I think this is a very beautiful place to be to take a look around the Shenandoah Valley and take a look at the Fall Foliage and the beautiful colors the leaves have turned and would highly suggest people to come and take a visit while the colors are still here because being in an atmosphere of The Great Outdoors is very relaxing and will relieve you of a lot of stress. It is a place I love to go and do freelance photography at and I have a free lifetime pass to any national park in America since I have a disability and if you have a disability you are able to sign up for one also instead of paying a fee every time you come to the park.

October 30th. Last time for a fall season trip with my family and here inside the national park are in little over the peak of leaves 🍁🍁🍂🍂. Cliff was right next to the pull out. Great spot for any fun pictures.Just be careful.

Obviously from the photos we hit Franklin Cliffs Overlook when there was heavy fog. However, we could still get a good look at the area and what we could see, it was amazing.

We had planned on accessing the Appalachian Trail from Franklin Cliffs Overlook, but we ended up turning around and parking at Fishers Gap parking area, just a few hundred yards south, due to a closed off section (The overlook parking area was still open for viewing). The reason for the closure were nesting Peregrine Falcons. We joined the AT and headed north. Along this stretch relatively flat section are several rocky outcroppings affording the same view as the overlook parking area, but with a more secluded feel. Along one spot of the AT, when the Mountain Laurel is blooming, it forms a beautiful white and pink tunnel. You can also see the box where the Peregrine Flacons are and if you listen carefully you can pinpoint their location and may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse. If you look to the north from the large boulder at the northern end of the overlook you can also see the box. We were lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time and got to talk with some of the Park Rangers who facilitate the needs and safety of the falcons.

There are lots of overlooks along Skyline Drive, and Franklin Cliffs has one of the best views.

Walk down the path a little bit from overlook for the "cliff" experience. Just don't let a bear push you off.

We took my Son's cremains there to release him.
The overlook is magnificent!
The view is of a bustling valley below, with wide open sky.
Absolutely gorgeous!

" You only have to open your eyes to see the hands of God." Visit any place on earth 🌎 looks spectacular and wonder of nature.the calmness ,peace ,stillness ,quietness ,brings satisfaction & relief . Everything looks pale to a jaundice eye .

EVERYONE you meet is your mirror . .the actual thing about these outings ,excursion ,trips ,scenic views brings a message .it conveys a hidden message .same way as special winds blow just moments before rain .Same way, nature speaks ,talks if you talk .visiting historical places ,opens mind to ponder that the past berries many memories of many who were masterminds ,think tanks ,giants ,monsters ,dragons ,or HULKS ,are all gone .the place remains to remind ,refresh new visitors .

Gorgeous. A nice terrace-like rock area below the parking area is great for taking in the sights.

Great views 👏. Very crowded. 1st time we ever visited the drive on a weekend. Usually much more enjoyable during the week without the weekend crowds

SNP is, hands down, the best way for persons of all ages and physical abilities to enjoy the outdoors. If you can drive from vista to vista, it’s beautiful; if you can day hike a trail to a summit, it’s beautiful; if you can hike from campground to campground, it’s beautiful; There are trails for all physical abilities.
