01/14/2023 Visited the library to donate to its book sale, to do some library research and to see the Chinese Lunar New Year Lions.

It is one of the best user friendly library ever I have seen in USA; the staffs are very cordial and friendly. They keep books for almost all reader groups. They have also silent reading place and kids corner! I highly recommend this library!

Looking to shake up our library experience, my 3 youngest kids (ages 4, 3 and 1) and I decided to check out John Marshall Library. There were lots of open parking spots in the front of the building, but I decided to pull around to the side so that we could be along the sidewalk closest to the building. There were no signs outside mandating masks, but I noticed all of the staff happened to be wearing theirs. The other patrons of the library were mixed in their mask-wearing choice. The hand sanitizer station was filled for anyone wanting some.

The building was bright, clean and quiet when we first entered. Despite being a somewhat overwhelming bunch, we were greeted with a warm smile from the librarians at the desk. A red stop sign on the desk window read, "PLEASE INTERRUPT ME! I'm here to help."

The kids section was smartly tucked away to the right, separated from the adult section by the circulation desk. There were plenty of comfortable chairs with swivel tables and cupholders attached that were perfect for my curious toddlers to crawl into and read. Past the reference books, children's DVDs, audio books and chapter books, we found the board books and picture books against the far wall. In the middle of the floor were 2 chairs, a sofa, and 2 stationary children's toys, perfect for toddlers or even babies just learning to pull-up. There was a small table with kids chairs that looked like owls. A computer with headphones and a mouse was in the corner and two tablets were set up just outside the children's nook, all at kid-height. My 4 year old had some trouble manipulating the mouse, but with instruction and practice, she was successfully making her way through the programs. My 3 year old quickly navigated her way through the programs on the touch-screen tablet. The other tablet holder had a sign reading OUT OF ORDER.

We found plenty of books to bring home both for the kids and for me. This isn't the largest library in Fairfax County, but everything seemed thoughtfully and appropriately spread out and I was pleased with the selection. It's sometimes hard to feel calm and welcome in a quiet space like a library when you're bringing a bunch of sniffly kids around naptime, but this was about as close as it comes! We will definitely be coming back.

Easy to check out and return books. Staff were helpful answering questions. Good experience. Each time we go back they always seem to have new books. Good place to bring young kids as they have some toys and computers in addition to boks.

Newly renovated and opened as of October 27th. Very up to date technology and a good selection of books. There are charging stations at every table and a quiet study area for single people as well as conference rooms and group study rooms.

Great renovated location. Only recently reopened due to Covid so not much going on in activities. Have enjoyed my visits there and was in a weekly class until the shut down.

They did an incredible job remodeling this place. Especially well done are the areas for young teens. I wish they had a library this cool when I was in junior high!

Nice quiet library. Good kids section, amply distanced from other areas for those of us with not so quiet kids.
