Great park. Fun to see wildlife in the park. We have seen the typical deer and ground squirrel but also fox. Visiting is always nice, close enough to walk into the little town and Joseph is not too far to drive for a special meal. The marina is an option to keep a boat when camping instead of crowding the campsite. Win, win.

Beautiful place. Lots of hiking in area. Picnic areas, boating and more. Boat ramp at park, can fish or just enjoy scenery. There is at times lots of snow in area so be sure to check locally. Some photos are from north end of lake. Have a great time.

Went camping here with my family in late May. The camping site was big enough for two tents, a camper and a place for our volleyball net. Such a beautiful area! Camped here once as a kid many years ago and it’s still a great area! Wild life (gophers, chip munks, etc) are nice to have around your campsite as well. Lake is always gorgeous as is. There was plenty of trees too so we could have our dogs tied up as well. There’s the go carts, mini golf course, and gift shops and everything close but as well. The lake is just a short walk. Great prices! Can’t wait to go back!

Had a short stay at this cool little State Park snuggled up to a small range of cool mountains. I can imagine that the locals, who are avid mountain climbers, really get out and adventure through the range.

Managed to get out and see some cool scenes, lots of diving ducks, bald eagles, osprey, the Aurora Borealis on one night and some cool landscapes.
Aurora Borealis was captured on my Iphone Long exposure 30 seconds.

Great place to escape to. The lake has many options for rentals and swimming area. There are some great hikes, highly recommend going to BC falls. The amenities at the State Park are more than adequate and fantastic.

Great park, clean and stocked bathrooms. Campsites offer zero privacy but all campers were respectable and not loud. I felt like my belongs was safe durning the day when I was gone, as staff is always around. No camp fires were aloud and all fire pits were taped over. No annoying animals trying to get into everything on Labor Day weekend. Verizon had barely any service but if you drive a mile up the road along the lake you get cell reception.

Our first time here and we loved it. Nestled back in the rocky terrain leaves you surrounded by close up giant peaks of several large mountains right from your camp site. Having a playground and large field in the middle of the park was extremely handy if you're a family with young kids. The Wallowa lake is a good size and they offer rentals for paddle boats, small fishing boats and paddle boards at a pretty reasonable price. If you're looking for more, within a 5 minute drive you have several local places to eat and a handful of entertainment for the family like mini golf and go carts. If you're looking for more scenery type action the tram to the top of the mountains is an unbeatable option especially being so close to camp as well (3 minute drive). The camp hosts and rangers were all nice and hospitable and the facilities were about as well kept as they could be. Cleaned constantly and always supplied with paper products. There were even some residential deer that would casually walk through camp and even right up to people. Cheap firewood and ice were easily accessible and the little market nearby had almost any essential you forgot. They also had very nice facilities to shower in that seemed nicer than some motel's. All together it was a very enjoyable stay and I highly recommend this campground for everyone young, old, family, single, experienced, new, rv or tent this place has something for everyone and is definitely worth the drive! We can't wait to go back.

Well organized and relatively clean camping sites next to the Wallowa River and Lake. Beautiful mountains surround the state park. There are a few restaurants and a store within walking distance too.

Lovely spot for a stay with few corporate chains in town. Chief Joseph’s grave is at the north end of the lake, another attraction to this wonderful place.

Husband and I camped here mid October and it was great! The few campers there were in RVs. We tent camped and it wasnt too cold. Fires were allowed, they sell firewood for $5/box and have dollies you can use to bring the wood to your site. The restrooms and showers are VERY nice and well kept. There are 3 trails from the trailhead. Make sure to read the board, there's important information to know before you go.

Fishing, Camping, hiking, site seeing, dog friendly and Clean. Walking distance to most things. I was skeptical about the price of the tram but it was worth it. Great vacation spot.

Highly recommend the group sites! The tents that are located throughout the camp are very close together and kind of questionable during the covid pandemic. That said, if you're willing to pay $75 a night, you can get access to one of three large group sites directly next to Wallowa River with mountain views and a separate bathroom that is well-kept and convenient. Unlike some camps, the host are respectful and give you your space to relax and rejuvenate.

The hikes are intense and absolutely worth it. Highly recommend checking out the hike to Ice Lake. You can stop early and still see about 50 perfectly picturesque scenes that will stay on your mind forever.

This is a beautiful natural area full of wildlife and a lot of hungry scavenger deer, who can be a bit obtrusive! 😜 Make sure you have something that will allow you to put your food/trash bag in a safe container when you're not around!

At night, the wind will sweep down the mountain and across the river flowing through your campsite. Make sure you have rope to secure the tent so that you're not listening to the walls billowing all night. Recommend bringing some sweatpants and a sweatshirt and probably a raincoat too.

Have fun! This is an amazing location with awe inspiring views and opportunities for outdoor sports of many kinds.

My family has been visiting Wallowa Lake state park since I was a little kid. If you’re coming from Portland or Eugene it is a long long drive but worth it if you’re staying a week or longer.

The lake is picturesque and because it’s an older campground the camp sites are more open than newer parks. Lots of wildlife to be seen including bears, deer, and chipmunks.

Such a beautiful part of NE Oregon! My husband grew up around this area, and although I'm a native Oregonian, I've never had the chance to experience Joseph and Wallowa Lake. Would seriously consider moving to the area. The fishing was fun, swimming amazing, public docks for basing all of your lake day fun and fantastic hiking! Soooooo worth the 6 hour drive. Planning our return trip already.

Probably one of the most beautiful campgrounds I’ve stayed at! It’s super family friendly, had a massive play area for the kids.

They sell wood onsite for $5 a wheelbarrow which was really convenient. It’s right next to a river and the lake, so relaxing hearing all the water run by. Can’t wait to camp here again!!

Love the area, had a great time canoeing, got some great photos from places all along the lake, the mountains in the back drop are amazing especially in the sunsets, the local Cafe is amazing for the area, although the cabins are not cheap I would overall very much recommend this place.

Did kayak and spent almost three hours, enjoyed and collected good moments with my friends which will last forever. Crystal clear and cold water from the mountains will make you feel like a heaven.

We stayed at Lake Wallowa Campground recently and it was a really nice place to stay! It's really pretty but it's a busy campground, so keep that in mind. We stayed in our trailer in the C Loop with full hook-ups, it was quieter in that area. There are lots of things to do and many hiking trails in the hills. A waterfall is located behind the A and B Loop. You will be climbing up some hiking trails to reach that one. There are several deer that frequent the campsites and are pretty friendly. Still, I don't advise to approach them. There were not many people out in the water since it's June, but I can see where it would be really refreshing once the temperatures get hotter. Many people brought kayaks to paddle around the lake. That looked like a lot of fun! The bathrooms were kept up by the parks department were pretty clean. Right outside the campgrounds you will find a country store if you need any campsite supplies or food. There are a couple of restaurants in the area too. Along with that, there are mini golf courses, bumper boats, go kart track, and a gondola. Each have different costs. Internet and cell phone service is non-existant at the campground. You will need to drive 4 miles back to the town of Joseph for any internet or cell service. The town of Joseph had 2 gas stations along with bars, restaurants, shopping and stores. It was quite nice! We will be going back again next year since we had a really good time!
