The 5 Star classy restaurant of Northeast - always exceeds expectations (so I'm told!). I've lived in the neighborhood nearly a decade and finally made it in for dinner. Amazing. Everything was wonderful - from having a sweet and friendly server to every delicious lick, bite, taste of our food. I see why this is everyone's special go to restaurant! It's an absolute must! The interior design is enough to keep your eyes busy while you wait for your food. Live lobster. Piano. Bar. They even had good NA beer options! I highly recommend the oysters on a half shell for starters.

Only complaint was we came for the patio and it was closed for a private event. Which we wanted to try the happy hour menu.
We ended up spending a lot on dinner but it was really good and loved the drinks as well. Can’t wait to try the patio sometime. ❤

This was our first trip to a Supper Club... What a great experience. When I first stepped into Jax I felt transported back to the early 1900 when it was founded. Reservations are highly recommended and very easy to make online. They have an extensive Cocktail and Wine menu and plenty of varieties of beer. I started with the Bailey's Chocolate Martini, which was like Dessert in a glass. When I first saw it, I thought the Dinner menu looked relatively small, but after studying it I realized it had all the right things and plenty of options to choose from. Our server, Angela, was fantastic. Very attentive, but not hovering. She told us about the specials of the day, all of which sounded scrumptious. We chose to go with no appetizers but started with salads and a basket of warm bread. I had their house salad, which was very similar to a Cesar salad and topped with the perfect amount of dressing. I ordered the smothered ribeye steak; my wife got their 14 oz Prime Rib. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, a pan seared and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was mothered with mushrooms and onions over a generous serving of Hash Browns. The combination of all items was mouthwatering. My wife thought her prime rib had too much fat, tough to judge when it comes to prime rib, but the meat was delicious. We finished our meals by sharing a piece of their delicious Chocolate Bailey’s cake. What a great evening. Be prepared to spend a good amount of money, but to me, it was worth every cent.

Jax Cafe in Minneapolis! This place is still one of the best places to go for a fine dining experience. Food and service A Plus!

Lovely atmosphere both inside and out on the patio. Servers and hosts were very attentive and friendly. Loved the live piano music too.

First time visit back in November! The waitress was wonderful! The food was absolutely delicious! Best steak I’ve had in my life. In fact, the whole experience is why we are planning a two hour drive just to eat here for our anniversary coming up! Yes, I’m driving 2 hours for food 😂 but it was just that good! Most places we’ve been to eat for each anniversary have usually let us down- so if traditions means we drive two hours for perfection- I’m game! Anyhow, 5 out of 5 👍🏻

All in all we had a beautiful meal in a superb setting with exemplary service! A restaurant is not open for this long unless it does things well

Reserved a table for my mother's birthday. They treated her like a queen! Overall great experience.

Brought 1 of my besties to Jax Cafe 😍💚❤🖤. She was so mad and happy at the same time 😂😂😂. She said I was holding out on her, with the location. I wasn't😭😭😭. But the prime rib 16-20oz, great happy hour, this dinner but they brunch 🔥🔥 too

We made reservations about a month in advance to spend Valentines Day at Jax. Started with an old fashioned with bacon in it, which was sweet and interesting, and a baked goat cheese with tomatoes and crostini. The cheese was crumbly instead of soft and creamy as I expected, but was a great combination of flavors. I started with a "house" salad, which is a caesar - and probably one of the best Ceasars I've had in recent memory (generous dressing without it being wet, and buttery croutons with just the right amount of parmesan). BF devoured his clam chowder too, with only good things to say.

The entrees were perfection. The 6oz filet mignon is perfect for a multi-course dinner, and the mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy and flavorful. The asparagus was enormous and can easily be split between 3 hungry people. Prime rib was perfectly prepared as well. Both desserts were delicious, and worth the calories. We compared this to our NYE meal at Capital Grille in St Paul and said we'd put Jax in first place.

My one complaint was that our table was in the middle of the room, right in front of the doors to the kitchen. The constant flow of traffic is disruptive and I was constantly being jostled by servers rushing past. I would absolutely ask for a different table in the future, even if it meant waiting slightly longer for a different seat.

David was the best server❤ I've dined in Paris, Manhattan, Chicago, Los Angeles and New Orleans. He is by far at the top with his warmth, experience and quickness. We had booked a table for 8 for our wedding party and felt like royalty from the moment we walked in the door. This is the perfect place for special occasions, especially if you have people who are hard of hearing, as the atmosphere is not too loud. Jax is a true NE treasure and David is definitely part of why I say this. Thank you for making our wedding night so special.

If you're looking for an old-school steak & lobster restaurant where the food is great, the drinks are magnificent, and the service is impeccable, then this is it. It was like going back in time to when restaurants were used to close deals, family celebrating special occasions, or if you have a special someone that you would like to enjoy a great meal. It is definitely on my radar when I come back to visit.

I took my wife to Jax for her first visit on her birthday. They made it such a special occasion, from the host greeting her by name and wishing her a happy birthday, to the personalized matches on the elegant window side table. The food was great, the service impeccable and the whole experience perfect!

We have come here for years as a whole family. Just about every special holiday we do the brunch. Excellent food. Staff is great. Definitely worth the money.

Enjoyed one of last warm days of the season in Jax courtyard. They had the heaters on, and it was decorated for fall with mums and pumpkins along the trout stream. A fine Friday lunch. We had a prime rib sandwich with mushrooms, onion and horseradish sauce on a pumpernickel roll, lobster roll, fresh walleye. The soups were excellent. It's pricey, but the classic American food and service is impeccable.

The Shrimp Cocktail is delicious! Amazing steak. A beautiful place to celebrate a special occasion.

I was talking to somebody at a party while I was here, and they had been here at the same restaurant in 1965. It’s a staple, it’s right out of a time warp and it’s still completely lovely. If you’re looking for something a little bit fabulous, yet low-key enough to just wear jeans- you found it! Perfect for a nightcap, or bringing a date to a quiet booth.

We really enjoyed brunch at Jax! Our table of 4 shared the beignets, and we really liked the amaretto French toast and breakfast pot pie. We had the bottomless mimosas, and they are very generous with refills!
