Moran Motel

Rooms are small, but clean. Fridge and microwave are bigger than the high dollar hotels. Close to EVERYTHING!! Pier, beach, restaurants, shopping. Pool is clean and guessing 16x32. Will definitely stay again when in the area! Owners and staff are friendly and most helpful.

Very well placed with easy access to the back and pier. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. We will be back.

i was visiting Kure Beach for the Cape Fear KiteFest 2023

The Moran was the closest i found to Ft Fisher & it turned out it was midway between the friday night event & Sat/Sun festivities

i went down to ft fisher early & the event was already crowded with scarce parking. i parked at the monument & walked down the beach. it was fun seeing the big kites but i had my own to fly & i really wanted more room without a long walk

the beach out front of The Moran was inviting & kept calling my name

as it turned out
there were LOTS of visitors that walked down from the pier & others that saw my kites above the hotels as they were stuck in traffic & came to visit on their trek to Ft Fisher

i VERY MUCH enjoyed the staff & crew at The Green Hotel & enjoyed my visit. If i can make next year's event, i will definitely try to book at The Moran AGAIN

No it's not the most up-to-date, but my kids and I had a great time. Pool was clean room was clean. Staff were very friendly and kind. Met other guests there and we just had a blast by the pool. Walking distance to the beach, pier, arcade, ice cream, store, and restaurant. I didn't have to waste gas, that was a plus.

This is the first time I’ve ever stayed at a motel, so I had to get used to the size. We first stayed in a room with two beds. I had to get used to not having a sink in the bathroom and just having to pull stuff out only when I needed it. However, who goes on vacation to hang out in their motel, right? It’s perfect for having an affordable place to crash & shower AND, most importantly, be able to WALK to the beach! Plus it was clean and they replaced our towels/washcloths/soap and made our beds daily. I also love that each room has two chairs outside it with a clean ashtray built into the wall. Speaking of the walls, they are cement so I rarely heard anything unless it was literally right outside the door. We decided on staying a few extra nights, so since our room was already booked, they gave us a great deal on a bigger room with a kitchen, which was awesome! One of my favorite things was the pool! It is clean, has a slide (although it goes into the shallow end, so be careful adults😉), and I didn’t see any signs prohibiting alcohol 😁! My only complaint is that the first room we were in did not have a coffee pot. We had brought a few simple breakfast items, but we ended up going out to breakfast cause we needed coffee! Other than that, everything else was great!

We really enjoyed our weekend getaway here. The room what very clean and just what we needed for a couple nights. The staff were friendly and we even met some people that live close to us. We would definitely stay again. It is in a great location with beach access just a few steps away, and places to eat, stores and even had a beachside church service within walking distance on Sunday morning! Recommend for a weekend fun stay!

First time coming here..the rooms/beds were pretty clean..new appliances..parking is pretty tight..and the toilet and sink in the bathroom were backed up...great motel if you wanna walk to the beach in 2 seconds!

Great for the price. Room is clean with over sized mini fridge, microwave and tv. Our room had a queen size bed that had clean sheets. I saw reviews that the room smelled musty but it is a motel by the sea. The humidity will make anything smell a bit musty, bring your own Fabreez. The bathroom is small but modern. The towels are clean and fresh. I haven't met the staff yet other than at check in. The room even had its own broom to help you if you track in sand from the beach.

It was our first stay at Kure beach. I’m so glad that I actually called this place. Lucky I called. The lady who answered the phone call was so nice and helped me. My little family enjoyed our three night getaway. We needed it much. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone or everyone. The ladies who took care of the place does a great job and would bring new towels in. The rooms was clean and neat which made us feel like we were at home. The employees are friendly and very helpful and very respectful. It’s a short walk to the beach. I would definitely bring my little family back to this place. ❤

Not on the beach but very short walk. Nice, cozy! The hotel is not right on the beach but it’s on a short walk and it’s nice to have that walk to get some of the sand off your shoes and clothes. The hotel is very nicely appointed for it a 2-3 star hotel. The fixtures in the room and mostly done new. It was clean and very well-kept. We had a refrigerator and microwave in the room as well. The pool looks nice and clean and inviting, we didn’t have a chance to try it out. I would definitely stay here again!

The location was perfect, beach access is right next to hotel. They replaced our towels and trash everyday. The owners are really nice. The beach is great. They have good beds with enough blankets. The AC works well and the bathroom is nice. I will stay here again next year!

Walking distance to pretty much everything you need for a small weekend getaway!! I've been coming to this beach since I was a kid. This is where I always stay when I just want a clean beachy place for a quiet weekend!!!

I would highly recommend this place.Beach view is beautiful, food and restaurants are within walking distance.The area is phenomenal there's plenty to do in the area.

We were looking for something different other than hotel and that too near to beach and we found this moran motel . It was just perfect for a small 2-days vacation near to kure beach.
Though this was my first ever stay in any motel within US; but i was not disappointed.
Location was perfect though the ambience was not but still satisfied our need of staying closer to beach and Ferry terminal. Wish the bathroom could be little bigger as it was very hard for a healthy person to sneek in but overall no one can beat this location.

The key to enjoying your stay at this motel is managing your own expectations. This is a lovely and ideal place to stay, if you are realistic and do your research.

If you are coming to the beach for a swanky ritz-carlton experience where you spend all of the time in the room luxuriating in all the opulent amenities, then this is not the place for you and you are doing both the motel and yourself a disservice by not acknowledging that your expectations are unrealistic. Nowhere in their pictures or reviews should you expect a property like that. If you are, you are looking in the wrong price range. Again, manage your expectations.

HOWEVER: If you are looking for a charming, nostalgic and quaint place to rest when not in the beautiful outdoors enjoying the breathtaking surf, great shops and restaurants, nearby boardwalk, etc. then you will throughly enjoy your stay. This place will probalby remind you of childhood summers spent making memories with your family, having the time of your lives. Yes there are painted cinderblock walls and 1950's knotty pine paneling (real wood by the way), some dated fixtures etc. Know what the kids call that today? Creating a VIBE! If you've ever watched an episode of Supernatural, this is a hotel where you would find Sam and Dean Winchester staying on any given night. It is a snapshot in time. It is small, simple but clean.
This is what you should expect, and you will love it.

If you're a Karen looking for a foot rub in the spa while your poodle get's a mani-pedi, you should filter your Expedia search a little more carefully. Manage your expectations and be kind to the staff. Heather at the desk is friendly and accommodating. Of course they're not going to respond like Mr. Rogers if you're in their face acting entitled and incensed. How would you feel?
I'll wrap this up by saying, you guessed it, manage your expectations and you will love this place.

As usual, a great stay at Moran Motel. If you're looking for a reasonable motel that's clean with basic amenities, it's the one. The pool is well tended and located behind the property for privacy. It has a slide for the kids. There is an outdoor eating area with picnic tables and propane grills provided. Each room has two chairs outside of the room to relax and catch the ocean breeze. The ocean is visible from the hotel and a quick walk across the street. It's close enough to hear the waves. It's also a short walk to the pier and a couple restaurants (less than 5 minutes). We look to returning soon!

The motel is a little dated but super cute. Very clean and the service was great. There was an odor in the room maybe the carpet got wet from flooding our something. But wasn't to bad. We will definitely be staying again.

This was great for spending the night at the beach! Staff was friendly and checkin was quick, the room was just big enough while still having a good sized microwave, tv, and fridge. Bathroom was a wee bit compact (but given the good price and location it's understandable) and the showers have the best water pressure I've ever experienced in my young life (We're talking back massage level pressure). Everything was clean and cool, and the location was superb. I'd definitely recommend to a friend or stay again.

The MORAN Motel (not Miranda's) is a classic. While old, the rooms are clean and the location is great. You can walk to several restaurants, a coffee shop, a bar, the pier, a convenience store, and the beach. It's the closest place to Fort Fisher and the price is very fair even at peak season. It's not fancy, but it has charm!

Location on the website says beachfront, it's a bit misleading but the beach is only a five minute walk away. The room we stayed in had a full kitchen and full-size fridge, big cabinets, and the biggest microwave I've ever seen. Pool had a slide, but the pool wasn't very big. Had a great stay there .
