Great experience with the staff, even during the busiest time of the auction, multiple staff members went out of their way to help me online bidding, finding vehicles etc.

The is one of the best run public auctions in the USA. I was tremendously impressed with the smiling staff and well organized auction

One cool feature they offer an auction class 15 mins before you start so you can feel comfortable bidding.

I bought a car from GDAA, the car had a blown head gasket, everything else was I was good shape, the car was a good buy, I had to put a few dollars in it, but overall I would buy at GDAA again! Just check out the car thoroughly, my car runs great after using blue devil for the blown head! I got a great buy

This place is awesome. They have all different types of vehicles ranging from cars, trucks, vans, new and old. The prices are amazing. They have a public restroom. The staff are polite and friendly. You can purchase a car and drive off the lot the same day, you can even get insurance there. It is a one stop shop. I would recommend this place to anyone, even if you have a lot of money to spend. I really like this place.

This is my second time going to this auction. Once in 2018 and again today in 2021. Both times the staff have been friendly and very helpful and I have walked away with great vehicles! I highly recommend this place for someone looking to get a good car for a great price!

This is the 3rd car I have bought from the auction. I had about $1300 to spend. I bought a 02 Mazda with 83k miles and I'm really happy with my car! I did have to spend some money on tires and brakes and charge up the AC. But i bought the car for $600 so I had extra cash . The staff was helpful and made process easy...thanks Dawn you rock!

Great auction! I have both bought and sold vehicles at this auction. You need to know what you are bidding on and what the conditions of sale are. The customer service there is great. Everyone is friendly and kind. The rules are clearly stated for the first time buyer or for a reminder for someone who has not been in a while.

I have been going here for years and this is my by far my favorite auto auction. I'm known for my love of the non runners and donations. Jeff and the team are like family and they truly want every customer to have a good experience. I wanted to give some advice to new buyers that may read this review. These tips will make your auction experience MUCH more enjoyable.

1. Most important: On the auction website there is a link at the top of the page "auction rules". These pages explain in detail everything you need to know about the auction process including what the lights mean (green, yellow, red). It also explains in detail what you can negotiate in arbitration and items you cannot. Reviewing this information will prevent a lot of frustration in the auction buying process. The office ladies go over this information before you get your badge but reviewing this information before the day of the auction will be a big help.

2. Read and understand the buyer's fees before the auction. Auction fees are necessary for the auction house to pay overhead and operate. All auctions charge fees, the fees at GDAA are some of the lowest I have found. The best advice I can give is to figure out what your top price is that you can afford. Review the buyer fees, title/doc fees, and taxes to figure out what your top auction bid price should be. A lot of frustration occurs when people do not understand the fee structure and bid over what they can afford after the fees.

3. Do your homework. Review the auction website for the vehicles available in the upcoming sale. Write down the run numbers and notes for each vehicle you are interested in. On the day of the sale, inspect the vehicles and take notes on each one before they run through the auction. If you wait until the vehicle comes across the block you will not have enough time to do a full and complete inspection and could miss something you will kick yourself for later. There are lot of vehicles that look alike at the sale and it is easy to get them mixed up. It will help to take a notebook with you to keep track of the vehicles you're interested in.

Now that you have done your homework, know what your bid price should be, and understand the process, sit back and enjoy the auction. Auctions are fun and exhilarating when you are prepared and know what to expect.

Some things that set this auction apart from other public auctions that I frequent is the Green light vehicles. Their mechanic drives the vehicle with you as a passenger. Liability prevents customers from driving the vehicles. If you have any concerns with how the transmission shifts or engine issues, make sure to mention them to the mechanic at that time. After you leave the auction its too late.p All other auctions I have been to do not allow a test drive or arbitration and you are forced to buy the vehicle regardless if it has a major issue.

Donation, bank repo's, and new car trades are all red light vehicles. This does not necessarily mean there is something major wrong with them, its just the auction policy that all of these vehicles are sold under red light/as is. If you are interested in one of these vehicles it is best to do your due diligence before bidding because they are sold as is. Bid accordingly knowing there is a possible risk that something could be wrong with them but in a lot of cases there is not.

I hope this review helps, its the best advice I can give with my experience buying at greater detroit.
