Mark Joseph handled my elderly father's insurance, and was very responsive and helpful in aligning my father's evolving insurance needs with his life changes. Thank you Mark!

Mark is arrogant, condescending and ineffective at saving the client money.
He loves to hear himself talk and sounds like a used car salesman constantly pushing products that people don't want.
I saved a lot of money by simply switching to another Allstate agent.
Would not recommend.

In short, Mark is a liar and a thief with both his employees and his clients. I was an employee of Marks for one year he stole my commission from two life insurance sales that I made and he kept my commission. I also witnessed him personally never canceling clients policies and collecting premiums for several months after they gave him a written notice to cancel their policies. I am surprised he is still In business.

Where do I start? I was an Allstate customer for 12+ years and the only reason I was transferred to the Mark Joseph Agency was because the previous agent was promoted.

After shopping around and realizing I was overpaying for car Insurance, I called the 1-800 number as instructed on the mobile app and after going through the prompts, I was transferred and spoke directly with Mark Joseph on September 5th, 2018 at 4:32pm to cancel my home and car insurance policies. I had a new policy matched by another insurance company and cut my premium by nearly half. Allstate "gaurantees an immediate cancellation" when verbally cancelling your policy with your agent - the state also does not requite a written notice to your agent or the company. I told Mark I wished to cancel both policies - after some conversation back and forth, he finally agreed to cancel them. Being in the insurance business myself, I asked him if he wanted me to send him a written notice or at least an email confirming cancellation - he stated "Nope, I've already taken care of it, you're good". I hung up then and went back to life as usual - my only and worst mistake.

Flash-forward to November 2, and this is my second bill I received in the mail. Realizing now something was wrong and it wasn't just a miscommunication between the agency and Allstate's billing department, I reached out to Mark again November 2, 2018. Mark states he didn't recall us speaking and he has no record of me calling (he wouldn't if I was transferred by the automated service - Allstate confirmed that I was transferred to him based on their call log). The most he could do was backdate my cancellation to 10/1...and I'd still owe $240.00+...had he cancelled when I requested, I'd be owed a refund for my payment for 9/5 - 9/14. After lying over the phone, I looked him up and found a similar review on here. I filed a DOI complaint with the state - all in all, they stated it was a fact vs fact and couldn't get involved. I spoke with Allstate's customer service department; they stated since I did not send my agent an email or written request, there was nothing they could - despite their policy of verbal cancellation. Mark even told the Depsrtment of Insurance investigator that "this is the second complaint about this in 2 day's...obviously if this continues to happen, it's a problem with the Agent.

Moral of the story: I don't know if he's lying to get out of taking responsibility for his mistake or he honeslty just forgot about us speaking...but don't make the same mistake I did - cover yourself, get EVERYTHING in writing/keep an electronic trail, and never take this man at his word because his word means nothing. I refuse to pay for a mistake that wasn't mine.

Absolutely ridiculous to try and get even basic information from, and wildly rude.
