Palisades Cafe

I loved the small-town cafe feel. Palisades was clean and tidy. The staff was great. One waiter was covering a full house for Saturday lunch, and he did it quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner. My salad was fresh, crisp and tasty and my husband's burger was sumptuous. The fries weren't the crispest but were hot and had really good flavor! We ate every one!
Dessert was pomegranate bread pudding that had just the right amount of spice and melted in our mouths.

1st time there, unfortunately we weren't very hungry, so we shared. Ordered a reuben sandwich & onion rings. Both were amazing. Pretty sure they make their own sauces for the sandwich & onion rings. Got a piece of cake to bring home for dessert, but haven't had it yet. Looking forward to going back, but next time we'll bring back up. Oh, our server was also spot on!

A wonderful unique place to have lunch Of course, it’s locally owned! Other fun businesses on main street. Great service, helpful staff, and tasty food! Don’t miss the wonderful candy store across the street!!

Amazing experience! We had a large group and the service was amazing. Sever was polite and professional. The food was outstanding and the prices were great. I would recommend this place to anyone

A great Mom and Pop Cafe nestled in the heart of downtown Mt. Vernon. Jim got the Hand rolled tenderloin and I ordered the build a burger with bacon and cheese. The tomato was fresh and cut to a good size. The burger hit my nose when I took my first bite. Both of us had a side order of fries. We did the curbside pick up. Portions are good size. Fries appeared to be hand cut. Cozy setting inside. I would recommend checking this place out. If you take out, make sure you ask for napkins though. You will need them if you ordered sandwiches.

You can't go wrong here because there's something for everyone, from kids to mature gourmands. And it doesn't just offer typical cafe fare. Whether you are out for a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, you can find something that hits the spot like a traditional burger or specials like osso bucco with risotto. Vegetarian options, too. Plenty of wine and craft cocktails to choose from. Very easy atmosphere.

Small restaurant with great food and service. I ordered the hamburger of the month with smoked gouda and onion bacon jam. It was delicious.

Best veggie burger in Iowa. Seriously. It's house made and cooked to be just slightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I had it in the "burger of the month" style, topped with fig and pear chutney and goat cheese, and I just about died of happiness. We also got a special, spinach and artichoke chutney, which was topped with walnut gorgonzola cream. Amazing. I'm seriously considering coming back tomorrow to have the same burger again for lunch!

A bunch of us ordered breakfast from Palisades Cafe this morning. We all tried each others orders, and they were all AMAZING!! I had the Eggs Benedict ( the hollandaise sauce was out of this world) it came with breakfast potatoes, the others had a Palisades Skillet, the Belgian Waffle (with strawberries, and their house-made whipped cream, and strawberry syrup), Classic Combo, and biscuits and gravy.

I’m not usually a fan of breakfast potatoes but you have got to try these. I don’t know what they do to them but they were soooooo good.

The Belgian Waffle was delicious, and that whipped cream was sooooooo delicious. I want to have another one right now.

Let me just finish saying this is a much needed breakfast place we need in Mount Vernon, and you definitely won’t be disappointed. So GREAT!!!

They have the best Burgers and House-Cut Fries in town, along with all the specials, and pretty much everything else on the menu, but now I can add breakfast also.

Pork tenderloin sandwich with pear slaw was amazing. I love the tanginess of the pear slaw. Great twist on a classic. Onion rings were also good.

Grabbed dinner here before hitting an incredible show at Mount Vernon Community Theatre! The aoli was over the top good!!

Get the ribs and eggs for brunch... sorry I almost couldn't stop to take a pic! Tangy bbq sauce moderate smoke and the most tender and moist! The tasty homefrie were gobbled up before the ketchup bottle was even thought of... I will be back!

Fantastic gourmet cuisine with attentive staff. It was the best meal I've had in ages! I'd go again in a heartbeat!

Beyond a doubt the best BLT I've ever had - nothing fancy, nothing strange - just a perfect blend of perfect ingredients. The lemonade was spot-on as well. Just the right thing on a hot summer afternoon.

Ordered the ribeye special. Best steak I ever had!

Wonderful place to enjoy delicious food. The sandwiches and salads are outstanding and the service is top notch. Everyone is so friendly and eager to please.

Great food in a quaint little dining room. My daughter loved looking at the decor while we waited for or food. We got the onion rings appetizer and they were a unicorn. They are the thin shoestring style that everyone makes greasy and soggy, but somehow they managed to make them crispy and yummy so much so that my kids who never eat onion rings both devoured them!

Phenomenal food and service. Had the palisades burger and fries which were both excellent. Their house made ranch dressing was the best I’ve ever had. We ended the meal with a slice of coconut cream cake at the end of the meal which was superb as well. Can’t recommend this place enough. Amazing flavors with nice portion size at an affordable price.

One of our favorite local dinner spots. The constantly changing menu is something my wife appreciates, but their burgers are so good I find it hard to go with anything else.
