Green Lantern Restaurant

We had a fabulous Friday dinner. We went for fish fry but couldn't resist the crab stuffed grouper. Old Fashioneds were great, salad bread before the fish, the grouper was perfectly cooked. Our service was excellent, Mary took care of our special requests and checked in often.

Cheese curds appetizer, perfect. Capital Amber, old fashioneds..yummy. Perch and cod dinners...absolutely perfect! Our server topped off a perfect experience by timing everything perfectly! Did not disappoint 🙌

Great view and atmosphere. Service is friendly. Seems like the food is great, but personally I didn’t like my fish, maybe that’s just me. My husband loved his wrap. Definitely will be stopping by if will be passing nearby

Been going there for atleast 30 years. Wouldn't keep going back if it wasn't good. Friday fish fries, Wednesday corn beef and cabbage, great burgers and soups. Can't go wrong with anything! Breakfast is always great.

We have come here for breakfast many times, and always leave happy. The food is so delicious, the staff is very friendly, and seating offers a great view of Lake Waubesa. Mimosas and Bloody Mary drinks are great. This place is our favorite breakfast spot.

Beautiful spot in McFarland where you can eat and experience the local lake before and after dinner. Menu includes fried chicken, walleye, and bluegill, so it is a Wisconsin dinner spot done right. Ownership and service are Wisconsin friendly, and the food is football Saturday good... meaning (in my humble opinion...) it doesn't get any better than this. We hadn't been here for a few years, but used to go quite a bit. Delivery appetizers (onion rings, French fries, etc), dinner club style salads with French dressing, and fried chicken done the way it's supposed to be. While Pete the retired truck driver and I ordered and mowed down on and loved the fried chicken...Lisa got the fish tacos and Brett ordered his walleye broiled. Brynne, of course, enjoyed her chicken strips and fries. Wisconsin beat an already beat up New Mexico State team 66-7. And all was right in the (local) world, if only for a moment.

The green lantern bar and restaurant is a pretty good place. Not fancy but simple and reliable. We didn’t eat food. We were only at the bar… But this is what I can tell you:

The drinks are strong pours… Fairly well-made, but definitely strong on the alcohol. Your mileage may vary. That may be a plus or minus for you. I got a vodka gimlet… That turned out to be about 2 1/2 shots of vodka and a splash of lime juice and a slice of lime not very gimlet-y. Scott got an old-fashioned that although a bit strong was well-made.

The barkeeps were friendly, but perhaps overworked, or in attentive as they were hard to get their attention despite the fact that they were not droves of people, trying to get drinks at any given time.

The environment is local supper club… Clean, comfortable nice views… But again not fancy. The space is good for conversation, and the ambient noise of the happy patrons makes the vibe very positive and energetic.

parking is plentiful, but we walked in from the lake park side over the bridge, which was a lovely hike on a nice day… The green lantern was a great midway stop for a drink, and a conversation before returning back on the hike to our car.

I understand the restaurant serves hearty, good food… And I’ll be back to try that in the near future.

I have been eating here for years,love old school lunch with Ace auto crew.And now awesome lunches with the wife.

Walleye breakfast, coffee with some wiggies. What a delicious breakfast. There’s a reason they’ve been open forever, food is fantastic! Service is wonderful and the views are great!

Great food, very reasonably priced. Staff is always friendly. Their staff has very low turnover so you can tell they like working there. Great view of Lake Waubesa. You can't beat their Friday fish fry. Also, a very nice bar and friendly bartenders.

Lunch specials are under $10 and you get a full plate of good food. My favorite Friday lunch - fried cod with choice of potato, cole slaw, and a slice of fresh baked bread for $8.95. How can you beat that? I also like the baked chicken lunch with mashed potatoes and gravy, also $8.95.

I'm glad we had reservations because it got really busy while we were there.

I had the Bacon Wrapped Filet and Eggs. My wife had the Half Order of Waffles.

The food was amazing, and the service was excellent.

It was very good. The burger I had was one of the best burgers I have ever had. You can see the lake from the dinning room. The bar looked very nice. The seasoned fries were the best. Service was very fast and very polite. It was one of the best places I have been.

I hesitate in writing this review because I’d hate for the secret to get out and this gem of a place to get overwhelmed with crowds! I’ve grabbed the lunch special here three times now after biking on the boardwalk trail, and every time it has been delicious. Where else can you get a plate loaded with classic comfort food like turkey and gravy with stuffing mashed potatoes and corn in a bun for less than 10 bucks? Service is fast and polite. Atmosphere is homey plus includes a great sweeping view of lake waubesa. If you haven’t tried this place at lunch you really need to!!

Sunday Brunch! If you haven’t ever had Walleye and eggs, I’m sorry. Go here, get it, by far the The Greenies tips the scales. It is so amazing, don’t bother with anything else. Sounds strange you say, then you aren’t from WI and you just need to go and try. Treat your sever well, they are all so great!!!! If you are extra hungry like me, get a second piece of walleye. I know it sounds a bit fishy, but you will be full to the gills by the time you hit your “wall”eye. The bar also makes goooood drinks.

I love Green Lantern! We have always had great food here. And tonight it is topped off with a gorgeous sunset over the lake. Our dinner tonight was 2 delicious burgers. As usual, our service was friendly and quick. This was a lovely Tuesday evening dinner with my daughter.

Green Lantern is right on Lake Waubesa in McFarland and has a small town supper club feel, even though it’s just minutes from Madison. The food is good, the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. Enjoy the lake view early in the day in winter OR late into the evening in summer. Full bar with sports on as well.

I had dinner here two nights, and I was not disappointed either time. The broiled walleye was delicious, and the prime rib was perfect.

My friends and I were Googling places to try and came across this restaurant. The Green Lantern came up and we decided to try it. The Green Lantern was very nice and "towny". There we enough parking for a normal night, but on a Friday night, many cars did have to park in the street. Service was good. Slightly slow, but to be expected for a Friday night. In the upper dinning area you are able to see the lake from inside. It was a great view. The food was great as well. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone I talk to and I plan on coming back often.

Went for Friday night fish. I had the 1 piece deep fried cod dinner with hashbrowns and cottage cheese. It was very tasty
Others at my table had bluegill and deep fried cod. Our service was excellent and we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for a table.
