Lynn View Lodge & Cabins

Car review, not hotel-

We are reluctant, first-time cruisers. We do not enjoy being crammed in shuttles, ships, water taxis, elevators, etc. The freedom renting a car here afforded us was worth every penny!! We were able to explore the beautiful area by ourselves, and on our own schedule. It was like being let out of cruise ship prison!!!

We got a red Subaru, which was parked quite literally across the street from the cruise ship. All communication was done via text and/or email, never even met an actual person. See above and know we didn't mind that. Might have been the most convenient car rental ever. We just dropped it off with a full tank, left the keys in it, and were back in the ship in 10 mins!

The car itself is what I call a Maui (Haines) cruiser, meaning it was dirty, had some dings, cracks, and scuffs... bear scratches, but it gets you where you want to go. It ran fine (had about 45k miles on odometer). Plus, it was super cheap.

There is a lot to see around this area and this might be your best chance of seeing the most. You can even drive to the Canadian border in about an hour. If you want to "get away" from the cruise ship wind-up dolls, this is a great option. Best cruise day yet!

My sister and I went to Haines, Alaska this summer.....our first trip to that beautiful state! We highly recommend the place we selected to stay, Lynn View Lodge. The managers were two very welcoming and accommodating people. The lodge and surrounds were clean and comfortable, and the lodge is well-located....quiet, not far from town, with beautiful views! We were also pleased with the car rental service. Our trip to Alaska was a tremendous success!

Highly recommend. Definitely should try to rent ahead of time to be sure they have a car for you. They are located in a small shop across the street from the pier where it cruise ship docked -very convenient. Upfront information helped make our paperwork time quick with no surprises. Be sure you are insured as they do not offer insurance as an option. We had a Mazda tribute in great condition which was very comfortable for the 4 of us but could also seat 5. Unlimited mileage, pleasant owners. Shop where you pick up the rental also houses items made by local Haines artisans. Owners provided some good information about the local areas - what to possibly see bear and moose, jumping salmon as they were everywhere when we went end of August. Can't say enough. To think we were almost going to pay twice as much through a brand name rental agency before finding Lynn's.

I didn't stay at Lynn View but did rent two vehicles from them for a week and the whole process couldn't have been better. The rates were extremely competitive compared to other places in town, and they even had the cars waiting for us at the ferry dock when we landed. On our ferry out, we were allowed to leave them at the ferry dock again and they would come pick them up later. I highly recommend them for affordable car rentals while in Haines.

Highly recommend. The view is breathtaking and the service is top notch. Miranda takes great effort to ensure a comfortable and welcoming stay. Rental vehicles are exceptional and all wheel drive which is a must in Haines. Very pleased and will definitely come back.

Haines is a mesmerizing place and this is a great spot to stay when visiting. We stayed in the Dolphin apartment which was quiet and private, it was nice to have a place with a full kitchen and it accommodated our family of 4 comfortably. Looking forward to staying there again one day.

Very clean and conveniently placed between the ferry and town. Picturesque location seems to be very secluded, though just around the corner is downtown. Separate cabins with view of the channel from the sliding glass door. Kitchenette for those cosey nighttime food raids.

We had a fantastic week in Haines at the Lynn View Lodge. Killeen and Brad took great care to make sure our stay was one to remember. Car rentals on site were convenient and affordable.

Great place to stay when in Haines. Miranda is very friendly and helpful, rooms and cabin are lovely and affordable. Great location to see the northern lights as well!

Great rooms for a better price than the hotels in town. Wifi is provided free and fast enough for general browsing.

Miranda is a great hostess. Good atmosphere, very clean and compfy.

Beautiful location and super people.

Nice house plenty of space one of the best in Haines although it has some flaws it worked great. It has a view of the canal but is not on the water although it is very close. The host is nice and is very responsive but it needs some yard work ie many weeds in gardens and a very very long unmowed lawn that has to be walked through. Overall it is a great place to stay in Haines.
