My partner and I had dinner on Christmas Day in the dining room. I cannot speak to the hotel but the restaurant was great and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our server was Liz, she was super professional and provided excellent service. We both chose from the four course dinner. Everything was good but the two dishes that really stood out was the smoked trout and salmon appetizer as well as the crab cake entree. Would definitely visit again for dinner and plan on making it a regular Christmas tradition from now on.

We drove an 1 1/2 hrs to eat lunch there. It was worth the trip. The food is great. The Server was good and we have never had a bad meal there.
The grounds are well taken care of.
We have not stayed there in some time but it was always a great place to stay.
Keep up the great work.

Came back to the restaurant after 21 years. My wife and I had our first date here in 2002. Have been wanting to come back for quite a few years now and decided this was the year since we just celebrated 20 years and it was also the wife's birthday. We now live in NW Ohio so haven't been back past here in all those years.
We found the food and service to be excellent. Josh was a good waiter. The restaurant was clean, the food was amazing and the Old World charm is neat.
We had the crab dip for a starter, the Sauerkraut Garnished and the crab cakes. All were excellent. If you're looking for a classy, quiet place to enjoy a meal with your significant other, the Bavarian Inn restaurant is a sure win!

A really wonderful and romantic place with a lovely dinner in the restaurant. A nice experience also with the staff in particular Miss Faith who looked after my dinner impeccably. I will definitely return to this splendid location, recommended!

We went for restaurant week. The menu and food were amazing. I would highly recommend the Brussel Sprouts, they were not like any I had ever had. The Pork Shank with Polenta was really tasty. Can't wait to go back!

We didn't stay at the Inn, but my son & I enjoyed the restaurant.
The food was FABULOUS. We sought it out because it is German cuisine. And this is great, genuine German food.

I highly recommend this for a wonderful German dining experience.

The Inn looks traditional and delightful.

My family and I stayed here for a long weekend in January. Needless to say, we loved it and I’ve already booked our return visit in February because it is that special! The food was terrific, beer, awesome, and everyone is so friendly! The owners are around and are very nice! Loved the grab and go breakfast for Sunday checkout. Someone noted the main dining room felt it could use an update. I respectfully disageee. It has beautiful windows, so not a bad spot in the house. The tables are spacious and it is quieter than the other eating areas. It snowed during breakfast and I felt like I was in a snow globe. Ps the pancakes are delish! Great experience. Definitely want to return in the summer! Ps for kid friendly options, bring some toys, explore Rumsey park and the nearby playground, and have fun shopping downtown. They had a kids menu and gave my daughter crayons and coloring book (also the kids menu) each night and a to go cup.

Just stopped in for dinner. No reservation was seated right away. It has grown since we were there last. Very nice casual dining area. Food was first rate as usual. Going to be a regular spot from now on

We had a flight of beers and a few tastings and then some food afterwards in the beautiful restaurant. Lots of fun, high quality beer and food and a gorgeous location.

We ate at the restaurant. There are lots of seating options inside and outside. Great drink selection and appetizers and food. Pictured is a cheese and crab stuffed hot pretzel with amazing mustard and sauce. There was a fire pit to sit at after dinner and a lovely sitting area overlooking the mountains and river.

The Bavarian Inn, Resort and Brewing Company is an interesting destination: although we only availed ourselves of the restaurant, we enjoyed our time at The Bavarian Inn.
We were meeting with friends who live in the area, and who suggested we go to The Bavarian Inn. We were early, and were seated immediately. We were impressed that our waitress showed a great deal of understanding as members of our drifted in. The last member of the group was over an hour late. During the entire time our waitress ensured that we would be taken care of, and we did not feel rushed.
One of our early arrivals suggested we try the Curried Crab Soup: it was excellent, and proved to be the perfect way to fend off imminent starvation.
When our party was fully assembled my wife got the Wiener Schnitzel, which she enjoyed, other members of our party got Jaeger Schnitzel and Sauerbraten. I got the Sauerkraut "Garnished" which consisted of Veal, Pork, and Beef Wursts on a bed of sauerkraut: it was quite delicious, and very filling. I kept telling myself I shouldn't take another bite, but enjoyed the next bite anyway.
Service was excellent. The Bavarian Inn is clean, bright, and inviting. The atmosphere is pleasant, and, in spite of the size of the dining room, it is easy to converse. Parking is excellent. Prices are good considering the quality and quantity of the fare.
The Bavarian Inn is certainly a good choice for dining, whether for a group or for a couple.

Good food, beer, service. The pale ales, India and American, were interestingly spicy. Liked the IPA better. The view of the river was wonderful with the autumn foliage. Easy walk to German St and lots of small shops. Got some Christmas shopping done.

We ate at the bar in the restaurant. Our tender was the best and had wonderful conversations. She made me an Expresso martini and did me right by it. Sadly I didn't catch her name. I sure wish I had. She deserves a raise. I highly recommend going. We had the filet mignon. Very delicious with a tater cake. Not a fan of bean sprouts but she gave us some roasted Brussels sprouts no extra charge. You won't be disappointed. Also very beautiful place inside and out

We just got home from an amazing birthday celebration weekend with our best friends. It was the loveliest, most adult friendly, most relaxing, most fun, most beer and food filled time ever!! Everything from hello to thank you for staying with us was amazing! The inside bar, Randy the bartender was more than helpful and kind (and patient when we couldn’t stop laughing) The outside pool bar, those ladies worked their tails off! Amazing service with a smile. The front desk people were helpful and friendly, the wait staff at the delicious restaurant were all great too. The room was spacious and clean and what a view! The town had so many little stores and restaurants to explore as well! We will be back for sure!! 10 out of 10 stars!

This was our first stay at the Bavarian Inn but will definitely not be our last.

The room we stayed in was beautifully and newly renovated with the wonderful add-on of some German Charcuterie—which was delicious!

The pool was what originally drew me in and I was smitten with the view from the Infinity edge overlooking the Potomac. The bar at the pool was also well-appointed and a great spot to spend a warm, mid-September evening.

We had the totally accidental but delightful fortune of booking for Octoberfest weekend which led to such a fun Sunday afternoon. The food, drinks, and entertainment were all delightful and we had so much fun even in the rain.

We are already planning a return stay at the Bavarian Inn. :)

Love this place, use to be the hidden gem of WV, but since the pandemic has become a weekend getaway for folks within an hour or 2 driving distance. Rooms are great, food is good & drinks are fabulous along with the amazing grounds & views.

We went here for a weekend getaway and we had an absolutely amazing time. The atmosphere around the grounds, in and out were exceptional and our suite was awesome. The amenities available were terrific, and the view from the infinity pool (with a bar close at hand) is hard to beat.

Most of the staff were friendly and very helpful, and helped to make ours a weekend to remember. Rental bikes were included for guests and expanded our options to taking a spur of the moment trip across the bridge and down the C & O Canal. We had breakfasts here and a dinner in the Rathskeller due to an event going on, but all of the food and drinks are outstanding. All of the food we had was delicious.

The town of Shepherdstown is a short drive or bike ride away, with plenty of shopping and other dining options. It's a beautiful area and we found everyone to be very friendly.

We loved the Bavarian Inn and would highly recommend checking them out. I know we hope to get back soon! Thank you for a wonderful weekend and amazing memories.

This was a wonderful overnight trip! We were a bit skeptical about how a place in Shepherdstown was going to be, but this was surprising! The room we stayed in was in one of the chalets overlooking the river. The room was very nice! It was large, clean, and just felt right. It wasn't overly commercialized, and felt like a home that was cared for.
As far as the restaurant goes, it was great! I've been a lot of places throughout the world, and really enjoyed the food and drink here. The service was friendly and fairly formal without feeling "put-on". Breakfast was excellent, as well.
Altogether, this was an excellent experience. The personal stories of the family that own and run the business really gave it a rounded feel. It's the kind of place that feels like the owners really enjoy and care about-- it's authentic hospitality.

Sat at the bar for a couple drinks with friends after spending a fun afternoon exploring Shepherdstown. This place has such a wonderful ambiance. The woman servers are dressed in authentic Bavarian outfits. They were very friendly and helpful, as was the hostess.
The bartender was attentive, helpful and pleasantly droll. The drinks and their owned brewed beers were quite excellent. We can't wait to return to this attractive and enjoyable resort. Next time we shall stay overnight. The infinity pool overlooking the beautiful Potomac River is a West Virginia jewel. It is surprisingly large and I was aching to jump in and enjoy the view at the infinity pool lodge with a drink from the poolside bar. Yes, we discovered a hidden gem today. Thank you, God and Universe😊👍🙏
