Hootch and Banter

This place is one of the finest Frederick has to offer, especially in the downtown area. The menu is fairly simple but everything they do, they do right. From the twice smoked wings to the homemade ketchup and everything in between. They absolutely get busy and usually stay busy, so plan ahead. Their drink menu is extensive and creative. They have a lounge upstairs but we haven't been to it yet. Food comes out insanely quick, never had an issue with accuracy. Price is fair for what you're getting. My only complaint as a non-local is their hours are somewhat limited. They operate primarily as a dinner place with brunch on weekends, which is totally their choice! Whatever works for them, we will continue to support. Check them out!

Saturday Brunch with NO wait!
We engaged in friendly conversation with the neighboring table. The service staff was exceptionally welcoming. The orange and pomegranate crushes were wonderfully potent. We proudly joined the clean plate club. Make sure to leave room for dessert, particularly the table-side beignets—they're a must!

Absolutely fantastic little restaurant right next to the canal! The staff was superb, and very well versed in the menu and offerings. The food was absolutely fantastic! We had a group of five, everyone ordering different items. We were all very impressed with all of our food, drinks, apps, and entire experience!

I stopped by this gem for brunch on a beautiful Saturday. I was greeted immediately and sat in front of the bar. The service was quick and the food was delicious. I’m a HUGE fan of shrimp and grits and this one was pretty good. It is served with a sunny-side up egg. It was my first time there and I’ll tell ya that I’ll be back to try the many different brunch and drink items! The margarita was made to perfection with Patron. There are so many different kinds of liquor to choose from. You’ll always be able to find your perfect drink.

One of my favorites. The pork chop and steak were both good for dinner. The bartenders also created some of the best craft cocktails. Lastly, don’t skip out on the beignets! So good and the come out warm to the table! Great spot for a date night!

We were visiting some friends in the area and wanted to do Brunch. We arrived about 5 minutes after they had opened and were lucky enough to get a table. This place does not take reservations and is supposedly always slammed.

They have a London pub style set up with a solid menu with all the classics. We got burgers and French toast. Both very good and filling.

Great service really topped off the experience. Would go back.

We didn't eat here but the upstairs lounge is really cool! It's vibey and relaxing. Great for a drink or 2 before you head out to dinner or a night on the town. Great spot for a girls meet up! I look forward to trying the food. The drinks were really good!

The food was delicious, the service was super friendly, and the atmosphere felt just right.

It’s super refreshing to get wonderful, top notch service. I watched a server try to kill a bee for a table sitting outside and do it with a smile. From our personable server running down the menu before hand. The young man who dropped our food was exceedingly pleasant and informed us the ketchup and honey butter were made in house (which - yes it makes a difference if you’re wondering). Even the host and person making sure our coffee was warm were attentive. The service alone would have rated this visit 5 stars. The food also - incredible but long reviews are the worst.

This is my first time to dine in this restaurant due to a family member's birthday. It's a Sunday brunch time, the restaurant was packed yet well managed no matter one chose to dine in the bar or inside or outside. Food is tasty and colorful which is exceed my expectation. The service is excellent; in addition, everyone is happy and willing to help and genuinely friendly. We brought a birthday cake, the lead lady (maybe the owner) in the restaurant cut it nicely for us. This birthday meal is indeed memorable. Highly recommend!

First time here and it won't be my last, especially since there's a parking garage nearby.

The food is excellent and large portions. We very much enjoyed the empanadas and the chicken and waffles (the butter for them were to die for).

Our server, Manda, was one of the best that I've had, always making sure dishes were cleared and drinks were filled.

Had the Kidd Burger, very tasty, loved the thick and crispy bacon because. The melted cheddar cheese held the crispy onions with the juicy patty.
The brioche bread was nicely toasted.
First time trying GFO ketchup, much less saltier.

The food was above average for the Frederick area. Very cool decor and atmosphere. Super lounge area upstairs. Most impressive was the staff. Every member of staff, from being greeted at the door, to the servers and bartenders, everyone had amazing attitudes. It was evident that they enjoy working at H&B, which may prove to be H&B's secret to success in the ever-cycling turnover of restaurants, and may keep its clientele coming back. Note to H&B: Keep your people, and keep them happy...it's working wonders for you! Special thanks to Amanda, a stellar server and lovely person to have met.

Great place for brunch and/or just hanging out and having cocktails. Their menu is creative and clever. That goes for both food and drink.

Highly, highly recommend. The food was amazing. The Gouda tots, crab dip and the empanadas are musts from the appetizer menu. The service was friendly. Looking forward to eating here again.

Ate here for a Sunday brunch. Unfortunately had to be wait-listed for about 1.5 hrs. (Tip... go ahead and add at least 30 minutes to their estimated wait time.) Once finally seated, the service and food were excellent. We got the shrimp and grits, stuffed French toast, and a pitcher of mimosas. The shrimp were huge and the honey drizzled on the French toast was amazing. And when I say mimosa, I mean a splash of OJ. No complaints here!! Only other complaint besides the wait was the seating being very close together. I highly recommend getting in line at least 30 minutes before opening or else you'll be waiting. No reservations at this joint.

This place is great, bartender and hostess were great and welcoming. I am new in town and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Great brunch menu, there was a small wait on food but it was worth it and the bartender was very attentive despite all the incoming orders, such an amazing experience!

Will definitely be back! The food was great, we ordered the Old Bae Crab Benedict and Skrimp & Gritty. Loved the fun menu names and drinks. Great Irish Coffee and Spanish Coffee. Our server, Manda, was amazing; prompt service, checked on us the perfect amount of times, and was very kind.
