NOMS Dr. Nicholas Callahan, DO

There are not enough words to describe how phenomenal Dr Callahan is in his field. I had a full knee replacement one year ago. I was back up to swimming in six weeks. I am at 💯 per cent with full recovery and it took less than nine months. He explained every single thing in detail so that I knew what to expect. And he was spot on. Shout out also to his surgery staff. They were the best ever!!

The Best
My wife Sharon has had three joint replacements. Both hips, and the right knee. Unfortunately, the surgeon at UH who performed each of these has now retired. Sharon needs a fourth procedure, this time to replace the left knee. She is in serious pain. Our appointment with Dr. Callahan was incredible. He carefully explained the entire procedure. Carefully reviewed earlier imaging and did additional imaging at the office. Demonstrated the mechanics of the procedure with models that were very easy to understand. He did not rush us, and answered all of our questions knowledgeably and compassionately. We know others who have had joint replacements by Dr. Callahan, and they rave about the outcome. Dr. Callahan was an excellent choice. Thank you.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Callahan’s skills. Intelligence, and ability as a surgeon! My recent surgery was a complete success!. I had been in pain for more than a year, putting off hip surgery, speaking with other surgeons, and just not feeling good about having the surgery done. However, upon meeting Dr. Callahan, I was impressed with his knowledge, understanding of my pain, and the way he gently explained the status of my hip, the need for surgery, and what all that would entail, without my feeling pressure to do the surgery. I knew right then that he was the right surgeon. I left his office feeling very confident that he knows what he is doing, and I will be in highly skilled hands. I was right! I went in barely able to walk without excruciating pain, and came out of surgery able to walk and move about the next day- minus the hip pain. I’m on my third week since surgery, and I am still amazed that I can stand up without pain, and walk without hip pain. Best of all I am sleeping through the night without awakening due to hip pain. I never realized how much pain I was in until now. Having the surgery completed by Dr.Callahan was the best decision I made, and if and when I need the other hip replaced I will not wait as long as I did with the first hip, and I will have him do it. He is number 1 on my list of surgeons and I would recommend him to everyone! I suggest people to just meet with him, and judge for yourself-you will be glad you did!

I found Dr. Callahan through a Physical Therapist friend of mine who recommended him because of the great outcomes his patients all had. After having visited with several other orthopedic surgeons I was blown away by my interaction with Dr. Callahan. Not only was he confident in his method of hip joint replacement (anterior vs posterior), he instilled great confidence that I was making the right decision given my circumstances. His bedside manner is excellent and he takes as much time with you as you need. He is easy to talk to, kind and down to earth.
He explains things an in easy to understand way, and pre and post op instructions are simple and clear. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone seeking a hip or knee replacement. I experienced little/no pain and was able to do things (walk, stairs, etc) much sooner than most people I spoke with who had different surgeons (or robots), or who used different approaches (posterior). Dr. Callahan is fantastic. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Callahan is fabulous! I am a physician myself, so I am very attuned to his dedication, precise care, and his intent to do everything possible for the best outcome.
I was one of his first patients upon his coming to the East side of Cleveland.
Dr. Callahan is quite meticulous - not only in his surgical skills but also pre and post op. Dr. Callahan answered all of my questions and there were many! He never once made me feel that I was being rushed or that he was in a rush.
Dr. Callahan is very respectful and I can only say the best things about him. He is passionate about what he does and considering I had a full hip replacement, I can march and hike and I have a tiny bikini scar which is not visible!!
