Matt and staff at The Grove are by far the best trainers I’ve ever worked with! He has a level of knowledge and understanding of training and body mechanics that allows for improvement and outstanding results. If a movement or exercise isn’t working he recognizes it and can provide a solution. Even though the training is serious and top-notch Matt cultivates a fun, laid back atmosphere and he truly cares about fostering a welcoming safe space for everyone. There are people of all body types, ages, and abilities, and Matt and Eric are amazing at meeting you wherever you are on your fitness journey. I can’t recommend The Grove enough!!!

Matt and Eric are exceptional trainers and I would recommend them to people of all skill levels. They do an excellent job at meeting you where you're at, as well as driving you to be your best self. Incredibly personable people who are just fun to be around.

I've trained with many people in my life, what sets these guys apart from the field is their dedication and time they put into their craft. They have a large base of tools, as well as the experience to know how to apply those tools optimally. As with anything, you get what you put into it - if you put in the effort they ask of you, you will 100% get better and move towards your goals at a faster rate.

There simply aren't enough adjectives to express how much I love The Grove Strength and Conditioning.
Do yourself a favor and run to this gym for your initial (free) consultation. Matt works with you to understand your goals and has the extensive expertise to provide a plan of action to get you there. Once you are in a class, you will be hooked.
If you are like me, you have probably been to multiple gyms. At The Grove you are NOT just a number. Matt runs small classes and has eyes on each client. He is extremely focused on technical skills and makes adjustments and modifications in real-time. This is a game changer! He is so adept at his craft and loves to share his knowledge and excitement. Its infectious... you can't help but be excited too. Another benefit to small classes is that you get to spend time working out with wonderful, supportive people. (I have a "tribe" now!)
Matt's personal training goes way beyond the gym. He focuses on the whole person - for him it's more than just the workouts. My sleep schedule has changed drastically, and my food intake is far more consistent and thought-out. He has helped me in so many ways - I just can't thank him enough!
I've had the pleasure of working with Matt for 8 years now. Before coming here, I would have to drag myself to a gym - now it's my favorite time of the day! I don't know of many people (outside of Grove members) that see workouts as "guilty pleasures". This is something I do just for myself. I am stronger and in better shape that I have ever been, and I feel healthy and happy. Coming to The Grove was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would encourage you to come and see what Matt can do for you.

I've been going to The Grove for just over a year now and can attest to Matt's effectiveness in all facets of coaching. In my short time here at the Grove, Matt has done an incredible job of correcting my form, showing me new exercises, and in general keeping me accountable with my fitness goals.

His workout plans are expertly curated by him to ensure the training of certain muscle groups, and of course if you have a prior injury or aren't feeling quite right mid-workout he will work with you to either correct your form or find an alternative so you get the most out of your workout. There is a great balance between different facets of personal health here, such as strength work, conditioning, flexibility and mobility, and so on. There is no fear of any session being "too hard" as throughout each one, Matt will work with you to tune everything to be as effective for you as possible.

In terms of atmosphere, Matt has created a space that is friendly, welcoming, encouraging, and fun. I've been to many gyms and group fitness classes that aren't that way, and I'm glad to say that the Grove is exceptional in this regard - whether you are completely new to working out or are a well disciplined athlete, there is a place for you here.

It doesn't end there either. Matt is extremely knowledgeable about all facets of personal health such as sleep and nutrition, and will take your lifestyle outside of the gym into account as well. Having come here after years of inactivity, I'm beginning to feel fit again and have noticed myself getting healthier. I've actually lost a considerable amount of weight while still getting stronger ever since I started coming here.

To say that Matt is an excellent trainer would be an understatement. When hearing the word exercise, many people would think of struggle and difficulty, something to be dreaded. However, coming down here has beem enjoyable enough that I'm constantly looking forward to the next workout as opposed to dreading it. I owe much of that change in mindset and attitude to Matt.

I found The Grove after searching for a gym close to me and I’m so glad that I did! The format of the strength training (small classes and constantly changing workouts) is perfect to keep me encouraged and engaged. I’ve never loved strength training before, but Matt and his team’s kind coaching makes the classes something I have come to look forward to. In the month and a half since I’ve started there, my blood pressure has dropped, I’ve lost weight, and I generally feel more positive about my body. If you are looking for a welcoming fitness experience and to make a difference with your health, you should give The Grove a try.

Working out at the Grove has been a blast this over this past year. The environment is very welcoming and the trainers are very supportive. Before starting at the Grove I didn't really know what to expect from a trainer. I did not do much lifting in gyms. When I started here, Matt made sure I was lifting properly so I would not hurt myself. After a year I feel more comfortable lifting and he has taught me to be more precise in my workouts.
He builds his workouts to meet all experience levels of lifting even in a group session. Not only does he build good workouts but he has great nutrition tips and programs for all the different goals.
Overall it's a great place to workout!!

Matt is incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating when it comes to fitness and health goals. Every workout is specifically crafted by him to target various muscle groups, and he will work with you if a part of your body isn’t feeling right. Matt will work with me to make sure that my diet is up to par with my fitness level, which is often hard to do on my own. I absolutely love attending The Grove, it has become a regular part of my daily routine and I couldn’t recommend it enough!

I am writing this review to express my deep, deep gratitude for The Grove.

I started experimenting with gyms and personal training about 5 years ago after realizing the toll a lifetime of being a sedentary desk jockey was taking on my body. In that time, I’ve spent countless hours (and dollars) on trainers to help me live a more active life. While I’ve made good progress with trainers in the past, none compare to Matt Groves. I have made more progress with him in 3 months than I have in the past 5 years with other trainers.

As a small group personal training client, workouts are designed specifically for me. The amount of thought, detail, and knowledge that goes into creating these workouts blows me away. The only thing better than the workouts is Matt’s ability to coach me through them and adjust them to whatever my body is bringing that day. If something isn’t feeling right or I’m struggling to understand a movement, Matt is always right there to give the perfect cue – often with humor, always with empathy, patience, and kindness.

The atmosphere at the Grove – both physically and culturally – is also in a different league than other gyms I’ve been to. The extensive array of equipment is top-notch, clean and well maintained as are the locker rooms and private showers. The culture is welcoming, non-judgmental, and supportive. It’s a place that seems to attract good, chill people and it’s hard not to feel good when I’m there.

This place is really something special and is a shining reflection of the dedication, hard work, and generosity that went into creating it. I am so thankful for The Grove.

In the past few years I have participated in high level training while competing in Division 1 Football and Track & Field and met various strength and conditioning coaches throughout the process. Matt Groves is one of the best. I have found that Matt has a very good balance in coaching style that not a lot of other coaches have. He creates workouts that are the perfect level of difficulty for those of all skill levels. Additionally, his workouts promote all around health, and not just strength. For example, mobility, explosiveness, and cardio are all things implemented on a weekly basis. Matt is very kind, supportive, welcoming, and provides a very positive atmosphere that allows you to get stronger and healthier every day. I cannot wait to continue working with Matt at The Grove!

I had some tough experiences with trainers in the past so I was worried to work with another trainer but Matt's welcoming and supportive nature eased my worries quickly. He is very attentive and provides helpful feedback to make sure my technique is both safe and effective. Matt is also great at adapting your session with him to work for you. If one part of your workout just isn't working that day, he will modify the session to find something that works. It has been a wonderful experience that has me leaving each session feeling happier and healthier.

I am 52 and have been working out on an off for most of my adult life. I have always done my own thing when it came to exercises and routines, but once i started going to The Grove I realized the benefits of a personal trainer.
Matt is amazing, his amount of knowledge, patience and enthusiasm is tremendous. He has assisted me in customizing my nutrition, added in healthy sleep habits and developing a continuous exercise routine.
I can't put into words how much better I feel physically and mentally in the 3 or so year I have been working with Matt. If you are looking to improve Matt is your guy!

I can't say enough good things about Matt and the environment that he has created at The Grove. He has a wealth of knowledge and is much more than just a fitness coach as he is always trying to help everyone achieve their personal goals whether it be in the gym or not. He takes the time to really get to know everyone and that helps to create a great environment to workout in because you feel like you are working out with a group of friends. Each workout is challenging and if you put in the effort you will start to notice how exercises start to become easier and easier, until he shows you a modified version of the exercise to continue to push yourself to meet your personal goals. With Matts help I've noticed an improvement in not only my physical health, but also my mental health and if you are willing to try Matt will be able to help you too.

Training with Matt is truly one of the best decisions I've made! After having two kids, my core and my overall strength were in rough shape. Matt has helped me rebuild and regain my confidence in working out - and with my myriad of issues/concerns, I was not an easy customer at the start! Matt takes time to listen to your goals, develop a program that gradually builds on itself, and sets you up for long-term success. His wealth of knowledge means he's able to adapt on the fly as you work through your program, and the personalized attention he gives to each client results in a fun, challenging, and most of all effective way to reach your health goals. Matt is a terrific coach for all skill levels and abilities, and I look forward to my workouts with him every week!

I almost never write reviews but this one is worth writing. I've worked with a number of trainers over the past 30 years and Matt is the best of the bunch by far. After working out for most of my adult life, I thought that there wasn't much left for me to learn. I was wrong. Matt's attention to detail is exceptional. He has improved just about every "basic" exercise that I thought I knew by heart. He has helped me work through a nagging shoulder injury and recurring issues with me pulling my back as well. 5 stars!

I had never done any strength training (or much physical training of any kind, really) before joining The Grove four months ago, but Matt has managed to make the process both challenging and achievable. He seems to know exactly what to ask of you, and the results are apparent even though I only spend two hours a week training. Numbers don't lie but, most importantly, Matt puts a lot of emphasis on good form: he carefully corrects every movement and when you get it right, you know it, because you can feel it in your body. You are not just strengthening muscles but learning how to better move around with or without weights.

I look forward to my workouts every week at the Grove. I use the semi-private training option, which is affordable yet still provides highly personalized direction.
After (only!) seven months of training two times a week, I am in the best shape of my adult life even though I have always been an active person. I am experiencing a stronger body with more endurance on hikes, strength in yoga poses, and seeing my ball go farther on the golf course. I’m grateful that I found this exercise option to take care of my body. The atmosphere at the Grove is comfortable and unassuming with great people to work out with. Matt is easy to relate to, and he approaches training with expertise, rigor, and compassion. I appreciate Matt’s depth of knowledge about technique, variations, and his patience to get something working right for you.
Matt not only offers expertise in strength and conditioning training but also in health coaching. He is curious and strives to really understand where you are at and what your goals are – or helps guide you to figure them out for yourself. He keeps the focus entirely on what you want to achieve, without judgement, and offers many effective insights and techniques to help you reach your goals.
My Grove workouts are the ideal way and place to stay healthy and strong to support a better quality of life.
