The Hermann Monument Society

Large park and monument site, fully equipped with picnic/grilling amenities for all sizes of groups, including 2 large, fully enclosed pavilions. A very modern, fenced in playground available for children of all ages and ability levels recently built. Clean, well maintained public restroom available. The star attraction of the park, the Herman Monument, offers a beautiful overlook of the city and valley, either from the observation platform, or just from its base, as well as great historical information about Herman and the site of the monument itself. If you've never been to the top, suggest a visit sooner rather than later though as this was built long ago, and I can personally see some overzealous safety group try to close this access down, ruining the experience forever. A visit here is time well spent.

What a great little place. Didn't expect to be able to walk all the way to the top of the statue! It costs just a few dollars but, he view of the whole city and beyond is worth it!

Great city park with big trees and a great view overlooking the city. Plus the giant Hermann statue.

You can see over the entire area when you get to the top. The playground area is one of the best ever. A must see if you go to New Ulm.

I remember hearing about this monument years ago. It’s a must see you’re in New Ulm!

Wish I came here on the weekend when this is open, but even walking around the monument is beautiful.
Public restrooms are open weekdays.

Worth the stop to climb up and see the city. Good piece of history. Park next door for the kids to burn some energy.

Nice park for the kids the only park in New ulm that has great grills 3 to be exact and double sided so 6 families can cook at the same time.

Cool old monument with a beautiful look over New Ulm and the Minnesota River valley. 99 steps we counted but some are more ladder than stairs so not for people without much agility.

A beautiful statue with informational signs nearby on the history of the statue and the real life Herman the German. For a small fee ($3/person) you can climb to the outside top of the dome and stand at Herman's feet, and enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding area. Highly recommend, its worth the money!

Pretty neat part of history. 3$ to tour or just walk around the outside for free. Was worth the stop on my way across the west of the state.

Who knew New Ulm, MN had a monument to Hermann of Germania who defeated the Roman army in 9 AD. It is undergoing renovation but is still a great historical site worth seeing.

Beautiful park and play area. Wonderful view of area from top of Monument; however, the stairs and hatch may prove physically challenging for some.
