The Green Monkey

Recently we had our wedding reception at The Green Monkey. Downstairs they have an events space. This was perfect for our group of friends and family. It’s intimate and yet plenty of space to move around. They had high top seating and Rusty made sure our guests didn’t go thirsty.

Their new location in the heart of downtown is perfect for a private party and also to just visit and have a drink. Also there are a lot of fun and unique gifts on the main floor. There is an outdoor space that’s great on a nice day for guests to also gather and enjoy some fresh air.

You will always feel welcome at the monkey. It’s diverse and has a great selection of local and craft beers. They also have a unique selection of wines.

Very cool, local craft bar for a chill/cozy time. Lots of good/cool knickknacks, souvenir, local product type of gifts. Definitely a good spot to grab a drink and a potential gift for people visiting. LGBTQIA+ super friendly, definitely give this spot a try

I was there last Saturday for the Dolly Parton show, went back again last night for trivia night and had an absolute BLAST!! Love this place. The owners are great and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. I felt very welcomed and met great people here. DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK!!

Wanting cute, eclectic, and fun with a bar, this is your spot! I got the warmest welcome from Drew as I walked by, and he invited me in. I was quickly taken in by all the cute and funky socks, cards, cups, and other items floating around the store. As you go to the back, it opens up to a bar with wine and beer for sale and to sip. I grabbed a can of cider and was told to come back anytime.

The owners made me feel at home and were so happy that I was walking around downtown. I plan to return the next time I am in the area. Would love to sit and have a drink with them! A must go to in downtown Raleigh!!!

My husband and I love The Green Monkey! We come there a couple of times a week, usually in the evening and have never felt threatened or unsafe. Parking is very convenient, there is a city parking garage practically next door! And Rusty and Drew are awesome proprietors and just a joy to know!

Big thanks to Rusty and Drew for allowing us to rent The Green Monkey Fellowship Hall. We successfully hosted a fiesta wedding party. The fellowship hall easily held 30 guest. Hannah kept everyone beverages topped off the entire night. The margarita’s were perfection! The sound equipment and Led color changing lights took the event to the next level. Consider the Fellowship Hall for your next event you will not be disappointed!

Where do I start with this fun, quirky, LGBTQIA+ friendly neighborhood bar and gift shop? My partner and I have been following The Green Monkey, since their beginning days at the Raleigh Flea Market in 2007. It was one of the first openly inclusive spaces I found when I first moved to Raleigh.

The co-owners Rusty and Drew are some of the most friendly people you'll ever meet and will always greet you with a smile. They take the time to learn your name and genuinely learn about their customers.

Aside from the amazing owners, the atmosphere is bright, cheery, and FUN! They have an amazing selection of bottled beer, wine, and a great tap selection. The have reward loyalty program where you earns points per visit to the store or online with a minimum $5 purchases. Your points really add up over time. The gift shop contains novelties, games, apparel, and many items that are locally crafted (which I really appreciate.) They host trivia, bingo, movie nights, and drag shows, so you'll always have something fun to do solo or with your friends.

Did I mention this place is dog-friendly? This final note seals the deal for me, knowing I can bring my four-legged friend to enjoy The Green Monkey Family with me.

The Green Monkey is a great place to grab a sip n stroll drink, hang out, or pick up some gifts. You won't find nicer people or a more welcoming atmosphere anywhere!

What a fun place! Love the new setup, especially the downstairs area, perfect for BINGO, karaoke or other events. Plus, Rusty and Drew are the best!!

Rusty and Drew have moved their precious local establishment to S Wilmington Street, and it is a huge upgrade! The new space is beautiful, complete with 2-stories, professional sound system and an outside lounge. But, IYKYK, so I'm not spilling any more beans. Check it out....you will not be disappointed!

One of the most welcoming and friendly bars in Raleigh. Rusty and Drew have done a phenomenal job and its no wonder they have had 10 successful years! This place is both family and LGBT friendly.

This is the colorful hidden gem in Raleigh you've been looking for! Part gift shop (with NC/local artists and vendors), part wine shop (ask them about their monthly wine club!), part bottle shop, and all inclusive and welcoming! If you are looking to be a part of a community, this space will have you feel safe belonging! LGBTQ+ affirming

My go-to beer bar. Fun themed nights keep it interesting. Locally owned by a very friendly/lovable (Rusty and Drew) gay couple, so it goes without saying this is a very LGBTQ+ friendly bar ( which Raleigh needs very desperately) they only serve beer for now, and offer an eclectic gift shop. Very friendly clientele/regulars.

The owners and patrons were extremely friendly and welcoming. Loved having a quick drink while looking at some fun gift items. Also loved the little slice of home with the Gansett Lager!

I love The Green Monkey! They sponsor our Stonewall Running Group and we gather there every Tuesday and Thursday night. Rusty and Drew are so kind, and the vibe is very welcoming and fun. Not only can you enjoy a nice beer there (and wine), but there are great gifts you can pick up for just about any occasion. One of a kind gifts, for sure!
