Fine dining at it's best!
We attended the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and wanted a nicer restaurant experience. My husband had the hearty lamb stew, our son and I had fish, and for dessert, we shared the creme brulee and mint cheesecake. Though the meals are pricey, they were well worth the cost! Thank you Carlton's!

This upscale restaurant is still one of the true Five Star restaurants left. Old school, The atmosphere is awesome, the maître d’/waiter is above and beyond professional , they still got it have not been there in about a year but we are going back soon that’s what made me think about this place, to write a great review, we have several friends that eat here and all of them fell the same way as we do. Did I Mention the wine list is out of this world you will love it.
We went for dinner last night 06/23/18 great service again,, great wine,, and seating.

Sea Scallops Provençal!!! French 75 as my drinks!! Yummy Yum Yum!!!!🍽🥰❤

Meal specs:
The scallops were pan sautéed, served over Asiago Risotto with hearty Provençal, chopped asparagus, basil oil & fresh Micro herbs!!
The scallops were the biggest scallops that I’ve had thus far!!! Big & good!! Cooked properly & so very tasty!!! They were cooked throughly, seasoned on topped & sautéed which was nice!!
The risotto was very good & paired well with the scallops, Provençal, basil oil & herbs!! The risotto was cooked properly. The asparagus was crunchy & cooked nicely. I don’t like everyone’s asparagus but I like theirs!!

Drink specs:
It consists of Hendricks gin, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, lemon twist served in a champagne flute!! It was surprisingly good!! However, it was small!! 🤷🏽‍♀ 🥂

Tip:
They have parking that you can get validated. I’m upset that I didn’t know about that as many times that I’ve been there in the past. The bartender this night was nice enough to let us know!!
Also, the menu changes.

Had my gender reveal here and we really enjoyed ourselves! The food was amazing and worth the price. Service was phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

My mother and I came here for restaurant week. Every course we had tasted amazing. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive. We were very glad we chose to eat here.

Short rib mushroom pasta. To die for. Great service. Coolest place. Can't beat the atmosphere, food, or happy hour. Was best in Pittsburgh 15 years ago and still is.

The food is amazing you cant go wrong. I would strongly reccomend trying something new and going outside your comfort zone.

There isn't a bad meal at this place. I had a filet with Jack sauce and blue cheese. Delicious!

We were treated like royalty. The food was delicious. And it was adventurous. Nice view. Fantastic wine selection and the price points were adjusted for a budget or an all out celebration. We left stuffed and none of us are all the food in our table. Call ahead and get any special requests in and I am sure you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend, and I have never said that in a review.

The seabass and filet mignon were perfectly cooked and our waitress Rae was so attentive. We are looking forward to going back real soon!

My brother frequents this place and they treat me like family because of that. The food's phenomenal, the service is just right everytime, this is the best and only spot to impress a date as well take your grandmother out for the meal she has deserved everyday since your parents were 1/2 a twinkle in her eye. Over all I've never had a negative thing to say about this place. Free parking and free limo too a few theatres I've only used that service once though.

Great dining experience. Was pricy but not the most expensive fine dining in town for sure. The food was authentic, fresh and all cooked and presented wonderfully. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The wine selection is top notch. I had flowers delivered to the restaurant for our anniversary to be waiting on the table and they accommodated that perfectly as well. The hostess even gave a quick "Happy Anniversary " as we arrived to let me know the flowers had made it. Honestly one of the best dining experiences I've had in Pittsburgh. We will definitely be going back.

Took a couple of friends here from out of town since I had not been here in. years....mostly because of convenience.

The server was very young at 23 but the food and service continue to be top notch and two of us ordered from the special restaurant week menu and one from the regular menu. All of the meals were excellent and made me wish for a greater visitation frequency. Having parking at the garage below comped was a very nice touch as well. My friends who are frequent business travelers here could not believe that they had overlooked this gem

Outstanding experience, Professional and knowledgeable staff. We felt pampered by no less than 6 members of the Carlton's crew. Excellent menu selections expertly prepared. Extensive wine menu available. Elegant and comfortable environment.

We recently had dinner at The Carlton during our visit to Pittsburgh. What a pleasant event. Our masterful waiter, Bobby was beyond expectations. He had 24 years of experience at the same restaurant, and will never leave. The dinner and wine choices were just great. We purchased some of our dinner wine to take with us at a very reasonable rate....and presented table side by the owner. Our waiter, made a reservation for us the next night at a nearby restaurant as a courtesy to us . That , in our mind , is exceptional personal service.

Go there. You will be pleased.

I ordered the salmon. Very nice meal, delicious flavors and texture, good sized portion, wonderful presentation and service. My only complaint was the dessert prices ($11 for a very small portion of creme brulee). Nevertheless, it was amazing as well. I will definitely be back.

My significant other and I are certainly foodies. However, we hate spending money on food that is just not of the quality especially when the prices are on a higher end. Well this certainly is not the case with The Carlton. Great service. The waiter was not overwhelming but attending and informing all at the same time. The food was delicious. The specials of the day were finger licking. Definitely a nice, classy place.

Wonderful dining experience, I have been here a few times for special occasions. Most recently, we had a special visit for someone coming to have a "Pittsburgh experience" and we thought that this was an essential stop for their visit. The management and staff met all of our needs and offered one of the best experiences that we've had dining in the region. We usually leave quite happy, but this recent visit was one of the best ever! Looking forward to the next visit.

The food and atmosphere was awesome. We had a party of 10 for a business dinner. We started in a quaint little bar area where we were quickly attended to while we waited for our reservation. Once seated we were greeted by a few servers who gave us the specials. We ordered several apps, all delicious. I had the Mahi mahi and my spouse had the filet all was cooked to perfection. We were there before a Penguins hockey game and all felt comfortable wearing casual clothes. Would highly recommend

We loved The Carlton! The food was delicious -- from the Lobster & Crab Gnocchi appetizer to our entrees, the Chilean Sea Bass and the Cajun Baramundi with Tomato-Basil Risotto! Our server, Bobby, told us he's worked at The Carlton for 20 years! and it was obvious by his friendly, comfortable manner, his excellent menu recommendations, and his prompt, non-obtrusive service! The restaurant is relaxing and beautiful, with a 'Club' feel with dark wood booths, brocade draperies, and elegant lighting! We will definitely return to this hidden gem the next time we are in Pittsburgh!
