Life Time Southdale is the wonderland of fitness centers! The front desk staff is always so welcoming and friendly, with smiles and greetings each time we enter. It’s lovely. The pools are great: a cool temperature pool for swimming laps, a warm lap pool for kids to learn how to swim & to swim laps (adults too), and the center walk-in wading pool for families & kids. The family changing room area is nice. Plenty of towels are available, with shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lotion.
I highly recommend.

I love this gym. I don’t pay as much because I signed up prior to this club opening, so that’s nice. It can get a little crowded in the free weights and machines area, but not usually too bad. Lockers rooms are not very big, but it hasn’t even really been a huge problem for me, I can always find a locker. That’s just a characteristic of the gym that can’t really change. Facilities are beautiful. In general the staff is excellent. They really treat you as diamond members. The rooftop pool is beautiful. This year the rooftop pool staff i think has improved significantly. Much more attentive this year. The only thing I’d change is make the rooftop pools a little warmer, but that’s a personal preference.

Just wanted to leave a review of this place after being a member for a year.

First of all, a bit of background - I've been training since I was 15 years old (I'm almost 40 now) and have worked out in probably over 100 gyms all over the world.

This is one of the best if not THE BEST gym I've ever been a member of. Any of the negative reviews are by spoiled little babies who get upset when their latte has too much almond milk.

First off, the facility is full of brand new equipment. No machines are ever broken for more than 24 hours before you see a maintenance guy lying on the floor with a wrench making it work again.

In terms of cleanliness, this gym is always spotless. You could probably eat off of the floor anywhere in this gym and it would likely be cleaner than the cleanest spot in my apartment.

Now let's talk about the management...

Guess what, 5 stars for them as well. And in fact this is probably what sets this gym apart from nearly every other gym I've ever worked out in. Yes, of course, everyone wants a job. But the staff here really makes it feel like your $200/mo is well spent.

They're always working hard, always accomodating, always greet you by name and with a smile. I mean honestly even if it's fake-corporate "niceness" (which for the record, I don't think it is) it still beats the disinterested stares and sullen-teenager DMV-type attitude that you find at most other gyms when you ask them to do something.

The staff here is actually super awesome. What I found very interesting is how the upper management will routinely walk the floor to clean equipment. You'll be on your way to your workout and see the GM in his slacks, dress shoes, and collared shirt wiping a corner of the gym (that nobody would ever spot test for dust in a million years) just to make sure the place is spotless. I really can't stress enough how impressive I found this that even the GM will get his hands dirty cleaning equipment and random parts of the facility.

The rest of the staff is awesome too. Trainers are pleasant enough (but mostly focus on their clients instead of schmoozing with members) and same goes for the cleaning/admin crew.

The classes here are top notch as well. I mostly only did the yoga classes (shoutout to Lindsay P and Patrick and the 75 minute flow classes) with some spin here and there. Very challenging classes, great teachers. Can't speak on other classes as I never did them but I'm sure they're of the same caliber.

The rest of this gym is similar to Equinox in that you have shaving cream, razors, moisturizer, good shampoo/conditioner, steam/sauna, jacuzzi, etc. It's like an Equinox except the staff is nice instead of snobby. Maybe it's a Minnesota thing, I'm not sure.

Another great thing about this gym is that the men's locker room has a cold plunge. I'd never done a cold plunge before joining this gym but it speeds up your recovery like no other and increases your work capacity for future workouts. Really amazing and once you start you'll get addicted.

Anyone who complains about this place really honestly has no idea how good they have it. This is EASILY the BEST gym in Minneapolis, probably even Minnesota. Show me 1 gym that even comes close. I should know, I'm a gym snob. I've trained at every major chain, Crossfit boxes, yoga studios, you name it. This place has them all beat. $200/month is expensive to you? I spend more than that on my morning coffee - you're telling me it's not worth spending that on a gym membership that offers all this AND is one of the few businesses where you actually feel like you're getting your money's worth?

I ended up moving to Miami so I had to cancel my membership, but this gym was great and the people working there are 10/10. There's literally no reason to join any other gym in Minneapolis. No other lifetime, crossfit box, yoga studio, nothing. This is the place to be. Thanks to everyone down there and if any of you come to Miami def hit me up on IG @stuartoden.

Of all the lifetime fittnesses I have been to, this one has the nicest equipment. Compared to the others, they have the softest benches, newer weights and equipment, and you cant beat the pool on the roof.

Love the Alpha class. This class is difficult for any fitness level. The coaches are encouraging and knowledgeable. I’ve been a member for 2 months and I am in the best shape of my life. 10/10 would recommend.

No complaints. Staff is very friendly (for the most part) Club is kept up and clean. Only wish is for the sauna in the mens locker room to be cleaned more frequently. It gets musty. The vibe up on the gym floor is unmatched. Best energy at this club. Thanks

This place rocks!! It was my first visit.. And when it comes to Lifetime Fitness.. I was surprised. You have to go up to third floor to work out. They have some machines that are brand new all different kinds. They have whirlpool in the women's locker room and beautiful steam room with subdued light. They is also is an option to do a Whirlpool out near the swimming pool. A dry sauna also exists. Talk about spoiling yourself. No card is used in the lockers you have four digits to remember. This is all I tried at my first visit. The free weights also were fantastic. It's located at Southdale... Check it out..

Connor is the most outstanding Group Fitness instructor that we have ever experienced. We have belonged to several great clubs and Connor stands out, not only for his precise instructions regarding best form, but for every detail of how he sets the atmosphere/attitudes and keeps a large group on track. We are impressed by the quality of Edina Lifetime’s facility but Connor was the best part. My husband & I believe, Connor should be teaching all the other Lifetime instructors how to create his secret sauce. BOOM

Just had dinner at the rooftop bar. It was awesome. Travis was our bartender, he’s a real bartender not just someone filling in, super friendly, happy to be there and personable. Food was quick and good. Amanda knew all the cabana options and we plan to use them this summer. The rooftop is truly a hidden gem in the middle of Edina!

This facility, as a whole is next level! I could spend all day there. I had a massage with Robert...it was by far the best massage EVER!
Not only did get an epic massage, I also got a physiology lesson in the process. Follow this with a nice glass of wine... what a day! THANK YOU Robert!!!

We sat at the rooftop pool for a few hours and our server Amanda took wonderful care of us. She made our experience very enjoyable and was so attentive to us. She was happy and easy going. The world needs more Amanda's!

The childcare center is great! This is the only one that my kids left happy and weren’t climbing over the gate to get out. They came out with little necklaces they made and had fun doing crafts and activities. It was also super helpful that this gym had family changing room which is so nice with little kids. We can take our whole family in there and my husband takes the boys and I take the girls. It’s perfect.

The rooftop pool is on point for adults but my kids thought it was lame for some reason. I just wish it was open later because it would be really cool at night for a date night. They also have a sushi bar with excellent, friendly staff. Everyone is super helpful and this gym seems to be cleaner and newer than the other lifetime gyms I’ve been to.

This is the best of the lifetime fitness locations in the area. Gets a bit weirdly crowded late in the evening, but great for a midday work out. I also do the lifetime work, which is a great co-working space.

My husband and I love this club! Every staff member I've encountered is super professional and top notch. I go to several of the classes and love yoga/sculpt by Lindsay P, Britt Z and Peter! They have some of the most amazing teachers for their classes and it makes it so easy/fun to get a workout in. The pools (rooftop and indoor) are super nice, clean and there is plenty of space to swim for exercise/laps or to lounge and relax. I've brought my 6 yr old niece in several times to swim and she loves the rooftop kid's pool with the other kids. I think they've done an amazing job and our experience has been great. I love the steam room/sauna and jacuzzi in the women's locker room - would love a cold plunge in there as well at some point :) I think they do a great job all around.

I have to give a shout out to their employee Mark who takes care of the Men’s locker room among other things. The guy never has a bad day, and I guarantee he has put more people in a good mood and a smile on their faces than everyone reading this review. I would love to ask him to come work for me if I didn’t think he loved his job so much. Great job Mark, they are lucky to have you! Great gym too - nice vibe - good equipment.

This is a great gym. The staff is working very hard to keep the gym safe and stay open. I appreciate everything they are doing to make everyday I workout a wonderful experience. I feel compelled to write this review due to the negative feedback a few members had. This is a difficult time for everyone, including the hard working staff. Enjoy the beautiful club, enjoy working out, have some compassion and thank the staff for all they do.

While it is definitely not the cheapest workout facility to join, it is definitely the nicest one I have ever joined. It has all the amenities you would want or need. There is a large variety of weight lifting equipment, cardio machines, and other amenities like hot tubs, cold tubs, saunas, and pools. Plenty of classes to choose from and friendly staff to answer you questions. This lifetime also has a sport area with turf and pickle ball. There are rooftop pools in the summer as well. My favorite thing though is that they open at 4 am and close late so I can workout when I need to!

This is the nicest gym I've been too, amazing spa, with ice bath, sauna, steam room. Positive staff, shawn, mark, and shahin to name a few are specifically nice to be helped by.

Shahin has been personal training me the past 3 months and I couldn't recommend him enough. It's changed my life.

At the Life Cafe this morning I dropped my straw to my Life Time reusable cup on the ground as I was a getting cold brew. One of the cafe team members saw and got me a new straw for my cup for free! I thought it was so kind!
