Gourmet pub food with local beers. I had the breakfast burger and some sautéed Brussels sprouts. Delicious! The Brussels sprouts were cooked in garlic and lemon. I don’t really like Brussel sprouts and I could not stop eating them!! I took half home and had a meal the next day. The restaurant has an old pub feel and an eclectic vibe. The view is one of the best on the island. Definitely worth the trip. 🤩😋

I had the fried fish sandwich. It was delicious and huge! Crispy breading and flaky white fish. The table split tinned fish as an appetizer. We shared four different tins and they were all delicious. Lunch was great and it would be a great spot for a beer and snacks. I loved the atmosphere, it had a great view of the harbor.

Great little find after our hike at ships harbour. Really friendly staff and service, helpful with our baby and getting some food out fast. Best meal we had on our Maine vacation. Each dish was really well done and delicious. Get as many sides as you can!

We came here after a long day at Acadia and MAN this place hit the SPOT.

We waited a bit for a table and got some good beers and chatted with some of the locals who were so kind. Enjoyed looking at the eclectic assortment of trinkets on the walls.

Then the food. The fish and chips were great and we loved the crab cakes especially. We didn’t get to try the fried chicken but we want to come back for it since the owner Ryan, who was also super kind and cool, is from Georgia so it’s gotta be good. Also they have lobster only sometimes in the summer, another reason to come back.

Overall great local best spot in small town kinda vibes. Loved.

Had the best Fried Chicken ever at Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn located in Maine. We got to talk with the owner and Chef Ryan. The food quality and quantity was outstanding. They had Bitburger N/A beer there and many fun things on the walls. We highly recommend for anyone to go there, it's worth the trip!9

Crab cakes were awesome along with the slaw. Don't usually care for restaurant slaw as it's just covered in mayo. Not this slaw, it was delicious. Get some smashed potatoes, these are fingerling potatoes crisp yet soft and tender. The fish and chips were no joke. Thought I was going to get a couple pieces of small fish with fries. Nope 3 large hanging over the plate crispy fish on top of a bed of smashed potatoes. Highly recommend this place. Great service, great food, and the music was good ole rock and roll.

Food was so good here…we came twice on our trip to Maine! The crispy chicken is their specialty which is really good but I loved the fish sandwich!!! Yes, it is huge and the fish and batter is amazing. Lite crispy batter and then the fish of the day was the haddock…so good! I also really enjoyed the crab cake special. Nice wine and local beer selection.

1st time visitor - Let's start by saying I love fried chicken. I was looking for a good go-to chicken place ( Not Chester's!!!) that also had a bar and other food choices. I saw Peter's mentioned in DownEast magazine as being one of the 101 Things to Do in Maine in the Summer and they specifically mentioned the fried chicken so on the bucket list it went.
Not disappointed!!
I started by ordering a farm ale from Oxbow Brewing and then rolled the dice and ordered a whole pan-fried chicken...they said give it 35+ minutes but that was fine. The view is awesome looking over the harbor and the vibe was chill.
The food came served on a wooden platter...chicken, biscuits, and their version of smashed potatoes. A little honey butter on the side and pickle slices for garnish.
Good Lord!...that was some damn fine chicken! Hot, juicy, gimme more napkins kind of chicken.
Oh yes, I'll be back again.

The haddock fish filet sandwich is not to be reckoned with...it was humongous..lol..seriously. go you won't be sorry. We rode our motorcycles in and it only added to the ride!

It wasn’t crowded and they don’t take reservations. No dessert available either. Food was great, the fried chicken was super juicy and tasty, although side dishes is bit small. There’s a free parking lot across the street. Love the view of the lake too.

The fried chicken really is that good. We were there for brunch, and everything we ordered (fried chicken Benedict, chicken waffles and biscuits and gravy) was fantastic. Good coffee, too. Very friendly and competent service and charming dining room.

Food was overall excellent, I had the crab cake special and it was one of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich and it was another winner. Smashed potatoes and biscuits were excellent, roasted cauliflower was a little underdone and over dressed with a not so flavorful sauce. Price was fair, and we were grateful they were open off season! My only comment about atmosphere would be to suggest to turn the lights down… it’s super bright and lowering the lights is an easy way to create coziness and warmth.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights, and ate in the tavern several times. Alex and Ryan and all the staff were the most welcoming hosts, they truly made our stay special. The rooms are beautiful and overlook the water. Nothing was bad from the food menu, but make sure to come by for brunch because the crab cake Benedict were my favorite. They have tons of tasty craft beer choices on the menu. All of this in a quite spot right on the water.

This is possibly the best place to eat on all of Bar Harbor -- especially if you're like us and you need something on the menu that isn't lobster or shellfish. Don't let the parking lot deceive you -- it's a shared lot, so just because it's full doesn't mean there is no seating inside the restaurant. They have limited seating outside the restaurant and large tables on the inside. The head chef is absolutely brilliant, and every single dish we've tried is AMAZING!! We heard great things about the chicken (and it's all true -- the chicken, chicken wings, half or whole chicken... all the best we've had), but the Ribeye Steak was the absolute bomb!!! Cooked to perfection, with homemade pickles, potato salad, and roasted garlic with house made sauces -- it's simply wonderful. We've been here multiple times now and will return ofen. Oh, and they have Blanton's at the bar (which is the only place on all of the island that has it that we know of) which is always a special treat. If you know about Blanton's and how hard it is to get/find... you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The staff is super friendly, and many of them seem like family. They work well together. Before going, make sure you call to see if they're open, as they're not always open every day of the week. Go here if you can... you will not be disappointed.

This is a hidden gem that isn't going be hidden for long. Great, simple menu with some crazy good food. The fried chicken is down home and the biscuits are outstanding. Really thoughtful presentation in a setting that is not only hard to beat but is also not at all pretentious. Leave attitude at the door and grab an amazing cocktail from Karie (ask for a Mick). We will be back... probably more than once before we leave for the season.... new favorite!

This was hands down the best restaurant we ate in either South or Bar Harbor. We sat outside and had a great view of the water. The owner has created a fantastic menu. Staff is attentive and kind. 10/10 recommend to anyone local or passing through
