Amy (manager) was very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were very clean and confortable. It’s a older building but they have made so many updates. If you have stayed at Kure before you know this establishment has been here a long time. Loved that we could walk right out back to beach and park. We will stay here many more times.

Perfect place for a weekend of relaxation. Amy is great ,we will definitely come back!

If I could rate this motel. I would rate it a 10. Comfortable and clean and Couldn't have asked for nicer people than Amy and Woody! Love those folks. If ever in the area, I would highly recommend By The Pier!!!!!

Love the location of this hotel, a lot of things were within walking distance. The swings by the beach were right outside the hotel. The management was really nice. The room was nice as well and probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. The bathroom was just a little small and so was the shower. And there is only one ground level room, the "first" floor was up two flights of stairs, wasn't really a problem but I know some people can't use stairs. The prices were pretty fair too, especially with going during busy season and there was no hidden fees.

Such a great and awesome place to stay! Right on the beach and the rates are wonderful! Always something to smile about! The rooms are spacious and decorated aesthetically. It has a great couple who runs it! This is the hotel/motel to stay at when you come to visit! I couldn’t be more happy with our stay! Even during quarantine, the hotel had the best and most important care that helped make our experience even better! This hotel/motel is very underrated and you should definitely book a stay!

Love loved loved staying here! The room are comfortable. Amy and her staff are amazing! The hospitality phenomenal! We didn't want to leave. Thank you so much for making my daughter Casey's 14th birthday so special. We will be back again...Im also recommending this wonderful motel to all my friends! Instead of 5 stars...it needs to be 10!

This place was perfect for a last minute getaway with the husband. Very clean, amazing location right across the street from the pier and friendly staff. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town. 😊

This was our first time staying here and we will never stay anywhere else at Kure Beach!! The owner is by far one of the nicest people I have ever met. She was so helpful with check-in and so welcoming. Very clean room and up to date. The view is amazing as well.

Love this motel!! The location right beside the pier is advantageous to say the least--the owners are friendly, down to earth, helpful. The room we had was great after coming from a bad motel experience farther north. Small bath--with a great walk in shower. Thanks to the owners for making this hillbilly family from the western mtns. feel the Salt Life--if I ever make it back this place is on the top of my list for lodging!

I love this motel! Amy, Woody and Beth are the most down to earth and welcoming people I have every met. Nice, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms. It is within walking distance of everything. If you decide to stay here you will definitely make a return visit. The hospitality is amazing! Love you guys! See you again soon!

Simple and clean place to stay. Location is very convenient and loved the boat playground for kids. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, makes you feel right at home. 10/10 will definitely be back.

No doubt 5/5 stars! If you're looking for a quick getaway, this is the place! It's in a perfect location, and really lives up to the name "by the pier"! Amy was amazing and helped us find attractions to visit and shop at while staying. My boyfriend and I will definitely be coming back!

This place is an absolute delight. Very clean rooms lead to a pleasant rest. The view of the beach from the rooms is ok but access is phenomenal. You can walk barefoot through a lovely city green that has a playground and event pavilion to the beach. Distance can't be more than 500 feet. You could throw a football from our room's front door and hit no less than 10 restaurants. The pier is very close as is the gift shop. There is also a mini-mart where you can stock up on snack and beach needs. Short drive or bike ride to Fort Fisher and the Aquarium. Amy from the front desk called us to confirm our arrival and let us check in early. She greeted us when we arrived and made us feel like family. We then ran into her working later on at the pier.

This is that quaint ocean-front feeling that is missing in the giant resorts. Good beach spots, good food, no chain-hotel nonsense, and reasonable rates. I would rate this higher than 5 if I could!

Amy is absolutely amazing and helpful! Every time I would see her she would greet me with kindness and would constantly see if we needed anything and how everything was. Their is just something about supporting a local businesse that makes your experience better. The motel it also right by the pier and within walking distant to the dinner and a cute coffee shop. Such a great weekend and loved being within walking distance from food and the beach!

Our stay at the By the Pier Motel, although it was a short one, showcased the owner/manager's generosity and accomodating nature. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to make our stay as great as possible.

The room was fine, and I was surprised to hear it was one that was slated for renovation, as it seemed pretty modern as is.

The motel is in a great location, right next to a large fishing pier as well as a few restaurants and conveniences.

I can't recommend this enough to anyone looking for a stay on Kure Beach!

I've stayed at several places in and around Kure Beach, and they all have been very pleasant. But the fine folks (Woody & Amy) at By The Pier are, as my very British aunt would say, "the flag on the Knickerbocker of Glory." They raised the lodgings bar with their warmth and grace, and made it even more difficult to end our stay in this wonderful seaside village. Not to worry, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy, we shan't be long in returning. Keep a light on for us.

We spent several nights and will go back. The staff did everything possible to make our stay a great experience. Rooms were spotless, bed were very comfortable. We could walk​ to Pier, restaurant and convenient store. I cannot say enough about how great the staff was!!!

Walking distance to the pier. Operated by a very nice and friendly couple. If you stay any days Mon-Fri you get a free fishing pass. The rooms are very clean and comfy. A great place to stay.

Mrs. Amy the representative here at motel has been super nice very helpful in a very delightful person to be around. The rooms are very clean and more of a homie feeling than a regular motel or hotel stay. The parking lot is safe with video surveillance all around and it's a nice community here.
