Domo Yakitori and Sushi

Honestly the best sushi in town ! Textures and flavors are spectacular! quality in everything they make ! My recommendation is the dragon roll is you are looking for something with a lot of flavor and the tempura flakes give you a perfect crunch ! Next time your in the area don’t forget to stop by Dino Yakitori And Sushi !!

First off, I am glad this shop is in the neighborhood, comforted knowing there's a decent sushi place nearby. It is located in the back of the van Aken Marketplace, toward the indoor parking garage. There are a few tables in the shop, but the Marketplace offers plenty of options to sit and watch people. You'll get a buzzer that alerts when the food is ready to be picked up. Craft Collective is close by, and I like to grab a beer while waiting for the food to be prepared. (Ah, the sweet life for a suburban dad.). As expected, the pace at the shop varies, and that can influence prep time.

The quality of the food is excellent. I notice that immediately when biting into the rice - just the right taste and importantly tactile feel, the right give. That holds for both the rolls and yakitori dishes. We've got vegetarians in the group and the tofu yakitori dish is a big surprise. Admittedly, I don't eat much tofu, but this is the best I've tasted, just the right mix of flavors. We've settled into our faves off of the menu: spicy tuna, California and Philly rolls, plus the tofu dish. Everyone is happy at the end of a hot (for Shaker) workday.

I recommend Domo Yakitori and Sushi to friends and family.

As a vegetarian, you don’t often find a sushi place that has more than one option. One sad, boring option. Not so at Domo! Not only did they have a variety of options, they all sounded equally tasty. I went with the mushroom and it was delicious! So nicely balanced with the slight sweetness of the mushrooms and sautéed onions and the bite of the pickled veggies.
I’ll definitely be back to try the others!

I had the cabbage pancake with octopus to go. It was delicious and I admit I didn’t order it weeks ago because I mistakenly thought it was a pancake made of cabbage. It’s not. Totally yummy!

If your looking for a great sushi spot you have found it! My friend and I came in today! We ordered the dragon roll and scallop roll!! They both were amazing! We also ordered a chicken skin since we've never had one before and it was also good! nice and crispy :) highly recommend!!

We’ve enjoyed Domo Yakatori and Sushi many times over the past year. It was a great treat for my pandemic birthday as something different and we love going back. We love all the types of vegetarian sushi and the chicken and tofu skewers. We think it’s wonderful to have great sushi practically in our backyard and our almost-teenager son is becoming a tuna and dragon roll aficionado. Try it soon!

Went to this amazing eatery for lunch and it did not disappoint. Me, my daughter and son n law ordered both the chicken breast and thigh yakitori along with the Hiroshima pancake. We were so happy to have made the right choices. Definitely will go back again. Thanks for the awesome experience.

I ordered take-out and since I had never tried Domo before I ordered a sampling of Yakitori, Sushi, and the Hiroshima style okonomiyaki pancake. All the dishes were excellent, though the yakitori with the sushi rice unconventional, as the flavor of the sushi (good, but not expected). The star though: the cabbage pancake. I've had Osaka style before but this is a treat on a level I didn't expect. So many layers of flavor coming together in harmony. Will be back for sure!

Delicious- I had the spicy tuna roll. The guys are super nice and I hope to try the pancake next. Their prices are consistent with all the other food vendors in Market Hall - (all a little $$) but the food was delicious and served quickly! I wish them good luck and I will be back!

$34 for sushi for two. This has become our go to sushi option. It isn’t fancy, but it isn’t supposed to be. It is Japanese street food and on that they deliver. The sushi is solid and they have lots of creative vegetarian options. The skewers are fantastic. I had the tofu skewer tonight. It comes with rice and a cabbage slaw. The skewer was a ton of food for $10.

Awesome little place! Tough crowd for us sushi regulars but Domo will be an easy sushi favorite from now on. Caught them on their opening day- we ordered 2 rolls (firecracker & spicy tuna) and both were so delicious and perfect. Spoke with the owner too, as he was working behind the counter. Super friendly guy, great service all around. If you’re a regular in van aken, this place was perfect for lunch or a takeaway dinner!

The cabbage pancake is seriously the most phenomenal thing I have had in a very long time! The sushi is amazing too. The people writing all the one star reviews are probably the type that dip theirs in ranch.
Of course you’re going to wait a few minutes when things are made fresh right in front of you. The wait wasn’t any longer than any other place in Van Aken would be.

Delicious sushi. Had the dragon roll and the crab salad topping is the best and freshest around. Also enjoyed the chicken breast skewer. Very flavorful sauce and tender chicken. Will definitely be back!

Was excited to try this place out and it is surrounded by outstanding restaurants that are really pulling out all the stops. Unfortunately it was just...off. Just everything about it. Tasted like it came out of a fridge despite just prepared. The rice was hard in some areas like it had gone stale. Thought I had COVID for a second because I could barely taste it. Hope it make a 180 on what it is currently doing.

Update 11/16/21 gave it another shot recently and it was really good. No inconsistencies in the rice firmness this time and the fish kinda melted in your mouth. Very very good. Will try again. My wife really likes the pancake meal thing.

Domo Yakitori and Sushi is such a gift to Cleveland! My favorite food in the world is Asian street food and Domo does an incredible job bringing unique Japanese street food to life. The Okonomiyaki (Japanese street pancake) is phenomenal and authentic. The combination of flavors and textures is masterful and creates a truly unique experience. This would certainly rank in my "top 10 things you must eat in Cleveland"!!!

Being Japanese, I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality & quantity of the street food offered at the Domo Yakitori & Sushi nestled in Van Aken Shopping Center. Carmen & her staff have done a marvelous job creating the flavorful foods characteristic of the fare favored by Japanese business people, students & shoppers in the many Ginzas back home. My girlfriend & I shared the shiitake mushroom sushi, chicken thigh yakitori & okonomiyaki & had enough left over for two additional meals making this reasonably priced restaurant a real bargain for tasty, filling food. My girlfriend, who is a CIA trained gourmet chef, appreciated the addition of the bacon to the okonomiyaki because singular changes in flavors or spices really heighten the culinary experience for even the uninitiated tyro like me. We will definitely return here again soon & we hope that you will join us in enjoying this gem among Cleveland's many outstanding ethnic restaurants. Domo arigato Domo Yakitori & Sushi. During my next visit to Japan, I will be thinking how your food transported me back & I will have to ask if they will add bacon to my okonomiyaki order.

Loved the food here. The space was super cute, and the flavors and textures were perfect. They weren't kidding about the spice! I can't wait to come back.
