters, crab cakes. Note they do not take reservations.

We had the best meal of our entire vacation here. Food was fabulous; all 5 people loved what they had. I had the scallops and can't wait to go back!!! Love the hushpuppies too. Couldn't fit dessert so can't say how that was but you have to go to Ray's. Worth every penny.

This comfortable place is down-home, but the food was the best we had in four days in the area. Even though we arrived at closing time, they seated us and served us quickly and cheerfully. Very large portions - crab cakes for one of us, and shrimp and scallops for the other - were very good. Don't be misled by appearances - the seafood here is better than at the fancy joints!

Great sea food, great taste. We were heading to Chincoteegue island and thought of stopping here and buy some sea food, since they had a good reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed and would not hesitate to go there again.

We arrived at the last minute and yet the staff took time with us and made sure we had a good experience. The boiled shrimp was divine.

This place is just great. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their hush puppies are legendary. Every time that I've eaten here has been great.

Food was great. Hush puppies were great. I had steamed shrinp and a garden salad. My fiance had fried oysters and flounder with coleslaw. Service was amazing.
