I contacted Guyton Electric after a large kitchen chandelier they improperly installed in my home came crashing down from the ceiling, nearly taking my head off as I cooked lunch. They were the original installers of the fixtures in my Lancaster home, and had used cheap plastic electrical boxes to hang the chandeliers, which obviously did not hold the weight of the heavy fixtures as one chandelier fell and the other was hanging by its wires. Upon further inspection, it was obvious Guyton’s tech had overtightened the screws, snapping one of the two plastic tabs off the mounting boxes on both fixtures. I’d initially reached out to the builder, Lancaster Homes, but was told “they had no control over their contractors” and “this is only the second time in all the years they’ve worked with Guyton that a chandelier had fallen out of the ceiling”. Seriously!? This has happened before? Long story short, Guyton brushed me off and said the home was past its one year warranty period. They could schedule an electrician to redo the job properly, but would have to charge me. So I called a more reputable Electrician to come out and remount the fixtures using the proper metal boxes that met the weight-rating. It cost me $140, but apparently it wasn’t worth Guyton’s time to do it right the first time, or even show professionalism for what I would consider an Electrical 101 sort of issue.
