Merkel's Shoes

I walked out that door absolutely BEAMING, just smiling like a fool from ear to ear because this store is a dream come true for anyone who needs high quality boots at great prices from people who know what they're talking about. I'm a carpenter specializing in stairs and rails so I'm constantly up and down stairs, crouching down, kneeling in the dust, hanging over ledges, and often outside year round. I spent weeks researching the perfect boot (Redwing Nailseat's 1155) but couldn't find them ANYWHERE. Within minutes of walking into the store and speaking with a very knowledgeable young man, he brought me straight to these boots. He was extremely helpful in helping me determine the perfect fit and speaking frankly about his own experience with this style of boot. They had a great selection of sizes and widths to try on much to my surprise. The cherry on top was the fact that these boots were 60$ cheaper than ANYWHERE else on the internet. With these on my feet I know I won't be needing boots for quite some time, but I know exactly where I'll go when I do: Merkel's.

My husband gives Merkel a five star for all the manly stuff/ supplies but from a women’s perspective, I would give it a 3 star for its outdated selection.
He needed a steel toe work boot and my husband swears this is the only place that has what he needs.
Location is simple. Once you see the huge black boot on the side of the road, you’re there lol.
Selection is a lot for men but for the women, it wasn’t as much. Now as for their inventory, that’s iffy depending on obviously how popular that item is.
Quite a bit of sandals and rain boots for adults and kids.
Sneakers for women is good but again it’s not the newest style. They do have quality sneakers for active or work wear. Steel or composite toe for those whose work requires PPE gear.
Prices are still reasonable.
Service is okay. Sometimes there is staff to help grab the items for you but today it seemed that they didn’t have any staff at all besides the cashier. There were sign’s posted for job opportunities there.
Cleanliness is good.
Overall- again my husband loves it.

There are a lot of work boot styles to look at, but not a lot size choices, probably because of the large variety. So you may have to get your second or third choice. However, the staff is super nice and very helpful.

Merkel's is the only place that I will shop for my work boots. Their prices are very competitive and they have a great selection.
Merkel's staff is very kind and knowledgeable, they don't always have the answer right away but they will get me an answer promptly.
I choose to keep my hard working money local and having a place like thus local to me makes me feel like I am spending my money wisely.

Great place for work shoes and the occasional clearance sneakers if your looking for something bright and fun like I was!

Nice place, great selection but prices seemed a little high. I will definitely shop there again. I just wish they had more regular men's timberland boots and not all pro.

If you can't find a pair of boots in here you like, they don't exist. Good prices too. I spent 300 bucks and left with a pair work boots (pro timberland), two pair of sneaks for the wife, two pair for my oldest, one for my youngest and a pair of rain boots for both kids. I can't remeber the girl's name that helped us but she was great. Super friendly staff. I love stores like this. 5 stars all day

This place is committed to selling from stock, not on-line, the way stores shoe stores should be.... It's a simply great shoe store.....owned and operated a local family. We bought 3 pairs in 45 minutes tonight and we know they fit and we know the kids like them cause we were all there at the same time. That is family time efficiency that Amazon can never/will never ever match..... And free shipping with free returns just means you got less shoe for your money.... Wake up America!

I have been using Merkel's for over 20 years. Best place in area to buy Work Boot. Huge selection and many brands. Don't have your size - they will order them for you. (No extra charge) Prices are less than online stores.

Got a good deal on some wolverine shoes they had on sale, and the lady that helped me was supper nice!

Awesome selection. Excellent staff. BAD register clerk. Been here 3 times in about 4 years and the clerk talks and holds a conversation with her other employees/friends and completely ignores the person checking out. It’s very annoying. I’m not in a rush but my 5 mins of standing there hearing their conversation could have been cut down to about 1 min. If the woman would put her conversation on hold, check me out, then continue, that’d be great and slightly more professional.

This is the shoe store to be at. Especially if you have wide feet or large or long feet. They can help you with just about anything. Their staff is knowledgeable attentive and courteous

Greatest Mom and Pop Shoe Store Ever!!!! Boots, Work Boots, Steel toe, Composite toe, or Metatarsal Boots, they have it all!! I go here every year for my work boots which have to be Metatarsal because of the industry I work in and I always find a nice selection to choose from.

My husband needed a new pair of shoes for work. He’s in landscaping and he goes through a pair every 6 months normally but the last pair he bought was from here and they lasted him almost 1 1/2 years! The service was nice. Of course, because of COVID, it’s required that you wear a mask.
