Went on a whim as a weekend trail hike destination and ended up renting a boat and spending the day on the lake. Prices are super reasonable and they offer tackle and bait, sunscreen and extras and lunch options as well as boat rentals. Boat rentals include canoes, kayaks and John boats with the option to also rent a trolling motor so you don't have to paddle. The prices are super reasonable. We spent about $80 for the John boat rentals with the trolling motor, sunscreen (we expected to trail hike so didn't bring it) and lunch for myself, my fiance and our three year old. Life jackets are provided with the boats and you can stay out on the lake until 5pm when boats need to be returned. We spontaneously decided to rent a boat instead of hiking and went out around 3pm with the trolling motor and it still felt like we spent a ton of time on the lake. The dock wrapped around the visitors center has holes drilled in the railing for fishing poles and fishing is encouraged (I will definitely be bringing my daughter here for fishing as well as doing the trails we never got to) and they sell tackle and bait at the shop. It's a nice big lake and in the two hours we were out we still didn't get to explore all of it. We are super excited to revisit and plan to bring family and friends next time. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the outdoors, fishing and boating and it's absolutely stunning with all the fall foliage! Such a gorgeous hidden gem with super reasonable prices. Parking is great and the visitor center has full restrooms while the hiking trail entrance has porta potties (one of which is disability friendly) in the parking lot. Would recommend 10/10.

Beautiful park with challenging hiking trails, fishing spots and a spot where you can rent kayaks. We love this place and frequent it often in every season.

Excellent Kayak launch destination with miles of nature to explore and beautiful views. There are also Mountain Biking trails and Hiking trails that appear to be frequented, but I have not ventured those trails yet.

It's such a beautiful place! I spent my time there near the water, but there are paths to walk, bike paths for all levels of off-road cyclists, a boat ramp, rowing teams, and what seemed to be a group of novice rowers. I'll put up a few photos, but please excuse my amateur skills.

I went kayaking with my sons a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. We saw a few Bald Eagles and that was an added bonus. The staff was very kind and helpful. Looking forward to next season for more opportunities to get out on the water.

There was a lot going on when I was there. They had a hiking event going on, and a mountain bike race going on. It was a beautiful day and a friend, and I hiked two miles enjoying the scenery.

Nice wooded area where you can go hiking, mountain biking, archery, and launch various types of watercraft on the river. The Bull Run Occoquan trail is popular with trail runners and hikers but remember to bring lots of water. The trail is heavily wooded so you mainly see trees with a couple side trails that allow you to walk down to the Occoquan reservoir. There is a large parking area with a sheltered picnic area next to the woods and a few single picnic tables scattered around. There is restroom but not adjacent to the parking area which seems really strange as it is a few minute walk away. Great mountain biking trails to the south east from the parking lot (across the street) which includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails. They close the mountain biking trails after any recent rains but I don't know for how long.

Made it back after it dried out and the green, blue, and black trail loops are fantastic for mountain 🏔 biking 🚴‍♀. Tough flowy trails with cool technical features on the blue and black loops.

A wonderful park created for nature adventures - boating, fishing, hiking and biking. Rowing all the way to Occoquan is rewarded with beautiful scenery along Occoquan River. The hiking trail to Bull Run is enriched with historic significance.

Great trails and plenty of parking. One side dedicated to mountain bikers and the other side for walkers. Beautiful views and we'll maintained.

Beautiful park with nice public toilet, no entry fee. Nice place to rent boat or use your own. Enough parking space next to lake. Also make sure to be prepared for fishing or trailing

Love this place! Came for a 5 mile hike yesterday with my dog and came across maybe 10 other people. The trails were muddy, but not treacherous. People were very courteous. Parking wasn't available at the trailhead, but it was easy to park on the road and access the trail. Got a bit off route but ended up at the water's edge which was beautiful. I will repeat this hike when it dries out a bit. Trail was very clean and had a few interesting "artifacts" along the way!

Great place to ride or hike. Trails will close when there is rain, but are really well maintained. Gates are locked at sunset, some don't get stuck in the parking lot 😯

Boat rentals are cheap and the park was well maintained and clean. The reservoir was very nice and my family and I enjoyed rowing the jon boat. Made me consider buying a kayak or canoe for next time.

Easy to get to, not super busy, at least today. Great views and plenty of outdoors to adventure in. I have ridden their mountain bike trails and took my kayak on their water. Both were awesome!! The bike trails have some really awesome features and hidden gems!!

I really like this park. There's a decent trail that goes about 8 miles RT. Then there's a nice section to fish and see the lake. There's also a little beach, a boat launch, and kayaks. Definitely wouldn't expect this place so close to the DC metro area!

For a visit to the outdoors, this is a great place to enjoy a hike, boating, or fishing. For fishermen (amateur to pro) there's an awesome pier, with benches and plenty of room to spread out. You can while away a few good hours without realizing it. The bathrooms are clean (I experienced them midday on a weekday, YMMV). I didn't order anything at the snack shop, but they had an exceptional menu. Boats are available by the snack shop, along with a game of minigolf. Very nice area for the great outdoors.

I can't say enough positive things about this place. We've been to a lot of parks in the area and this is our absolute favorite. The trails are fabulously kept and range in difficulty that keeps everyone from adults to almost 5yr olds challenged.

The lake is beautiful. There's maintain bike trails I haven't tried yet but plann to. Even the people are kind and friendly. This is going to be our outdoor home for quite awhile. At least I hope it will be!
