Penn Lake Library

The library is small and cozy. I like the study rooms and there are three available that can be reserved. There are comfortable places to sit around the library if you decide to study elsewhere or read a book. I also noticed they had meeting rooms available but I did not explore these further. Overall I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.

This is one of our favorite local libraries. Besides being classic in layout/design...it is just big enough to have everything you want...and...need. The staff has always been more than helpful...kind...and...knowledgeable. They offer many complimentary computer stations where you can browse the internet/print/study. There is also a photocopier/fax machine that is currently free to use. [before Corona...there was a ten-cent per page fee but...they've been allowing complimentary printing for a set number of pages per patron...per day...for quite some time now. Not sure how long that will continue but...it is a nice amenity.] They have a decent selection in their children's area from early readers...to school-age/older children as well. Outside...there is a small natural play area for warmer months. Another bonus is that they are open seven days a week...with the exception of holidays. They offer many free classes/activities in the onsite meeting room which can also be rented out for free with prior reservations. We stop in several times a week...and...will always continue to do so.

My family and I had a very nice visit here. We signed up for library cards, which was super quick. The staff member was very nice too! We spent some time browsing the children's book section, and my son had to check out the little toy section too. Self checkout was simple and quick, and there was plenty of seating as well. Overall, a very nice clean library! My kids love this library!

Modern library with nice computers, environment, and parking. They subscribe to the Free to Read policies.

I've been coming to this branch since it opened. I've seen many changes. It's the perfect neighborhood library.

This has been my neighborhood library for over 40 years. I grew up riding my bike here with friends and continue visiting to this day. I loved it then and I love it now. It is cozy and welcoming - to me the perfect size. The staff is helpful and friendly. I appreciate the ability to search the library website for books and place holds on them for pick up at PL. I actually can’t think of any negatives. 👍

I haven't been to the library in over 20 years to borrow a book. Smartphone and Kindle has kept me from this precious resource so my review is clearly going to late grasp on reality.

I had a great time here. Spent maybe an hour and loved how they had books displayed on stands to catch the eyes better so you don't have to turn your head to read titles. The self checkout is awesome and fast! Plus seeing the recommendations for books is a great way to get old timers like me, pointed in the right direction! So glad I made it out to the library today!

The library staff is really friendly (even offering to give me a tour when they learned it was my first time in). It's not a big library, but it makes use of the space pretty well and the decor makes it feel pretty cozy. The selection isn't as large as the nearby Southdale library, but it's enough to find something interesting.

The only downside is that the library closes at five most evenings, but that's a problem that plagues many small libraries due to slashed state funding. Still, it's a good library if you just want to stop in and grab a book or work for a few hours.

Good selection of books. Helpful librarians who can get books for you from other libraries. They also help with computers

Cute! My kids and I had fun!

Staff here is real friendly and helpful. I stopped in a couple years ago while on a YOLO adventure of following my favorite artist on her North American tour - this was before I left reviews. She had performed the night prior in Minneapolis and before leaving for the next show I wanted to get scans of the tour book to share with friends online.

Obviously I didn’t have a library card, but front desk had a temp log in ready and waiting for me. In about an hour I had everything scanned, saved to my phone, and was ready to head to the next show/city.

Been going to this library since it opened in th 70's. It has always been stocked with the best reading materials, with ready access to attain additional items and the staff has always exceeded my expectations. A great place!

This is a nice little neighborhood library. The selection isn't huge, however the staff is willing to help order any books you need. The staff here has been very helpful to me and my children.

Now that they have upgraded to a Grab-n-Go library, I can go in, use the computer, pick up my holds, and browse a bit. Good to have you back Penn Lake Library!
