I've been seeing Dr. Mitzel for several years (starting back when they were still in Cranberry) and have always been pleased. I travel about an hour and half to see him still. As you know, finding a good psychiatrist and office is a lot of work. I will continue to travel there with no regrets. I've replaced some of my other doctors so it isn't just that I am attached to all of my providers. The only issue I've had is recently with billing, my payment plan and my HSA on file, but we seem to have it straightened out.

I have seen Dr Mitzel for a few years. He is knowledgeable, listens to my perspective and decisions are made with mutual agreement. The staff always returns calls or does paperwork quickly and as needed for work etc.

I have been seeing the psychiatrist here for 8 years. He is very detailed, very open to what you have tried in past. He is available and his staff gets back to you and does all they can to help. I am finally stable after years and years have seeing many different psychiatrists and finally getting my medication protocol to where it makes a huge difference. Number one place in this area!

I am writing this on behalf of my mother whom absolutely loves PA Danijela Ferri. She is patient, benevolent, empathetic, and very knowledgeable. This is the best care she has received from any psychiatrics services she has been to. Thank you Danijela for being so great at what you do!

For over 2 years I was a patient and would see the PA. I was fine with that, I liked her, she was easy to talk to. Even though Dr. Mitzel was my Doctor, when the PA retired I was told I needed to find another Physician. Since Dr. Mitzel was in charge of my care not the Pa I asked to please be kept as a patient since there was almost a year wait for any other psychiatrist in the area. I was struggling with my mental health at the time, needed his help and felt totally abandoned. I never missed appointment, never late. I have great insurance, and my account was paid. Might not be illegal but definitely unethical. I do not recommend anyone go this practice. It’s disheartening to see that patient welfare is not the primary concern for Dr. Mitzel.

I have had so many problems with the service at collaborative since starting several years ago. As you know, finding a psychiatrist office is difficult and finding a good psychiatrist office is near-impossible. This is not one of the good ones. Specifically, the office told me they would be able to get me required psych clearance letters for an upcoming surgery. This was urgent, And I was told on the phone it was something they could do. Then, when I sent them the forms they needed to sign and send back, they didn't return my calls or emails. When I called to ask about scheduling an unrelated appointment they got right back to me. I'm not sure why the office was resistant to getting me the things that I needed, but I had to scramble to find another provider who could do so. The time approaching my surgery is already fraught with stress and their office absolutely made it worse.

In addition to this, I've had rude front office staff with no regard from Dr. Mitzell when told of the issue, I've had medications refused to be refilled and late fees charged, due to appointments the doctor missed himself or was late to. For a phone appointment, if you are 20 minutes late you have missed the appointment.

I am not pleased at all with my experience. Particularly if you are a transgender person who needs letters for your surgery, do not go here.

My son was referred to Doctor Mitzel by his Therapist. She thought it would be good to coordinate their care together. Ryan waited 2 months to get in

He was seen by the PA, Danelje Ferri, not by Dr Mitzel. At his appt, Ryan shared his current medications and his prior history of addiction. Ryan is 24. He shared he was taking an anti-seizure med prescribed by his neurologist and two meds from his PCP, low dose of Valium and Trivanse for ADD. Since all 3 are controlled substances, Ryan gets a new script every 30 days, no refills.

At the appt, the PA prescribed an antidepressant because Ryan wants to stop the Valium. Initially she gave Ryan samples and then after 3 weeks, wrote a script

A month later, the day of his appt, Ryan received a call cancelling his appt. The phone message stated it was cancelled because he a refilled 3 different controlled substances from 3 different doctors in the past 30 days. Yes, he did refill the 3 scripts he had told them about. They were actually from 2 providers, the ones he shared in his appt. The office saw 3 names because the nurse practioner fir his PCP wrote one of the three scripts

When Ryan called, they sent him a copy of the report showing that he had filled the 3 scripts. Across the top was written terminated. The note said filled controlled substances from 3 different doctors in past 30 days with an exclamation point. It then said, we believe Ryan should seek a psychiatrist with Allegheny Health Systems to coordinate his care with his neurologist.

There was no issue at the appt, no issue for 34 days between appts but the day of the office manager runs a report and makes a decision to cancel and terminate for no reason. When I called, they tried to explain their way out by saying Ryan was already getting his meds elsewhere and there was nothing they could do. When I asked if the office had prescribed anything, the lady said no which was wrong. When I tried to speak, she said Ryan is terminated and hung up

Whatever happened to respecting a patient

Do not go here

I have filed a complaint with my insurance company

I had an appointment with Danijela. I've been in therapy several times throughout my life, and never have I had an experience as uncomfortable and unprofessional as this one. As someone who believes strongly in advocating for myself and others, I feel I have a responsibility to tell you what happened.

First, Danijela did not identify herself to me as a PA. I understand it's important to take notes during an initial intake and evaluation, but she rarely looked up from her paper throughout the meeting. After a brief "evaluation" - where she did not ask me to explain why I felt I needed therapy, what I hoped to gain, or why I had reached out - she stated she was writing a prescription for medication. She also proceeded to refer me to a clinician who specializes in eating disorders.

While it might have been her professional opinion regarding these courses of action, she was not transparent about why I was being referred elsewhere and it felt very much like a rejection. Additionally, in the appointment I stated I was not comfortable and afraid of taking medication.

I was frustrated because when I made the appointment on the phone, I explained I needed to take a day off work to make this appointment and that I wished to speak with a therapist. I explained that I felt my time had not been valued, at which point Danijela told me that was not what was happening and invalidated my experience and feelings.

I will be going elsewhere for my therapy needs, and would encourage you and the members of this collaborative to be more transparent when doing initial intakes. I did not feel as though I was being heard today, and have to say this was one of the worst experiences I've had. I came in today looking for help, and felt as though I was an inconvenience - especially as Danijela rolled her eyes and often scoffed at my reactions.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst service ever. When we cancelled, they billed anyways. When I called they hung up on me, when I drove down there, they called the police on me.

Save yourself the trouble.
