Delicious food and great service at the heart of Los Altos. The menu has so many interesting options and there were several tempting specials, we will need to come back to try it all. The crab toast, the duck cake and the scallop appetizers were very tasteful, as well as our main entree (a halibut special). Our waiter was very helpful, the atmosphere was great and they also had a nice drinks and wine menu.

Great local gem, especially the seasonal Dungeness crab pasta is a dish we wish they had year-round! All their foods are high quality and fresh ingredients, has a great chef with great taste and amazing friendly staffs. High ceiling, great interior and lighting makes a nice comfy atmosphere.

The mushroom pasta is amazing! They have a secret sauce on it and it tastes fabulous. The portion is big, so I need to go box half of it to home.
Tuna appetizer and burana cheese was great too. It is expensive restaurant, so would save it for special occasions.

Restaurant with a decent selection of wines.
Pros: Good food, a menu with interesting options, and very good service. The ambient is warm, and there are tables outside too.
Cons: Chairs rather uncomfortable, and the overall place needs a little more light

Perfect place for a nice meal in Los Altos. Service is great and food is authentic Italian with organic ingredients. Great ingredients makes great food with excellent chiefs. The service was excellent. Atmosphere is nicely lite and you can sit inside or out.

The design of ASA is inviting and the food is great. Highly recommend the garlic shrimp as an appetizer. They were perfectly cooked, but are also very heavy on the garlic side. It balances out well with the table bread. I went with the pasta of the day for the entree, which was a crab spaghetti. The sauce was rich and the crab was very flavorful. To finish, we shared the dessert options with the table. The molten chocolate cake is a must and the cookies have a great texture. You can bring your own wine or choose from their selection of beer and wine. Service was friendly and professional; we will definitely be returning!

Overall - If I can give this restaurant more stars, I'll definitely love to!!! This has become my most favorite restaurant in town!

Service - We came here Thursday night with reservation. Excellent service with a caring server. Warmly greeted by the gentleman who seat us. Our server was a friendly and pleasant young lady.

Food - WOW!! Every dish was palatable and cooked perfectly. We started with Duck Potatoes and Lobster Toast. Since we were a group of four, the chef even cut the toast into four pieces for us to share. The toast was crispy and let the flavors of the lobster shine through. We also tried Steak, Duck Two Way, Scallops of the Sea, and Mushroom Pasta. Meat was tender and juicy, the pasta was very creamy. And the chef knew well on how to design a stunning dish.

Ambience - elegant and upscale. The noice level was just about right that my friends and I could hear each other.

I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.

Just phenomenal !

Glad we randomly discovered this place while strolling by. We didn't have reservations but were promptly accommodated. The quality was wonderful, and the service was phenomenal.
This has definitely gone on our "date night" list of places.

Ordered take out from ASA tonight. I had the ribs, which were juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender. A huge portion I couldn't finish now but will have later. I tasted the duck, which was perfectly prepared with just a touch of pink in the center. The carbonara was very decadent, and although the portion seemed smaller only half was finished. I didn't really see the steak - by the time I looked up it was gone - so I guess it was good too. All in all great to skip the dishes tonight and have some very special entrees.

Mar 19, 2021. ASA open for inside dining!

Need reservations, very chill atmosphere with friendly (but slightly slow) service. Drinks were good.

The serendipitous highlight of the night was the anchovy bread, recommended by waiter. Would come back just for that! The shrimp appetizer was also spot on, loved it.

Entrees were a bit less exciting. Still delicious but nothing to write home about. We got the pork belly and mushroom handmade pasta. Dessert was great (cake a la mode).

We had reservations at another restaurant in town but really wanted to go to ASA, so we stopped by at 6 pm and they had a table for us right then. Big problem: cell coverage is terrible in Los Altos, so we could not get online to cancel our other reservation. We didn’t want to be no-shows (never!) and were a little concerned. We asked our waiter (who was very sweet and attentive and may have been in training) if there was a password we could use. He gave us one. It didn’t work. So he put his phone on the table and let us use it as a hotspot while we got online to cancel our other reservation. Above and beyond, Zach. We see you. We also see how harshly poor Zach seemed to be treated by the other staff, but he gave us excellent service throughout. Now, onto the food. So good! I had the trout, which was expertly prepared and plated. Loved everything about it. Hubby had the duck breast, which was super tender and interestingly prepared. Cocktails were creative and delicious too. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. I hope Zach is still there!

Very cool restaurant whose front opens up to let the fresh Palo Alto air in. Tonight I enjoyed a tasty old fashioned (or two), Asa salad and the fresh catch of the day which was Halibut. Food was great. Gosh is delivered fresh every day and filleted in the kitchen. Check it out when you’re in Los Altos.

The restaurant is very upscale. The decorations, lighting, hosts, servers all top shelf 😀. The staff was very nice, fast and helpful. The food was better than I expected as well. In some good looking restaurants, food does not match the ambiance but for ASA that was not the case. We will definitely come back here. The prices are a bit more 3$ than 2$ but worthed.

Exceptional dinner. Oysters, cocktails, wines by the glass, steak and coq co vin were exceptional. The service from a lovely Italian waitress was extraordinary.

Fantastic restaurant! Great food and service. One of the best in California in my opinion. Cocktails were delicious. Oysters were very fresh and juicy, wild shrimp was flavorful and duck was tender. Awesome experience and awesome night!

I had an elegant, satisfying and delicious meal complimented by outstanding service at the Los Altos Asa. They have a healthy variety of outdoor heaters, so outside dining is most comfortable. Food is outstanding.

Every item including cocktails, appetizer, entree's and dessert was good. Pork chops were excellent. One suggestion to add lamb chops (I am usually not a big fan of pork chops and ordered bec there was no lamb, only chicken on the menu). Service was excellent, as the owner recognized and greeted us as we drove from Dublin to meet our friends who are regulars here.

This is one my favorite Bay area restaurants. The flavors are spot on. I especially love their appetizers: grilled shrimp and jamon are must gets. They have outdoor dining during Covid with lots of heaters
