Amazing Museum! Visiting from Phonix AZ. The beginning tour is so fun, all of my kids enjoyed it and learned so much. The wagon master was awesome. The light effects, historical items and scenes were great. The gift shop had modern, stylish cute things to buy. I appreciated the lady who helped with the downstairs museum, she gave my young girls and boys items to look for, and helped teach them how to use the old coin cashier.

Definitely worth a visit. Coffee bar and gift shop, amazing artwork and quilt exhibit. The official tour has Hollywood quality representations of a general store and a simulated experience of traveling in a wagon across the trail.

We took our kids aged 5-19 through the tour and they all loved it! It was informational, we could touch and examine the guns and other tools, the wagon ride was interactive and Texas Jeff was great! We also enjoyed meeting with Linda in the basement museum and learning about old trains and cash registers and other interesting artifacts. I would highly recommend!

Amazing place where the settlers wagon trains passed on the way to Oregon. Building was built on the original stop and the dirt inside the interactive display is the actual dirt saved from the original trail, so you can step on the same ground the settlers walked. Interactive tours available. A must stop to learn about history.

Lots of quilts, paintings, historical guns to take your mind off travel for awhile. Nice restrooms and staff. Cookies are homemade and only $1,00 and worth it. Just ask.

It was an interactive experience of the pioneers going on the Oregon Trail in the 1800's. Loved it! Fun and informative.

The tour was closed when we arrived however, John Cook the gentleman that painted the murals gave us a private tour. We had a great time talking with him and learning more about the trail center! Thanks John

A great place to learn some history of how the west began! Have always enjoyed this museum, and being able to take my daughter through was wonderful. The live tour is 100% worth your time, and the items downstairs are worth staring and reading about. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to answer questions and help you figure out what you're looking at/learning about.

Loved it! The tour was great! Just a smidge expensive, but we had a wonderful time-- such an unexpected treat. There is a playground and picnic area outside available, as well as a small gift shop inside. The tour guide did an excellent job answerung my children's questions. Highly recommend it!

Nice little museum where the guides are in period dress and show lots of props and explain the conditions of the time.

It's not cheap to get the full experience at this museum, but very, very worth it. The top floor had a wonderful quilt show at the time, and the basement lots of local artifacts that really gave you a feel for the early European settlers. The paid part of the tour is worth every penny--you get a feeling of what kind of sacrifices these settlers had to make. All set in lovely Montpelier, ID. Well worth the drive--we took an hour and stopped at Fossil Butte Nat Monument on the way home which was also fun.

I can’t believe how GREAT this museum is!!! It’s very interactive. The stories were great! Showing why the settlers walked instead of riding was a great lesson for my daughters. I wish the rifling machine would have been part of the “how they did it” show. I have to give the museum five stars regardless. The curators made the entire visit an experience my daughters talked about in class and years afterwards.
