Very short walk to a boardwalk area where you can view pitcher plants and Venus flytraps. This trail can be used to connect longer trails in the park.

Visited the trail for the first time this morning, just breathtaking. I saw Pitcher plants (easy to spot) and a sundew. Didn't see any Fly Traps and those are typically growing near the Pitchers. I plan to hit the ranger guided tour this weekend and hopefully see the Traps then--if any. Poaching is an issue and I do not know why because these plants are readily available at nurseries. NC has stiff penalties for poachers, but to my mind they are not stiff enough. Take pictures, leave footprints (on the trail 😉)

UPDATE: did the guided ranger walk of the trail over the holiday weekend. I must have looked right at the fly trap and missed it. Got to see one in its natural space. This trail is just incredible, FIVE distinct ecosystems. Fly Trap photo added.

You have to really look had to find the Venus fly trap plants. I had a misconception that they would be these big evil plants but they are very tiny.

The hike itself is pretty good, very short well marked trail. There is ample parking and the trail itself is easy to follow.

A great trail for all ages.

Very quiet trail. Saw plenty of carnivorous plants you just need a good eye to see them. Make sure to wear bug spray.

Nice quick walk, very well maintained. Found some pitcher plants. Might be a little early or too soon after the burn to see the flytraps, or need to look harder.

Um....Where. Are. The. Fly. Traps?!?!? 😆 I did not see ONE. How can it be called the fly trap trail and there not be a single fly trap. I spent about an hour looking. I even stepped off the trail and looked to see if I could find any. Not ONE! Oh well. It is still a beautiful park and I enjoyed my fly trapless walk in nature.

Nice walking trail. Make sure to get a trail map at the visitor center before going to the trail.

Saw my first wild venus flytrap on this trail along with pitcher plants. Being early April the flytraps hadn't started to flower yet but the pitcher plants were in bloom and impressive. The worst part of seeing these plants was hearing from staff members of the poaching problem. There wer some people behind us and we showed them the Flytrap, it bothered me all night hoping they weren't poachers.
