Frederick Municipal Forest

Beautiful day...Temps started near 46 at 630am and climbed to about 60...perfect weather.
3 hours of hiking I only saw 1 guy on a bike...that's it. Felt like I had the whole place to myself.

Still awesome location.. temps in the 70s enjoying 8.5 miles hiking...only saw 1 group of 3 people...not complaining 😂

Loved the Catoctin Mountain trail. We had an encounter with a mama bear and her 2 cubs about 80 yards away on the trail. Beautiful landscape, beautiful creek running along the trails. Lots of mountain bikes, although we were hiking. Everyone is very respectful of the others. I would love to return and explore more of the trails.

Great place to hike, run, and mountain bike. The trail network is extensive. There are several places to park. The entire area is very clean and well preserved. You can catch the Catoctin Trail at a few different locations. No fees to enter!

Absolutely love this trail. The scenery is amazing, and there is miles of off-road trails. Frederick Municipal Forest is strategically placed very close to Frederick, which is great if you just want to get out of the city and experience beautiful mother nature!

Commonly known as the 'Shed, this is where you go when you want to test your MTB climbing, cornering, balance and endurance on a vast network of technical trails. Wear shin and knee protection. The rocks are like blades sticking up in some areas. A must do for all mountain bikers looking to be challenged.

This place has beautiful hiking trails and scenery. Somewhere along the road, there is a fresh spring that we go to get water at with very refreshing water. There's two areas that you can get the water from. So peaceful.

Beautiful public forest with trails of varying difficulty. Most parking is small pulloffs on the side of the road. Trails are not all well-marked and there aren't paper maps available, so downloading a trail map app would be a good idea if you want to take full advantage of the trails.

I love this forest! I lived in Gaithersburg, but four years ago I lived to Frederick. Many people we know go and pick up drinking water near there. About a month ago my mom and I saw that many people were hiking and one day we decided to go and check it out. It was amazinggg!!! Since that day we go almost every weekend.

I went hiking there with a group and we had a wonderful time. There are many beautiful stream crossings and views. Lots of challenging sections (hills) and the park is well maintained ...

Great trails to bike and hike. Visit regularly, highly recommend.

Frederick Municipal Forest ( Frederick Watershed) has some of the best mountain biking in MD! The area has a multitude of trail that can keep a biker ocupide all day. The trails are mostly technical but a few are supper flowy and fast. The park has multiple freeride trails ranging from intermediate to basically a pro-line. I have biked from Germantown to deep Creek and this place is something else. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Must visit mountain bike trails for experienced riders. Multiple loop and downhill trails. Recommend riding with other riders especially for first time visit. Biking Bad with TC.

This park has a lot to offer. The trails here are exptional and quite good. Also the road for shuttling is amazing.
