Having grown up in MoCo this park was part of my childhood. Such a serene and beautiful day there.

Weekend camping trip with family. Our first time here. Campground is spacious and well kept. Area is beautiful. You can walk from camp sites to trails that lead to other trails. We are definitely coming back here again.

We stayed at Bear Branch and it was lovely. The portable water was clean and cool, showers were nice and check in was seamless. Our independence day weekend was perfect thanks to the people who keep Cunningham Falls State Park the way it is.

Beautiful park, lake and waterfall right off the main road. We were traveling and happened to see the signs. We took the 1/2 mile hike to the falls and explored the grounds a bit. It was about an hour pit stop and if we had our swimming suits it would have been longer to take a dip in the nice big lake. Perfect picnic spot

A great park for a short getaway - whether you're taking the family for a picnic by the beautiful lake, hiking up the mountain to enjoy the surprisingly boisterous Cunningham Falls, or spending a weekend camping. Great for kids of all ages. Took my family during the 100 deg heatwave in July and the temperature was at least 15 degrees cooler, and felt even better in the cool falls water. Can't be the entry fee either.

Beautiful park, but the Cliff Trail to the upper falls wasn't as well marked as we would have liked. We got a little turned around, but found our way back to the path. Absolutely gorgeous view of the falls and stream.

We visit the mini cabins in this park every year. October is a fun time because it's not hot and buggy. The cabins have a double bed and a set of bunk beds, electricity, a front porch, fire ring and picnic table. It's a short walk to the restrooms where there are modern facilities and hot showers. The staff is always welcoming. The cost is reasonable so a family can come here without too much expense. The Falls is nearby as are hiking trails and a lake area.

I love this place. You will never be disappointed. It's beautiful here. The birds are a special place to visit. I love owls and this beautiful eagle was so majestic. I truly didn't want to leave. Turtles can be seen as well. Plenty of parking. Safe and clean. I must say I will make sure to come back to the bird house during business hours. Still its a absolutely perfect place to go.

It was delightful. The weather was sunny and cool. The Demo’s were clearly presented that people of all ages could appreciate and understand and even taste. The Maryland maple dnd sugar cane trees gave us their best to take home with us. With a walk on the beach and the sound of music drawing us we entered a tent filled with families. Dancing, Merry making artistic crafts with children decorated in colors and smiles. What could have been more enchanting.

Pleasant state park campground in the Catoctin Mountains. Lots of woods to hike around in. The bath houses could use a little more cleaning.

We visited for the annual maple syrup festival on a snowy, foggy, Sunday. There was adequate signage to direct us to the area. It was absolutely beautiful when we arrived! The park staff was knowledgeable and friendly. There were plenty of vendors to visit, music to enjoy, and of course the pancakes and sausage were delicious. I cannot wait to come back during the spring or summer season to visit and or camp out.

Great park for camping. Great lake for swimming, playing in the water, kayaking\canoeing, and great trails for hiking including very easy trail to see the falls. Plenty to do and see in the park and the surrounding area (nearby National Park, and other State Park areas that tell a great story of charcoal making, iron mining and forging, maple syrup making, slave labor and grave yard, most connected by hiking trails). Plus, the charming town of Thurmont is nearby with antique shops, dining and an apple orchard. Only regret is that getting a site with electric hookup can be difficult if spanning a weekend.

On a Monday, the beach at Hunting Creek Lake isn't too crowded. Bathrooms are a short walk away, the place is very family friendly! This is a local treasure for Thurmont and Northern Frederick County residents. 3 dollars per person to enter the park, or $75 for a season pass, but this gets you the beach and hiking trails to Cunningham Falls, too!

A beautiful area with a fenced off place to swim in the reservoir. Lots of picnic tables and not too crowded on a Friday afternoon. Great trees for hammocking. Nice trail to a waterfall close by.

My family and I have been coming for years. There are two trails to the waterfall. The cliff trail is the harder of the two. My children tend to take that trail while us 'old folk' stick to the easy trail. Both end at the same spot so there are no real worries about not meeting up at the end. The waterfall is best viewed in march through may. From june on the waterflow gets smaller and smaller. Climbing the falls is fairly easy, even for the younger ones, but be aware of slippery rock surfaces both dry and wet. As you reach the top of the falls you can follow the stream back several hundred yards and there are a few good swimming holes for the kids to jump in. After climbing back down we head to the lake area and the kids swim while I grill and relax. Within the swimming area the water never gets to deep and the lifeguards are very attentive.

For 5 dollars per maryland resident this is a great way to enjoy some family time without breaking the bank.
