Crab Shack on the James

I ordered the appetizer stuffed shrimp with jalapeño cheese, and it tasted very good and wasn't spicy at all. I enjoyed the classic burger, which was cooked perfectly to my liking. I will definitely come back again to try the crab dip next time.

This was my first time eating at this establishment. My fiancé and I really enjoyed ourselves. Nice view of you of the James River. Our server was really nice and professional. The food was delicious and fresh.

Our server was fun, good timing for everything, attention was good, view was great too. Late Lunch was on point today we got the blackened salmon sandwich and the grilled salmon on greens and the oysters Rockefeller for appetizer. All delicious. Got the Malibu colada and it was refresher on a steamy hot day today. Highly recommended to visit this place.

The best chicken sandwich I've had in the last decade hands down. Hats off to David Smith for showing me the place and will be returning to try more of the menu.

This was our first time eating here and it was amazing! We absolutely loved the food. Our waitress was friendly along with the other staff. That being said there are three things they could improve on 1 being the stall doors in the women's bathroom do not stay shut bc they don't lock, 2 the outside tables are extremely sticky bc of the laqur on them and 3 when u order drinks from the bar at a table it takes forever to get your drink and when my husband told the bar tender she said you get drinks quicker if you sit at the bar bc that's the benefit of eating at the bar. But all in all it was still worth the money.

I have been visiting this restaurant when I'm in the area for approximately seven years. I'm so glad they made it through the pandemic. This restaurant checks all the marks. The view is amazing on the outside pier. The infused cocktails were excellent. I always get the slaw with whatever I order. It is the most simple, basic slaw recipe but it is the absolute tastiest slaw I have ever had. It's like they perfected basic and went with it. But it says a lot for the business because I think they try to do the things they do well. The servers are always friendly. I had to find the location again because I was never the driver so I never paid attention. But this time I have found it, imbedded the name in my memory, and I will be visiting often.

Just an all around nice experience from the food to the service to the view in the outdoor seating area.

Anytime I travel to this area, I always have dinner here one of the nights during my stay. Fresh seafood, excellent service and great atmosphere! Fantastic views at sunset!

Great overall experience...food was fantastic! Crab legs were extremely fresh and some of the best I've had in this area. They also had Cobia on the menu!!! It was excellent. Not only that, we had unexpected guest...there was a large pod of dolphins right on the James. The attached images do not even come close to doing the experience justice...but I gave it shot!

It has great view. You can see the ocean. It smells clean.

Always a great experience. Service was a little slow this night but all in all the food was good. We were a large party of 13 people on a Sunday evening after the beach. We love coming here afterwards. Fresh seafood and hot plates!

Good choice of menu options for the family the shrimp jammers and the crab dip were fantastic. The shack burger was pretty good had decent amount of crab on it. I would recommend this to everyone. The views are nice especially around sunset. They have a bridge you can go out on and fish for $10 a person.

1st time there, my wife's 2nd time there. Great atmosphere, sitting on the James River. Plenty of seafood, I had the fried shrimp and oyster platter. Very good, just like I like it. My wife had several appetizers, fried oysters, stuffed mushrooms, and She Crab soup. All was great! We took lots of pictures as the scenery was awesome, sun setting, etc. We will definitely go back, highly recommend!

Wanted to try something different , went around 3pm on a Friday, with my daughter and uncle, definitely recommend , crab shack has something for all age groups! Definitely recommend the hush puppies and enjoyed the crabcake sandwich with slaw! Anna was our waitress, she's very attentive and nice!

Great experience! Was taken here by Hampton natives and the food was good. I ordered the oysters and shrimp. Although I initially didn't think it was enough food, I quickly was full!

Late lunch on the water with my husband. Food was wonderful, perfectly cooked. Seafood tasted fresh and lightly breaded, which is just how we like it. New waitress in town was so sweet and very good at her job. Very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. Drinks were fantastic. The view at this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommend!

Good, fast service. Food came out quickly and our server kept up with the table well. The view outside is beautiful and the food was great!

We had a large group, and then a tour bus showed up. The service was excellent, despite the number of people. Excellent food & the view of the river & the bridge lift was amazing.

We sat at a lovely Back Porch dining area overloooking the James River. The cocktail menu was varied and we settled on the Lavendar Lemonade. We definitely made a good choice. We had the Tuna Bites for appetizer, soft shell crab and crab cake for our entrees. Chloe was attentive and very helpful with our selections. Definitely will return.

What can I say from the time I made my reservations to communicating people going everything was amazing. Manager that I spoke with and I'm so sorry I can't remember her name she was outstanding I would recommend this place too in it and everybody the food was delicious the service was outstanding I could go on and on
