Such an unexpected and wonderful stay! My wife and I stayed for two nights for our 3rd anniversary. Check in was simple and hands off which suited us well (a code unlocked the front door and a piece of paper taped to it asked for confirmation + allergies for breakfast). Key to our room was in the door to our suite and a couple mini bottles of wine plus truffles and fresh berries were waiting for us to help celebrate our special occasion! (Thanks Elizabeth!) We stayed in Suite 3 at the top of the stairs and were surprised to find a fully functional kitchenette with stove, toaster oven, sink, and microwave (I don't believe all of the rooms have this), plenty of living space, and a cozy bedroom. The common area has seating, games, a Keurig + pods, and granola bars accessible to guests.

Some highlights:
• Easy parking in the back lot
• Cool music venue + cocktail bar literally in the backyard
• Next door to a wine bar/cafe and restaurant
• 10 minute walk to main part of Harper's Ferry
• Friendly and helpful hosts (our only interactions were during breakfast or via messaging through booking app)
• Very good and filling breakfast that comes included with stay!

We had no expectations and were blown away! Would definitely return/recommend to friends.

We booked the last night of a long-weekend road trip at the Light Horse. We spent the afternoon rafting the Potomac and received a message that our room was available a couple hours early. Very appreciative! We got to change and walk Harpers Ferry. Me being the history fan, there was more than enough to explore and learn for a couple day stay.
The staff at Light Horse communicated with us via email/text regularly. The suite was well-appointed and I always look for a king size bed because of my height. Breakfast was wonderful- eggs Benedict, bacon, salad, nut bread and fresh fruit; coffee, juice and water. Breakfast is included. Our stay was great- thanks to everyone who made it possible!.

Absolutely LOVELY place right on the road outside (and walking distance) historic Harpers Ferry WV!
300-year old building with partially updated rooms so as not to hide the GORGEOUS exposed brick, etc.
AWESOME Claw foot tub.
Delightful people working here.
Delicious breakfast, customized to dietary issues... Bless them for avoiding dairy for me!

The Barn behind is a fun and lively bar with live music 🎵 on many nights - we got to listen to a group of local musicians jam together on fishers, etc. Such a great vibe that really made us feel we were clearly "...not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy!"

Wonderful location to explore Harper's Ferry and the surrounding area. Breakfast was great and Megan was a great host. We were in Suite 7 which is quite large. The standalone claw foot tub with shower head can prove to be a challenge for persons with some mobility issues

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend getaway in Harpers Ferry and stayed at the Light Horse Inn! We stayed in suite 5; it was super clean and we had everything we needed. The resident Inn Keeper made us some delicious breakfasts and had really great suggestions for what to do in town. They suggest walking into town, but it’s at least a mile and super hilly so it’s not for the faint of heart! There is a sidewalk the whole way into town though. We were able to find parking in town on Saturday since we got there early enough. The Barn right out back is a great spot to grab a drink at the end of the night, just not on Sundays. My only complaint is that the walls are quite thin, we could hear everything our neighbors were saying! But it’s a historic place, so there’s probably not much to do about that. Thanks for a great stay!

Our stay at the Light Horse far exceeded our expectations. Our room was beautiful and comfortable; the electric fireplace made it feel extra cozy! Breakfast was delicious each morning. It was nice to have something different both mornings as well. The staff is knowledgeable and personable. They truly make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The Inn itself is situated within walking distance of lower town, but be sure to bring comfy walking shoes! We visited mid October and the leaves were gorgeous.
We will absolutely stay here again if we are in town!

Great location, 0.9 mile to Harper's Ferry downtown area. Good work out walk back due to hill, but easy to do. Room was wonderful. Breakfast fantastic. Coffee, tea and snacks available all hours. We love staying at BnB meeting people. Knowledgeable staff gave us ideas and things to do while in area.

I had the pleasure of staying in Suite 4 for two nights as a solo female traveler visiting Harper's Ferry for the first time in mid-January. I was immediately charmed by the historic inn from the moment I walked up the steps and opened the door to the inn. I loved the care and attention given to balancing the preserved elements of the building as well as the spaces that have required some renovation over the years. The common areas were warm and welcoming as was my first floor room, which featured a very comfortable bed, updated bathroom, super fast Wi-Fi, and an electric fireplace. The stone walls and original wood floors were just beautiful! Regarding breakfast, I was able to request mine "to go" on Saturday morning since I had to head out early, but I was so glad that I stayed to eat in on Sunday morning for breakfast, especially because Fancy (the town's most wonderful innkeeper, I'm sure!) shared some fascinating stories about the inn's history while we enjoyed the delicious meal she prepared for us. I had an excellent experience from start to finish. I will absolutely come back to this place next time I am in the area.

We had a great stay at The Light Horse Inn. This place worked out perfect for our weekend getaway in the Harpers Ferry area. Angela was great to work with with the booking and few questions we had. Onsite Fancy and Meg took great care of us!! The breakfast and snacks were fantastic. If we ever have a need to be back in the area, we will certainly be staying with them again!! Keep up the great work!! Cheers.

We stayed at Light Horse Inn for a few days after Christmas, and we enjoyed every minute! Suite 1, where we stayed, was so cozy and had so much interesting history. Breakfast was cooked by the innkeeper every morning, and everything was so tasty. The hotel is walking distance to so much, so not having to drive was an added bonus. Fancy, the innkeeper during our stay, was so warm & accommodating, and she went above & beyond to share the history of the inn with us. We would stay here again!

This was our first time to Harpers Ferry but definitely not our last. One of the reasons is The Light Horse Inn. Everything was amazing from the breakfast to the suites. Fancy, the Inn Keeper, was kind, warm, funny & extremely knowledgeable. We will definitely be repeat customers!

To say we had a perfect experience is understanding it drastically! Thank you Jen you made my wife and I so comfortable and we felt like honored guests. The breakfast each morning was amazing and the care to attention with each day is what made our experience better and better. Jennifer had a smile every morning to match the amazing B&B of Light Horse and I highly recommend staying there. Again thank you to Jen and the ladies behind the scenes! Suite 4 was everything we expected and more.

Beautiful inn, ideal location, friendly & helpful staff!

I booked the Light Horse Inn for 3 days while doing day hikes & historic tours in the area. What a great stay! Works well if you're car free, too (see below).

I usually don't pick inns or b&bs for two reasons: often, they don't offer as much privacy as I'm comfortable with, and trigger my dust allergies. The Light Horse Inn was perfect in both regards.

My room: it was big, light, airy, and attractive. The bathroom was huge and had a jetbath, which was awesome after a day hiking. I was alone, but the room was absolutely big enough for a couple to stay comfortably, with two closets, two sinks, and plenty of floor room. It felt downright luxurious to be there alone. The decor and furniture were nicely done and sensitive to the history of the house-- this was true of the whole property. Because of my dust allergies, I was happy to see that they didn't have a ton of tchotchkes, which has been my downfall in other inns. The room was clean and in good repair (allowing for the fact that any 200+ year old house will never be in perfect shape!) as was every room and space I saw.

They had a self check-in system, which was nice-- frankly, after a long day traveling, I wasn't up for small talk. While the inn isn't soundproof, noise from other guests wasn't loud or disturbing. My room was on the street side of the house and I barely heard traffic.
For breakfast, guests in each room have their own tables. While everyone was friendly and pleasant, we all respected each others space as well. The rooms lock, and the entry doors require a passcode, so I never worried about leaving my valuables (not that I had much that's valuable) all day.

Breakfast was delicious, high in protein, and BIG, which was wonderful because I was walking all day. The inn provided early morning coffee, and snacks throughout the day, including granola bars I threw in my backpack.
As I was there a little before the official tourist season, not all of the local restaurants were in full swing with their summer schedules. It didn't matter-- I never had a problem finding a delicious meal when I needed one. The Rabbit Hole in Harpers Ferry proper and Snallygasters next door to the inn were my two favorites. They both have great beer choices :)

Unlike most visitors to Harpers Ferry, I did not bring a car. One reason I chose the Light Horse was because of the location. From the Light Horse, I walked to the National Park Service park on Shoreline Drive in less than 25 minutes, and to "downtown" Harpers Ferry in about 20 minutes. A bus connects the two. There are plenty of restaurants, the Appalachian Trail Visitors Center, Storer College and other historic sites, and a 7-11 in walking distance of the inn. Amtrak and MARC both serve the Harpers Ferry train station. An inn staffer kindly offered me a lift to the train when I left and I was happy to take him up on it, but it's walkable in both directions as long as you can carry your luggage and don't mind hills and steps.
(Lots of AT through hikers stop in Harpers Ferry so the town and local businesses are ready to accommodate pedestrians. That said, I would describe the area as accessible without a car if you are in moderately good shape, but not easily so if you have mobility challenges)

The staff was absolutely wonderful. Nice, and able to anticipate what we may need. They kept everyone happy and made it look easy.

If I come back, I will book here again!

FYI: TMobile coverage was spotty in the area. The best signal I got was in the historic township. The inn and the restaurants I mentioned all offer wifi, so that helped fill the gap.

We stayed in Suite #4 (March 19-22, 2021) which has the benefit of a private door from the outside and the only ground floor guest room. It was spacious, well appointed with cozy recliners for reading or a game of cards, the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in (no kidding, we pulled back the sheets to find out the mattress brand), and a large bathroom with a shower with plenty of room for 2. It’s about a mile from the lower part of town which is hilly so wear comfortable shoes, but which also makes it very quiet for leisurely mornings. Also, if you don’t feel like a walk, there’s a little general store right next door that sells beer and wine and has a small deli counter with good sandwiches. Next door to that is a restaurant that does takeout but we didn’t get a chance to try it. Also, out back is “The Barns” which seemed to be a tavern and had a lively Sat. crowd - which I can assure you was completely silenced by the thick stone walls of the Inn. The complimentary breakfast at the Inn was delicious and filling and the coffee was pretty okay. We absolutely loved our stay and recommend it highly.

I highly recommend this place! We were in suite 4. The room was massive with lots of natural light. It was next door to a cute general store and a vegan restaurant. There’s a bar with live music in the back and it’s a short walk to a few restaurants. I wouldn’t recommend walking to downtown Harper’s Ferry from here bc of the massive hill you need to walk back up. The breakfast they served was also incredible.

It seems like the Light Horse Inn is kind of recently renovated. The room was climate controlled and the windows did a pretty servicable job of blocking noise from the street close by. The innkeeper was very responsive and interested in whether we had any issues.

The breakfast was the star of the show. Pancakes with a cinnamon apple compote will have us coming back for sure! The location right next to Snallygaster's and Kelley Farm Kitchen also contribute to this place being a hit. We didn't try The Barn but we will have to next time.

The walk into lower town is perfectly manageable, even on a hot and humid day like we had.

We will return!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. The innkeeper is super friendly and accommodating. The bed in room 2 is a little firm for my tastes but that's personal preference; my hubby liked it. Great breakfast and if you have to leave early, she packs you a to-go bag. The air conditioning rocks! 😃

Quite, comfy and clean -- I so enjoyed my stay here. While the house is historical, the rooms feel updated. The breakfast is lovely and this is a central location in town, easy to walk to the trails or to restaurants. Inn manager Megan recommended the vegan place next door called Kelley Farm Kitchen and it was so yummy! Highly recommend.

The Light Horse Inn was a wonderful place to stay at. It is within walking distance of many attractions, as well as the Barn (local bar). The innkeepers were super polite and helpful with everything. During morning breakfast, they would tell us details about the Inn, as well as the surrounding area and events. Speaking of which, the breakfast was immaculate. After a long day of hiking and exploring Harpers Ferry, it was such cozy feeling to enter the inn and smell fresh baked cookies and coffee! The inn was definitely the centerpiece and a highlight of our weekend getaway!
