We have been by here a couple of times and it has never been open. We lucked out today, it was open. They still had all their patriot decorations up. It’s beautiful! You should stop if you’re in the area.

It’s no Eiffel Tower but it is the must see site in Paris Idaho.

We were up visiting the Bear Lake area. I knew that my family had come from this part of the state but I have never taken the opportunity to really explore.

Knowing that my ancestors helped settle this valley I thought it would be neat to stop and see this tabernacle, this monument, that they thought was so important to build it took them five years to finish.

It is a beautiful building, with a lot of history packed into it. The sacrifices they made to build this were amazing. For example, if you zoom in on a picture of the front of the building you will notice that there are different types of brick used above the windows, and as decorative features from there up. The different brick were brought by the different congregations of the LDS church, which at the time went all the way out to Star Valley.

Ok, that wasn’t much of a sacrifice, but it was a show of the dedication that these people had and it is something that makes this building so unique.

The tour was ok. We had three different LDS missionaries guide parts of the tour for us. It did start to get annoying when they asked us the same questions “where you from.” “Are you a member of the church.” But I also know they are just doing what they’re taught to do.

For me, this tour and this building helped me feel closer to my family. Knowing they likely had a hand in helping build the tabernacle, was amazing.

Regardless of having a personal connection or not, I would recommend the tour.

Beautiful example of early Mormon architecture. Friendly staff/missionaries on site. We weren't interested in a guided tour so they let us explore on our own.

We are not religious people at all but we love history. We were able to do a short tour of the place and learn so much history. Very beautiful building rich in history.

Such a great building. Must see if you’re driving by or in the area. I can’t believe the dedication of those who spent 20 years hauling stone via wagon. Amazing.

If you like old buildings or history I would stop and take a quick tour or walk through this amazing building. The lds Church has about 30-40 of these tabernacles through out the world and this one is a treat.

Stopped on our way to bear lake and took a tour of this historical building! The history is fascinating and the tour guide knew all kinds of interesting facts about the area. Tour was about 15-20 minutes. Across the street is a free museum of the towns history and a photo wall dedicated to military service people from the town.

Free Tours are available by a church missionary to take you around pretty much all the interiors. Photos are allowed inside and out. There is a small collection of items near the front entrance that show artifacts of the builders as well as some of the original founders of the town. We were hesitant to visit cause of time but even with the guided tour it was less than 30 mins.

Love the feeling of peace and tranquility here. Many prayers have and songs of prayer have been spoken and sung here. The building is incredibly and well preserved. The original construction was a true labor of love. If your in the area stop by for a free guided tour!

The Tabernacle is open 7 days a week 9:30-5:30 from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend. It is closed for tours on the Fourth of July.

The tour is very beautiful and informative about our pioneer Tabernacle built in 1888.

Do yourself a favor and stop for a tour at this marvelous building in the middle of nowhere. There are (free) guided tours and they do a very nice job. I had no idea there was so much history in this neck of the woods. The grounds are beautiful and well kept.
