Dr. Shawn & all his staff are so wonderful and caring! We have trusted Dr. Shawn's advice & treatments with our 2 dogs, our daughters 2 dogs. I like his more holistic approach rather than just pumping animals with medications and sending people on their way. If you are on the fence about going to Paws & Claws - Just GO!!! You won't be sorry!

Our dog, Buck, was rescued in 2020 and unfortunately had a very negative visit to the vet early in life. We have spent years trying to find a clinic that he would even walk into without extreme anxiety. Paws & Claws is that clinic! We are SO grateful to have found them. Buck is much happier and healthier for being a patient here. Moreover, he is calm and comfortable in the clinic because they are all patient, sincerely kind and enthusiastic about their job. That was not our experience elsewhere.

I cannot recommend Dr. Messonnier and his team highly enough. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

I will always remember Dr Shawn when he was on Sirius radio (2012-2014 ) talk show . There was so much great information and I even got to speak with him once about my precious retired greyhound Chinadoll re her 3 auto immune diseases . I also have his book of course I would have loved to take my galgo and iggie to him but living in Ontario Canada I can’t really manage that He sure deserves my 5 stars ❤

We are extremely happy to find a Proactive Integrative Veterinarian clinic for our girls! The staff is the Best in all aspects and put their hearts into what they do. This was my first time taking my puppy (Bruno) and I was so excited to take him… I am so grateful to have found them! I had been looking for a holistic vet and it was a great experience from when I talked to Veronica over the phone to help me setup the appointment and paperwork to seeing the products they carry.. clean, good products that won’t harm your pet.. From Dr. Shawn to each of the ladies I spoke too, they answered all my questions and made me feel so comfortable, very welcoming and the way they treat your pet is so refreshing to see. I love Paws & Claws Animal Hospital. They offer a more holistic view and alternative treatments which I so appreciate when trying to limit my dog’s toxic exposure. Dr. Messonnier is great and each member of his staff truly cares about your pet and was so sweet. 10/10 recommend.

I had a positive experience with Paws and Claws from the time I reached out to them via email about setting up an appointment until my fur baby was seen on the day of his appointment. The office staff was super sweet and attentive to all of my questions. I did feel a little rushed once we were seen by the vet, but that could have been because we were the last appointment of the day. I really appreciate that the vet honored my requests as far as my puppy’s vaccinations, as I am trying to avoid over-vaccinating him, so that really gave me a piece of mind. Overall, I would definitely recommend Paws and Claws to other pet parents.

Our dog got a cancer diagnosis. We were told by an oncologist that this was inoperable and that she only had a few months.
We went to Paws & Claws about 5 months ago (2 days after the oncologist) . Our dog is still with us and healthier than ever, with a very positive long term outlook.

I'm so happy I found this practice! We follow holistic paths for our own health and wanted to do the same for our fur baby. He had an ear issue and Dr. Messonnier provided herbal medication instead of pharmaceuticals. HIs ears are so much better! He was thorough and very nice. His staff is also wonderful. They were all so caring and helpful. If you care about your pets go see Paws & Claws!!

The people that work in this clinic genuinely care about the health of my pet. The moment we walk in the door they are greeting me and my fur-child warmly coaxing her out of any fear. Dr Shawn is very wise, attentive and smart. It's obvious he wants to be there to help keep my dog at her healthiest. All the Paws & Claws personalities work very well together. So far our problems have been small ones but I am so grateful for a holistic choice in my pet care and will continue coming back.

This was my first time here with Hank! We recently switched vets and absolutely love it here! The care is great. The communication is great. The ladies at his appointment were amazing and so sweet with Hank. He was so worn out from playing with them (see picture) 😊 can’t wait to come back!

We just moved to the area and we couldn’t be happier to have found Paws & Claws for our Vizsla! The staff is amazing - so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The office is clean, tidy and Dr Shawn exceeded our expectations - he fully explained any tests / treatments he suggested while at the same time fully respected our wishes as to the choices we made in our pups care. Dr Shawn saved our beautiful Labrador Retriever "Cash". Named for Johnny Cash, the Man In Black. In his exam room, Dr Shawn has a picture that's the spitting image of our beautiful Cash. At 10 years old, Cash developed a tumor in his nasal cavity. He was given less than 2 weeks to live. Thru Dr Shawn's truly holistic methods and medicines Cash lived another 13 months before having to be put down.

Saved My little CHF Chi... Lou LaBelle! Her Heart Meds were helping her heart & at the same time destroying her Liver & Kidneys. It's a Combination of Both that has given her Quality of Life back & Me, My Sanity & Peace!!!!

We drive 25 miles to see this vet! Searched high and low for a vet that would not over vaccinate or over treat our pup (SmokeSTACK). Dr. Shawn Messonier is a true professional with incredible knowledge about pets and natural resources for their health. He is the only vet I found in the DFW area that offers a 3 and 1 vaccine (instead of the 5 and 1 vaccine) and doses the vaccines based off of weight. He also does titer testing n house. He takes his time to listen to our concerns and talk about your pet. He helped tailored a treatment plan to achieve Stack's optimal health offering supplements and a recipe guide to help prepare his meals. If you are looking for a vet that truly wants your dog to live a long, healthy life... this is the place!! So thankful to have found them.
