Brown Cow Restaurant

This little country restaurant is bustling with delicious fresh, scratch-made food served to wise locals who get there early. We stopped in on a Sunday just in time. Nice full menu, good hot coffee, great service despite the tables all full and a 10 minute wait. Big tasty portions. Snag a fresh loaf of bread on your way out. Parking lot or on the street. Again, get there early or expect to wait. Mostly small tables and some counter seats. Clean bathroom, sweet cow theme decor, of course.

The food and coffee were fantastic. One caveat: the "cappuccino" is the kind that comes out of the same machine as hot chocolate. Regular coffee makes up for it though 😎

This was a great find on our visit. The staff is so friendly and attentive. You can not miss the French toast with homemade bread. It was eaten so fast we didn't get a pic!!! Really enjoyed my brown cow bowl!

Any time my husband and I are in the area, we stop for breakfast. The staff is always happy and friendly. The food is always delicious! We recently went while in the area on our honeymoon, and we even bought a Cow Palace mug in memory of our experience. Highly recommend! I definitely want to try their lunch because if their breakfast is that good, I can only imagine how good the lunch is! Everything is so clean as well! Love watching the chef cook our meals too!

Classic small town diner breakfast experience. The food was good and plentiful and the employees (all women as far as I could see) seemed to actually be happy that we were there. What a difference that makes!

Family ate here twice for breakfast on a 4 day hockey tournament weekend at Jay Peak. It was worth the trek because it was that good. Super friendly staff. The giant cinnamon roll will haunt my dreams, best I've ever had. Will absolutely return when back in the area.

Wonderful little place with great service and gentle people. A little warning, if you are not really hungry only go for ONE pancake! These things are HUGE and I was not able to go through the whole plate. Overall 5 stars, keep up the great work!

Best place in the area to get breakfast ! Big menu and everything is delicious. Staff is very friendly as well. I got the breakfast sandwich on a bagel. Eggs were perfectly cooked and so was the bacon. Homefries with onions were cooked well and had good flavor. My gf son got the chocolate chip pancakes which were great ! Very fairly priced as well. A must visit if you want a top notch breakfast.

This is a small place the locals love! Everyone is very nice and always friendly. Out of town people are always in a Rush and they want the food to be like their own home town. That’s not going to happen. Us locals love our Brown Cow!!

Food was delicious! Highly recommend the jumbo cinnamon roll (plenty big enough to share). Service was great! Pleasant environment, just a great little spot!

Whenever we are in town The Brown Cow is a must for breakfast!!! I look forward to visiting Newport just for the Brown Cow!!! Their French Toast is made from homemade bread and it's absolutely delicious 😋

Stopped in for breakfast on our road trip across the USA. This was seriously the BEST breakfast we’ve ever had. I felt like someone had invited me to their home and cooked breakfast for me. Fresh food, cooked to perfection. We sat at the counter and had a nice chat with the friendly cook who amazed me with her organizational skills and ability to cook every order by herself that was coming in from 3 servers. I am envious of the locals who get to eat here regularly. Make sure you have the raisin toast, I am sure it is made from scratch and I’ll be forever trying to duplicate it and make it myself at home. Thank you for a great experience in Vermont.

Wow, ate breakfast on our way to Canada 8/26/23. Staff 5 star. The 2 ladies at the grill AWESOME. Home made home fries, toast and the meat lovers omelet I had was outstanding. Everyone one I was dining with were happy. My wife quoted " No wonder there is a waiting line." Kudo's to everyone there

They treat you like family. Food was amazing. Can't wait to go again. Homemade sour bread they make right there.

The food and atmosphere was so nice that we had lunch there twice in the week we were in town. The homemade bread was so good. We are vegetarians and there were plenty of choices to pick from. I will certainly come back if we are ever in the area.

We were going to have breakfast until we saw banana cream pie for dessert. I had a great BLT on rye. Husband had homemade white bread on his! Dessert was generous and fresh. Staff wonderful while very busy. Clean, bright, inviting. Definitely stop in again!
